So no hope from Jeremy either?

It seems JC would still back Brexit even if another election brought him to power.
How to shoot yourself in the foot?
From The Guardian this weekend

Jeremy Corbyn is facing a storm of criticism from Labour activists and MPs after suggesting he would press ahead with Brexit if the party won a snap general election.
In a sign that he is losing backing among overwhelmingly pro-Remain Labour supporters, Corbyn was also accused of betraying the party membership by appearing reluctant to back the idea of supporting Remain in a second referendum
The first signs of a serious internal revolt from party members on the left, who helped propel him to the leadership, came after Corbyn gave an interview to the Guardian in which he suggested he thought Brexit should go ahead and said EU state-aid rules would prevent a Labour government intervening to support UK industries.

trisher it was granddad1943 who derailed the thread by posting an attack on me and bringing other threads into this thread , and you know it

POGS Sat 26-Jan-19 16:04:13

trisher

'And if you can't change the subject derail the thread completely!

Well the subject was discussing Venezuela but I thought Grandad had ever right to talk about something else.

trisher Sat 26-Jan-19 16:11:18

Actually it was GG13 who raised the subject of Venezuela. And you joined in. And there were links between the two ideas. But so much irrelavancy and inaccuracy have now scuppered the the thread all together.

POGS Sat 26-Jan-19 16:17:01

trisher

What inaccuracy?

Or do you mean opinions that do not concur with trisher.

Anniebach Sat 26-Jan-19 16:18:42

Threads do tend to wander , this thread was started to discuss Corbyn pressing ahead with brexit if he won the next election,

Jalima1108, regarding your post @ 15:30 today, I will let your previous posts to that speak for themselves in testament as to what you really wished to insinuate against Jenney Formby.

I believe Jenney Formby is very much a self-made woman in regard to her career and anyone can witness that fact in reading her workplace history much of which came about in a region well away from Central Office. There is also the fact that at that time in her young life the Transport & General Workers Union was almost totally male-dominated.

She had achieved the highest office of Reginal Secretary before she arrived at what had become the Unite Unions Central Office and the relationship with Len McCluskey began.

Further to the above Formby has been elected to her present role of Labour Party General Secretary by that bodies National Executive Committee which Len McCluskey holds no position on.

As I stated, some women talk the talk, while others actually go out into the world and walk the walk, and in that, pave the way for others in their wake.

Anniebach Sat 26-Jan-19 16:26:39

Formby moved to the post of regional secretary in 2016, her and McClusky’s son was born in 1991

POGS I do not propose to get into a "who said what and when" debate. I find it boring. If you can't spot an inaccuracy or believe that I consider opposing views to mine as inaccurate that is your problem. I enjoy political debate, avoid the personal and try to always present appropriate evidence or links when I can. Others behave differently. It's unfortunate in my opinion and smacks a bit of the school playground, so I generally stop posting when that happens. Still it was fun while it lasted. Thanks.

Jalima1108 Sat 26-Jan-19 16:30:10

And if you can't change the subject derail the thread completely!
It's Grandad's modus operandi, trisher

we are used to it now, don't worry.

Grandad

I appreciate the extreme short period of time so I apologise for being ' pushy.

Did you note my question to you @ 15.57

Grandmashe43 Sat 26-Jan-19 16:49:59

Grandad, you say you are a labour supporter, not my Labour Party, you do the party a very great disservice. You should read back on your posts on Gransnet and hang your head in shame.

Grandad1943 Sat 26-Jan-19 16:50:36

Apologies should be constituency above not consistency. hmm

Anniebach Sat 26-Jan-19 16:52:16

But disparaging and disgusting remarks about a poster are acceptable, how strange

Grandmashe43 Sat 26-Jan-19 16:56:36

Grandad, read back on your posts, then perhaps you will understand, or maybe not.........

Grandmashe43, most certainly not. grin

lemongrove Sat 26-Jan-19 17:11:56

Grandad43 is having far too much fun to apologise for highly insensitive posts.
A lot of people get on in life through relationships btw think Diane Abott.

Grandmashe43 Sat 26-Jan-19 17:12:12

Can’t learn, won’t learn, oh well I tried Grandad 1943.

Thinking about membership fees, 14 year olds can join for £3 and vote

Anniebach Sat 26-Jan-19 17:19:24

I always wondered why Diane Abbott chose Johnathan Aitkin to be Godfather to her son

GrannyGravy13 Sat 26-Jan-19 17:20:31

trisher yes I did mention Venezuela, in as much as JC has often been quoted as having a high regard for the socialist ideals of that Country's government.

I have also stood up for a forum member who is consistently "bullied" by another regular poster, and will continue to stick up for anyone who is bullied, on here or anywhere.

Bullying on any level is unacceptable.

POGS Sat 26-Jan-19 17:33:29

Grandad

Are you at work?

You have answered other posters since my question and I would like to know the answer to know if I have read your link to Walker/Skwawkbox correctly.

So if you have a moment.

Grandad1943 Sat 26-Jan-19 17:57:17

POGS, I have been in the office this morning, but I believe I did see your post but got involved as the thread was taken off topic, so please accept my apologies for not replying.

We are going out this evening (I think) grin, so, again please accept my apologies if I do not find the time to reply this evening. I would be very interested in your views on the plans Jenney Formby is to put forward to the Labour NEC next week regarding Labour Constituency party candidate selection for MPs. You will find that post somewhere around lunchtime today.

I was thinking as I dictated it, *POGS will love to get her teeth into this one". So, if we do not "cross swords" tonight I look forward to one of our respectful jousts tomorrow hopefully. wink
