Where is the vote in the Commons going to take us next. Whether remainder or leaver, this is a disgraceful shambles!

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 08:22:30

But May put Leavers in charge at the beginning. Davis, Johnson, Fox and what happened?

Zilch

It keeps being pointed out that the Leave leaders deliberately, never had a plan. This was not a little minor oversight, it was a major flaw. They can't decide on a plan even now, after 2 years. Apart, of course, for the 'no deal' nonsense which the whole world, apart from some naive Leavers, can see for what it is.

We are definitely in parallel universes, Urmstongran.

andycameron69 Fri 08-Feb-19 08:51:31

no deal will happen, it is the best for the UK, and I am most looking forward to being totally free from the EU.

Urmstongran Fri 08-Feb-19 08:56:26

Mornin MaizieD.
An apology would have been nice but I shan’t hold my breath.
You harangued me for my answer about why I didn’t listen to the government and I took the time to think about your question and gave a comprehensive reply - yet it didn’t merit a response from you! Why not?
I’m genuinely interested.

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 09:49:15

I didn't take it any further, Urmstongran because we both have completely closed minds. And I really don't understand how yours works any more than you understand mine. We have no common ground. It's a microcosm of the whole country , which makes me very sad as it will take years to recover from this.

Urmstongran Fri 08-Feb-19 10:42:06

Indeed it is sad. ☹️

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 11:03:16

An apology would have been nice but I shan’t hold my breath.

When hell freezes over....

(By then the leading Brexiters will be glad of a bit of relief from the eternal flames)

Urmstongran Fri 08-Feb-19 11:06:41

Stop digging MaizieD you do yourself no favours.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 12:34:15

Digging for facts and truths is always good. MaizieD has been massively patient so far, and her information invaluable, Thank you.

Labaik Fri 08-Feb-19 13:20:05

Agreed.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 15:11:14

Brexit anxiety is making people 'snap' - yes, it does.

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 15:38:18

jura......very funny ‘MaizieD has been massively patient so far’ haha I can’t even see MaizieD herself agreeing with that comment.
Of course we won’t change each others minds on either staying within the EU or in leaving, but a bit of civility wouldn’t go amiss. All and I do mean all, the insults come from Remainers on GN in thread after thread.
Thank God the real world isn’t quite the same, as we have no problems with either family or any friends who happened to vote differently.
For those who do have falling outs with family, friends, and neighbours.......you must be idiots.

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 15:43:59

..you must be idiots.

Of course, that's not meant to be an insult, is it, lemon?

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 15:48:37

No....just factual
Anyone who falls out with family members or loses friends over this simply must be idiots. We each had a vote and used it, not to annoy others including our nearest and dearest, but in the interests of the UK.

andycameron69 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:06:33

well said lemon
[smiles]

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:45:19

'you must be idiots.'

not your first insult for sure - and I will happily return it.

Bridgeit Fri 08-Feb-19 17:19:48

Are Gransnetters on this subject replicating the behaviour of the politicians, or are the politicians reflecting the attitudes & behaviours of the electorate?!??
The entire situation as the OP says , is an utter shamble.
IMO it can only be settled if we vote on known facts . A second vote taken now would prevent years of division.

Labaik Fri 08-Feb-19 17:20:46

I'm an idiot then....and that must be true because lemongrove says it so it can't possibly be wrong...

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 17:26:33

Remainer 'this is going to hurt me very badly and my family very badly'
relative 'I don't care'
Remainer ' I am so concerned I won't have the drugs I need to survive and the isotopes for my chemo'
relative 'ah well, we all need to suffer a bit for the cause'
Remainer 'my dil is from EU- and 2 of the grandkids were born abroad- we are so concerned they won't be able to stay'
relative 'ah well, you son should have married a local girl, suck it up snowflake'

and on, and on ... Put up with? NO way.

But who is the idiot here, I say.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 08-Feb-19 17:44:53

I have got a DIL who is European and a GC born on mainland Europe.
She totally understands why people voted leave.

Why are people panicking when none of us know for sure what the outcome will be.

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 18:03:48

Your own fantasy conversations jura hmm or are you saying your relatives said to you ‘suck it up, snowflake’ ?
Thought not.
Labaik if you have really fallen out with your family or friends over the way they voted then I stand by my comment.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 18:11:27

Of course, based on so many conversations reported by members of Remainer groups I belong to- including one for UK citizens in France.

None of them fell out with relatives because they voted 'leave' per se- but because of conversations they have had since, and nasty, mocking FB messages, or e-mails, during visits. Some I know have not fallen out- they could not let that happen- but they just dropped contact- or keep to absolute minimum. Mostly younger people in their 20s, 30s, 40s - not really talking to parents anymore- because their reaction were just too nasty or insensitive- and many also included sheer racism- and truly behaved like idiots.

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 18:12:40

Your link isn't working, jura

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 18:15:44

I am so sorry- it did work, I checked. Must have been withdrawn.

MaizieD Fri 08-Feb-19 18:16:29

She totally understands why people voted leave.

Would you like to pop her on here for a bit, GG to explain it to us?

At the moment I do totally 'understand' why people voted Leave; I just think their reasons were not particularly valid.
