So reports the Telegraph.

It's breaking news. He is reported as saying UKIP is dead in the water but millions will join a Brexit Party. The way the EU negotiations are shaping up, I imagine all the Leavers consigned to hell by the EU's Donald Tusk will be right behind him.

Lily, please add treacle tart to the list. I am not a great pudding person, but we have just been out to lunch and I was seduced by the treacle tart and it was delicious. You might just pick up my vte as a floating voter.

Make mine an apple crumble please!

trisher Sat 09-Feb-19 16:46:54

I hope these will be British puddings Lily65 and none of this European nonsense! And please can you guarantee they are calorie free?

Jalima1108 Sat 09-Feb-19 16:51:39

Am I allowed to have tarte tatin and crème fraiche Lily?

I don't like suety puddings

Jalima1108 Sat 09-Feb-19 16:53:09

so - a new party is formed but what can it do?
There is no GE on the horizon (even Corbyn may stop asking for one if he thinks they could be rivals).

They will have no seats in Parliament so what influence can they have?

I am confused about what it can hope to achieve

jura2 Sat 09-Feb-19 17:02:04

So, who will be joining Farage?

As for pudding, 'spotted dick' would be appropriate.

M0nica Sat 09-Feb-19 18:27:05

It keeps Farage in the limelight, now that UKIP has been taken over by the extreme right.

M0nica Sat 09-Feb-19 18:27:34

Oh, and he can stand for the European Parliament to keep themoney flowing in.

petra Sat 09-Feb-19 20:48:53

jalima
The 'new' party believe there's a possibility that article50 will be extended. If it looks as if this is going to happen we will still be in the eu. The eu parliament elections are in May. This new party want to put up candidates for those elections

Jalima1108 Sat 09-Feb-19 20:51:17

Oh, I see, thanks petra

So if we are still in we will need to have candidates, if we are out it won't matter anyway.
It's a 'just-in-case scenario'
Rather like the other Brexit contingency plans.
Like the lorry parks in Dover etc.

Lily65 Sat 09-Feb-19 21:03:08

jura, there is something for every one in my pudding party, Ever one for embracing other cultures, sadly this time around I am drawing a line. We live in a cold miserable country and therefore only British classics will be available ( with regional tweaks obviously)

Jalima1108 Sat 09-Feb-19 21:08:21

Oh no!
I was looking forward to my Tarte Tatin.

Upside down apple tart with soured cream please wink

Lily65 Sat 09-Feb-19 21:17:22

OK J, I think you can squeeze under the bar with that one ( but not after consuming)

Day6 Sat 09-Feb-19 21:24:58

They will have no seats in Parliament so what influence can they have?

They would need candidates everywhere, which is highly unlikely, but should they manage that there could be 17 million+ people who'd come out and vote for them, should the UK's negotiators settle for a soft, unsatisfactory Brexit.

Labour and Conservative voters who strayed could make it difficult for Tories and Labour.

I believe it is a one issue party - about Brexit - so it may not even get off the ground if we go for No Deal in March. (Fingers crossed!)

Jalima1108 Sun 10-Feb-19 13:44:01

smile thank you Lily
I will call it Caramelised Upside Down Apple Tart with Soured Cream if that's better!

Jalima1108 Sun 10-Feb-19 13:44:56

Do you think there would be a GE just after March then Day6?

Not another one!

Johno Mon 11-Feb-19 17:56:43

Not for me. Farage is no more than a self-interested back-stabber. He has been promised a seat in the House of Lords if he can destroy UKIP under Gerard Batten who I believe is the best politician in Britain. There is no logical reason for Farage NOT to have returned to UKIP a ready-made party for him. UKIP is the only party which has the full adherence and honour for the referendum result.

Urmstongran Mon 11-Feb-19 18:57:17

I thought UKIP were pretty toxic nowadays? ?

Today in the news:

'Brexit Party will SWEEP the country!' - Kate Hoey warns Farage's new party will WIN elections

Leading Brexit supporter and Labour MP Kate Hoey has warned Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party will be successful if it fights in future European elections.

trisher Mon 11-Feb-19 20:31:24

Please can they start with my kichen floor? And actually I've noticed the streets do need sweeping.

Jalima1108 Mon 11-Feb-19 21:24:18

Kate Hoey warns Farage's new party will WIN elections
Well, only if there is an election.

And perhaps the dust will have settled by the time of the next election.
There will be no point in having a Brexit party after we have left the EU surely? Like opening the stable door to let the horse out but it's already bolted.

www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1085455/Brexit-news-UK-EU-Nigel-Farage-Brexit-Party-Labour-Party-Theresa-May-European-Union

It's hard to believe that any GNetter, even the most blinkered brextreemist, would believe anything in written the Express, which started its own anti-common-market campaign in the 1960s and supported UKIP during the period 2000-2018 when it was owned by pornographer Richard Desmond. Come on *Urmstongran" you must be joking!

petra Wed 13-Feb-19 16:50:00

Varian
Are you angry because the story is in the express, or is it the content of the story and what Kate claims.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 13-Feb-19 16:52:09

I agree with jura2; things are becoming very reminiscent of the thirties. We have foreigners being made to sound like "the other" and talk of "getting things done" by "firm government". Gives me the willies.

Day6 Wed 13-Feb-19 17:08:17

There is no logical reason for Farage NOT to have returned to UKIP

He believes UKIP is finished as it now has links with the EDL and Tommy Robinson.

www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/nigel-farage-really-upset-at-thought-of-tommy-robinson-joining-ukip-a3941786.html

And from the Guardian

"Batten has sought to move Ukip towards a more anti-Islam stance. A new set of policies unveiled in the autumn included a mooted halt on immigration from Islamic countries and the possibility of separate jails for Muslim prisoners."

"Batten said: “I have appointed Tommy Robinson to be a personal special adviser on two subjects which he has great knowledge. It is not necessary for him to be a party member in order to assist me in this role. I am looking forward to working with him.”
