So reports the Telegraph.

It's breaking news. He is reported as saying UKIP is dead in the water but millions will join a Brexit Party. The way the EU negotiations are shaping up, I imagine all the Leavers consigned to hell by the EU's Donald Tusk will be right behind him.

Do you think there would be a GE just after March then Day6?

I suspect Farage is thinking more about forthcoming EU elections Jalima should the withdrawal agreement tie us in any way to the EU.

The next Elections to the European Parliament are expected to be held in 23–26 May 2019.

Should we leave the EU in March, where do we stand re EU elections? (Must find out) There is to be a transitional period isn't there but like most things Brexit. terms and conditions seem to be 'flexible' (which is a euphemism for "wtf is going on now???")

I think even if we left with the 'backstop' agreement in place we cant vote in the eu elections.
I think if for whatever reason Brexit is delayed the amount of MEPs fielded will shock the establishment ridged.
As we know, the majority of voters don't bother with the eu elections, but, this new party is going to make sure that everyone is aware of them.
This vote ( if it happens) has the potential to have just a big a shock as the referendum.

perhaps Gabriella will come and extoll the virtues of Robinson.

God we live in horrible times.

Petra I would never be angry or even surprised or shocked by anything that is written in the Express. Most folk know very well that it specializes in lowest-common-denominator right-wing propaganda, mostly lies.

unbaised - well I am sure Varian is VERY glad about that andy.

Not for me. I am a UKIP member. Gerard Batten is an outstanding leader. Farage is a backstabber.

M0nica Thu 14-Feb-19 15:51:51

What even more outstanding than Jeremy Corbyn?

I think if for whatever reason Brexit is delayed the amount of MEPs fielded will shock the establishment ridged

That can only be a good thing Petra

We can do away with this huge expense when we leave too. Our £billions are obviously needed to keep this afloat!

These are monthly pay-outs to the 751 MEPs.

"MEPs can choose their own staff, within a budget set by Parliament. In 2018, the maximum MONTHLY amount available for all the costs involved in recruiting personal assistants is € 24,526 per MEP. None of these funds are paid to the MEP themselves."

"Since 1 July 2014 there have been 751 MEPs in the European Parliament, as laid down in the Lisbon Treaty"

"The monthly pre-tax salary of MEPs under the single statute is €8,757.70 as of 1.7.2018.

The monthly salary comes from Parliament's budget and is subject to an EU tax and insurance contributions, after which the salary is €6,824.85

Let's not forget the £120,000 per year expenses that MEPs are allowed to claim without showing a receipt.
That's £90,120,000 a year!!!
The reason the don't have to show a receipt is because:
eu officials didn't want to saddle them with an administrative burden poor didums angry
How many more millions, billions? ard sloshing around with no accountability?

Wheniwasyourage Thu 14-Feb-19 18:12:59

And just how much of it is Nigel Farage, (who disapproves of the whole thing, we are told) getting his sticky hands on?

PECS Thu 14-Feb-19 18:17:25

£43 million lost on the home grown bloody stupid garden bridge idea! We don't have to be in the EU to waste tax payers money we can do it all by our Great British selves!!

petra Thu 14-Feb-19 18:57:18

PECS
Yes, £43 million is a hideous amount of money with nothing to show for it.
But the £90 + million I quoted is year on year.
Add to that the €114 million every year to move the eu parliament every month, just to keep the French happy.

PECS Thu 14-Feb-19 18:59:17

But we get loads of that money back.. we have lots to show for it ..ask Wales and Cornwall!

MaizieD Thu 14-Feb-19 19:21:48

I wouldn't even bother, PECS, They have the mantra ready:

'but it's our money we get back'

petra Thu 14-Feb-19 19:43:21

PECS
Ask Wales and Cornwall
And still they both voted to leave grin
And yes, it is our money, who else's money is it?

M0nica Fri 15-Feb-19 09:35:17

But all this melts away compared with the cost of HS2. The cost of that has recently doubled to £60 billion. If even half of that was spent improving the current train network and bring back into use some of the network closed by Beeching, we would end up with a more extensive network with far more trains for far more people and far greater environmental advantages than David Cameron's vanity project.

Grandad1943 Fri 15-Feb-19 09:50:31

So deep are the rifts in the Tory party now, that some in the parliamentary party are suggesting that others leave and join the Nigel Farage new party.

I believe that it was at one time stated by supporters that the Conservative party was the "natural party on government". I am now wondering which Conservative party they would be referring to these days. grin

PECS Fri 15-Feb-19 10:31:58

Most of the political parties are in disarray! UKip split, Tories split, Labour split and Lib Dems too. Think it is only the Greens are together! Seems like a shuffle and realignment all round is needed!

petra Fri 15-Feb-19 10:40:19

PECS
It must be a lot easier when a party only has 1 MP.

PECS Fri 15-Feb-19 10:46:13

petra or just more difficult to split! ???

PECS Fri 15-Feb-19 10:47:00

The Greens have supporters who are lrss divided!,
