A small number of back benchers will announce they are leaving the party this morning.

Chuka Umunna is one who may be among them.

Or strong challenging women
perhaps that was what went wrong with his first two wives?

Racism can be quite a difficult allegation to support or refute so it has been quite a useful one to throw at Corbyn and people who are broadly in favour of many of his views.
But when it is his own MPs who are making the accusations - another one today who does not want to join the rest of the Independents - surely we should give this some credence?

When, as I heard on R4 this evening, John McDonnell admits that they have not done enough - then they cannot have done enough.

If that is the experience of MPs in the LP then we should all be up in arms in their defence. Tom Watson spoke about it from the heart the other day and at last McDonnell admits they have not done enough. Was it because the will simply wasn't there to stamp it out?

I haven't heard similar accusations about Tory MPs. Anyone?

Reading what is anti semitism brought back the filming of a training day in Momentum, the woman leading it said
‘I don’t know the definition of anti semetism !

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 19:08:08

Fennel you ask why people can’t stand up to bullying and harrassment, so you ask the same of the women in ‘Me Too’
or you wouldn’t have said it about anyone , I didn’t expect anyone here to say of think that

lemongrove Fri 22-Feb-19 19:14:18

Going back in this thread ( Barry Gardiner) I also wondered where he was from as he has a very strange accent, unlike
Any other.Doesn’t sound remotely Scottish , a rather strangulated prissy sort of voice.

Mycatisahacker Fri 22-Feb-19 19:16:37

Fennel

I thunk your statement about not being able to stand up to bullying and harassment really says a lot about your own behaviour. Absolutely shocking.

I sgree about Tom Watson he looked wmbaressed and shocked by the resignations and sad which Is a dam sight mite than the dear leader and his chancellor did.

I expect Abbott to not care as she has made many racist remarks herself and not apologised but I hope to see more labour MPs leave soon as labour have left them and us hopefully temporarily but we will see.

Mycatisahacker Fri 22-Feb-19 19:18:14

Oh my God if I see Barry Gardner I switch off. Monumental bore and a laughable grasp on any political situation.

Mycatisahacker Fri 22-Feb-19 19:19:57

jalima

Yes I wondered about his ex wives

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 20:18:53

The defence posted today about anti semitism makes it so clear that corbynites here and across the country dismiss the fact, yes fact, that anti semetism was brought to the Labour Party by Corbyn Momentum ,

‘Why can’t they stand up to harrasment and bullying ‘

‘What is anti semetism ‘

I am shocked and disappointed

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 20:28:17

Is it just me who likes Barry Gardiner's voice?
He soothes me off to sleep.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 20:32:49

What baffles me and has done since Corbyn came into prominence

Mycat

What saddens me about Corbyn becoming party leader is the divisiveness on GN - more so than over Brexit, I feel.

Of course, the divisiveness in the country is of far more importance, but Gransnetters who used to be able to chat about other issues, perhaps not to do with politics, and agree on other issues, do not do that any more and some have even left.

I find that very sad.

Mycatisahacker Fri 22-Feb-19 20:39:58

Yes it is sad when the far left or the far right take over as they are both as racist, bullying and intimidating as each other.

Corbyn seems to inspire a nasty following on line and in RL. Like the EDL Britain first and their ilk.

Barry Gardner would send anyone to sleep wink

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 20:42:21

Mycat so true

trisher Fri 22-Feb-19 20:45:17

Mycatisahacker there has always been and probably always will be bullying and harrasment in politics. It's often the way the whip keeps control of the party. It was at its worse under Blair when Alistair Campbell threatened, intimidated and humiliated MPs regularly to get what he wanted. Probably the worst thing about the party under Corbyn is that the MPs are not intimidated enough because they are speaking out. Under Blair and Campbell no one dare.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 20:47:27

Barry Gardner would send anyone to sleep
Lovely, though, I'd like to hear him reading me a bedtime story (only on CD!!)

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 20:48:25

Alistair Campbell threatened, intimidated and humiliated MPs regularly to get what he wanted.
Well, yes, that was shocking.
Especially as he was unelected.

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 20:51:36

But Corbyn promised ‘ a kinder, gentler politics ‘ , a stranger to truth is Corbyn

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 20:55:46

trisher you can say ‘the worse thing about the party under Corbyn is MP’s ARE NOT INTIMIDATED ENOUGH.

Any thing you say about bullying and abuse can now be dismissed , you approve of it

trisher Fri 22-Feb-19 20:56:03

Exactly which is why these MPs are behaving as they are. They don't appreciate kindness. They need an Alistair to keep them in line.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 21:19:31

They need an Alistair to keep them in line.
shock

I wouldn't wish that on anyone!!

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 21:19:53

well, perhaps, but not MPs or most of us.

Eloethan Fri 22-Feb-19 21:20:36

Exactly. They have joined the media bullies and hounded Corbyn relentlessly from the moment he won the leadership contest.

I don't agree with the tactics Campbell used but these supposedly brave souls wouldn't have the guts to stand up to the British media and him.

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 21:22:40

Doesn’t work trisher , you remained silent when Fennel asked ‘ why can’t they stand up to harassment and bullying’
You follow with ‘ the worse thing is they aren’t bullied enough.

If it wasn’t so frightening it would be amusing

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 21:26:18

It's fairly obvious that McDonnell is manoeuvring into position to take over.
He is the spokesman now.

Anniebach Fri 22-Feb-19 21:38:46

Definitely Jalima he is turning into ‘Mr Nice’ ,

He tried twice to stand for leadership but couldn’t get support, then he put Abbott in line, failed , then he got Corbyn in.
