Any fellow Leavers who would like to use this thread to post GOOD NEWS (away from Remainer doom & gloom)?

How about this for starters:

Norway’s $1 trillion (£753 billion) sovereign wealth fund – among the world’s most respected investors – has just confirmed it will boost its UK holdings. “Over time, our UK allocation will increase,” said Yngve Slyngstad, the Norwegian Fund’s CEO. “With our 30-year-plus time horizon, current political discussions don’t change our view,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to Britain even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
This kind of clear-sighted, grown-up analysis contrasts starkly with the endless doom-mongering we get from subsidy-hungry politicos at the CBI. It’s precisely because Britain will thrive after Brexit that we attracted record foreign direct investment last year, beating the US, with only China attracting more. Even British start-ups raised almost £8  billion in venture capital during 2018 – some 70 per cent more than their French and German counterparts.
Boeing has opened its first manufacturing plant in Europe – in Sheffield. Technology-driven investment is piling in – not just to London but to Manchester and the North-East too. And, as Brexit-bashing stories about planes not flying are trumped by reality, investors from China to the Middle East are flocking to a country just judged by Forbes magazine as the “best place in the world to do business” for the second year in a row.
Yes, overseas investors are taking advantage of the weaker pound, which makes UK assets look attractive. But that’s how exchange rates work – which is why Europe’s monetary union is so crippling for many of its members.

Sorry for the long post but I’m not keen on links!

What is a No Deal Brexit? 21 ways you'll be affected if UK leaves EU with no deal

www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/what-no-deal-brexit-what-13419829

How could any sane person be looking forward to all of that????

MaizieD Tue 05-Mar-19 19:29:49

There's a good twitter thread about 'no deal', varian. Written by one of the more sane Leavers:

Andy love, dare I suggest the imbecile Leaver persona is wearing a bit thin?

{grin]

What's your game? {hmm}

It's BECAUSE we care that we are so concerned about what we are witnessing

You are witnessing to sets of opinions about Brexit. We can claim that the country is broken, or we can accept that 99.9% of the population accept we will leave the EU and just want to get the damned process over and done with now. Anyonw would think we are in the midst of aa bloody civil war. The only place things become heated is on opinion forums. We furiously type up our thoughts. (Whilst drinking tea or coffee )

I bet if we were in a queue at the shops and politics weren't mentioned, we could chat away like old friends...

That's another positive thing Urmston - we will have to think of something else to argue about online when leaving the EU fades into the annals of history. Bring it on I say. grin

PS: re the way we all type our thoughts online, my youngest daughter informed me of two new buzzwords 1) 'hacktivism' - I think meaning hacks/journalists (?) and 2) 'clicktivism' - meaning we click away - at our remotes and in online surveys/debates and make our presence felt that way, instead of being there, being vocal?

I may be wrong...others will put me right I daresay.

varian Tue 05-Mar-19 19:57:14

99.9% of the population accept we will leave the EU?????

That is utter rubbish. For more than eighteen months the majority of British people have said they want to REMAIN in the EU.

andycameron69 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:05:04

yup 99.9% want to leave, I read that too

grin

andycameron69 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:05:50

well we have had the referendum and Leave is the majority of voters....

happy here

Day6 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:06:44

Oh you are a tease Andy....... hmm

Day6 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:07:35

A generalisation dear varian you little joy-bringer you.....flowers

Because Ginny MaizieD is such a ‘glass half full’ so I was responding, suggesting she be optimistic after she had posted:

‘I love how all these true blue patriots applaud the UK being sold off to overseas 'investors'...’

And as an earlier post of mine had said that provides work for our blue collar workers in the U.K.

Jeez.
This is the problem I KNEW would happen once I spoilt this thread by responding to all the NEGATIVITY!!

Right.
That’s it. I’m done ✅
No more responses from me to any negative posts.

I AM DETERMINED to keep this thread as happy and positive as I can. All the Eeyores on here will post, no doubt about it. But no more to and fro from me! There are plenty of other Brexit sites. Others can and will reply as they wish (obviously). But from now on, I’m not getting drawn into any more negative debating. In fact I think a lot of us are weary of that now?

I’m only going to post GOOD NEWS for Britain.
Join me if you like.
Or not.

I don’t care either way.
I for one am going to bang the drum for Britain!!
???

varian Tue 05-Mar-19 20:11:39

Facts, not fiction

crystaltipps Tue 05-Mar-19 20:14:39

Andy is living up to the monosyllabic -nice- but -dim-nothing -to -say -other -than - meaningless- soundbites- stereotype- yawn

Day6 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:17:15

I'll join you banging the drum for Britain Urmston

I know we could leave tomorrow without a deal and survive and prosper in the years to come. onwards and upwards!

If we were from Latvia I wouldn't be so sure, (Not seeing Latvia as a big player) but the EU needs us more than we need it.

I also look forward to a Brexit thread free Gransnet! grin

Day6 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:17:49

Andy is playing with us....bless him.

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 20:21:10

Good evening andyC ?
I’m pleased you are enjoying this forum!

We will be OUT soon. I really believe that. ??

It’s good isn’t it to be kind? As my old mum used to say ‘if you can’t say anything nice, come and sit beside me!’
??

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 20:23:45

Hi Day6 I’m not sure GN will be Brexit free for a long time as this is a process.
But you are right.
Eventually we will be out.
??

andycameron69 Tue 05-Mar-19 20:46:32

urmston thank you, I am kind and love this thread, I would sit with you too. It is so happy and positive and 24 days to go....excited.

Andy you're not really Dave are you?

jura2 Tue 05-Mar-19 21:32:07

Turns out Andy, that so many who campaigned for Brexit are indeed rotten and corrupt to the core. Did you watch the information about Bannon tonight. More corrupt than that is hard to do.
