Norway’s $1 trillion (£753 billion) sovereign wealth fund – among the world’s most respected investors – has just confirmed it will boost its UK holdings. “Over time, our UK allocation will increase,” said Yngve Slyngstad, the Norwegian Fund’s CEO. “With our 30-year-plus time horizon, current political discussions don’t change our view,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to Britain even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
This kind of clear-sighted, grown-up analysis contrasts starkly with the endless doom-mongering we get from subsidy-hungry politicos at the CBI. It’s precisely because Britain will thrive after Brexit that we attracted record foreign direct investment last year, beating the US, with only China attracting more. Even British start-ups raised almost £8 billion in venture capital during 2018 – some 70 per cent more than their French and German counterparts.
Boeing has opened its first manufacturing plant in Europe – in Sheffield. Technology-driven investment is piling in – not just to London but to Manchester and the North-East too. And, as Brexit-bashing stories about planes not flying are trumped by reality, investors from China to the Middle East are flocking to a country just judged by Forbes magazine as the “best place in the world to do business” for the second year in a row.
Yes, overseas investors are taking advantage of the weaker pound, which makes UK assets look attractive. But that’s how exchange rates work – which is why Europe’s monetary union is so crippling for many of its members.

JenniferEccles, I thought I was being very positive when I spoke on how brexit had brought a large increase in the volume of trade within our own business here.
Many of us will be working late again tonight, and we have a volunteer team of employees up together to work tomorrow, and it's all due to Brexit.
All the assignment team and Admin staff will be receiving great bonuses at the end of this month, again all due to the problems brexit.

Lets hope we can emulate Norway and get the same sort of links with the EU that they have. Its surprising given all the marvellous things that we were promised - loads of extra dosh for the NHS, countries falling over themselves to do easy trade deals, German car manufacturers twisting the arm of the EU, the whole of Europe being envious of our state, that the benefits of Brexit are not so much greater. The odd investment from a small country with close links to the EU, which might be beneficial in 30 years time, is now appearing to be top of the list of things to trumpet about, all the original promises seem to have been forgotten.

How true that turned out to be. Wonderful ........lets all celebrate that.
There are benefits of Brexit for some -My lawyer friend who came out of retirement to work on Brexit is earning shedloads of taxpayers money.

We will never know if / how ' negotiations ' would have faired had Parliament not set itself against the EU Referendum Result from the start.
Had our MP's who said they ' respect ' the Referendum result, voted to trigger Article 50 and abided by their Party General Election Manifestoes maybe the ' negotiations ' would have been a lot easier.
From the start the will by so many Parliamentarians to ignore / overturn the EU Referendum result and put Remaining in the EU firmly on the table as their sole aim has put one arm up the back of ' negotiations'.
There have been so many UK Parliamentarians traipsing through the halls of Brussels virtually telling the EU ' we can overturn the referendum result , stick with us ' the impetus for ' negotiation ' probably was never taken 100% seriously.

BBC: Jaguar Land Rover is preparing to make a major investment in advanced manufacturing in the UK. Contradicting recent press reports that JLR might be sold sources close to the company and the government told the BBC that news of fresh investment in the UK was imminent.
This seems to be a damage limitation exercise.

A Brexit delay of longer than two months could be illegal unless the UK elects new MEPs, lawyers are warning, appearing to torpedo Theresa May‘s strategy.
Article 50 cannot be extended beyond the end of May unless the UK takes part in fresh European parliament elections, according to a legal opinion issued by the German Bundestag.
The conclusion came amid fresh evidence that the exit talks remain in trouble, with a lack of progress that might persuade MPs to approve the prime minister’s deal.

Friends in Spain have told me that all brits legally in Spain on 29th March will be offered new permanent residency papers.
