Any fellow Leavers who would like to use this thread to post GOOD NEWS (away from Remainer doom & gloom)?

How about this for starters:

Norway’s $1 trillion (£753 billion) sovereign wealth fund – among the world’s most respected investors – has just confirmed it will boost its UK holdings. “Over time, our UK allocation will increase,” said Yngve Slyngstad, the Norwegian Fund’s CEO. “With our 30-year-plus time horizon, current political discussions don’t change our view,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to Britain even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
This kind of clear-sighted, grown-up analysis contrasts starkly with the endless doom-mongering we get from subsidy-hungry politicos at the CBI. It’s precisely because Britain will thrive after Brexit that we attracted record foreign direct investment last year, beating the US, with only China attracting more. Even British start-ups raised almost £8  billion in venture capital during 2018 – some 70 per cent more than their French and German counterparts.
Boeing has opened its first manufacturing plant in Europe – in Sheffield. Technology-driven investment is piling in – not just to London but to Manchester and the North-East too. And, as Brexit-bashing stories about planes not flying are trumped by reality, investors from China to the Middle East are flocking to a country just judged by Forbes magazine as the “best place in the world to do business” for the second year in a row.
Yes, overseas investors are taking advantage of the weaker pound, which makes UK assets look attractive. But that’s how exchange rates work – which is why Europe’s monetary union is so crippling for many of its members.

Sorry for the long post but I’m not keen on links!

I Never mentioned business class?

crystaltipps Sun 03-Mar-19 13:43:48

I think announcing you will be drinking champagne in business class is flaunting of wealth. No one is saying you haven’t worked for it.

petra Sun 03-Mar-19 13:02:35

GG13
You go and enjoy every minute. ????

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Mar-19 12:55:29

I find the whole premise of "The mile high club" vulgar suzied, as I do any over the top public displays of affection.

I have never boasted of wealth or privilege, but will not apologise for Mr.GG13 and I working our socks off during our younger years in order that we can enjoy our retirement.

suzied Sun 03-Mar-19 12:43:40

Its rather vulgar to boast about your wealth and privilege grannygravy

Urmstongran Sun 03-Mar-19 12:06:02

Good post GG13 ??
Take a recommend.

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:34:26

GG thank you, a great post, I feel inspired.

regards

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:32:42

Sorry Suzied I am flying back to the UK. I think the mile high club is vulgar by the way.

The only thing that would make me leave is a Corbyn Government, being chained as a Federal State of Europe and having to join the Euro.

I have faith in the people of the UK, for every horror story there are several good news stories and new businesses starting up along with investment at grass roots level.

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:28:10

giggling here....

grin

I am so excited about a great future for my beloved UK ,

totally out of the clutches of the EU.

suzied Sun 03-Mar-19 11:14:43

All you leavers should join the mile high club together- seems like you are all jetting out of the country along with all the other wealthy Brexiteers.

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:06:54

ooooooooh I always turn left when boarding, get me into my flying bed.

fabulosity.

Out we go. Brexit partying soon

wine

party

MaizieD Sun 03-Mar-19 11:06:51

The EU tax avoidance directive plementation date was left for individual member states to decide. It comes into force in the UK at the beginning of April to coincide with the start of our tax year. Why do you think so many of Brexit's wealthy backers are desperate to have us out by the end of March?

crystaltipps Sun 03-Mar-19 11:06:48

Andy I expect you frequent ‘Spoons, I see a few old Kippers puffing away outside our local one.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:03:40

I as a leave voter have never said it is all going brilliantly, I think history will see that the H of C’s and Lords have acted appallingly.

It was stated that they would respect and act on the referendum, unfortunately they have repeatedly tried to thwart it:

I shall be celebrating the 29th with a glass of champagne at 36,000 ft, after turning left on the plane ?✈️??

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:01:29

tipps darling it is spelled :
Wetherspoons

gorgeous Brexit here we come

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 11:00:19

it is very positive and exciting and this thread is full of optimism and joy. x

crystaltipps Sun 03-Mar-19 10:50:18

Everyone I speak to is hellbent on leaving could be one man and his dog down at Weatherspoons, what does that prove? Everyone I speak to agrees that Brexit is a total mess -even those that voted for it- it’s hard to believe there are still those who think it’s all going brilliantly.

varian Sun 03-Mar-19 10:47:20

Is this why so many billionaire brexiters have left the country?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Mar-19 10:19:15

The EU anti tax avoidance came into force this January, it was the UK that lobbied the EU to bring about this change.

The good news is this debunks another remain lie that leaving the EU means we will not be part of this - it is already one of our laws.

Remainers lie as well!!!!

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 10:14:58

I am most content knowing I am in the majority of voters, who voted Leave. what a great feeling.

happiness abound

MaizieD Sun 03-Mar-19 09:58:53

All the people I speak to are in despair about leaving. And that includes some former Leave voters who didn't realise what a mess the UK was getting into.

We're still waiting for this Brexit good news to cheer us all up.

In the meantime, UK meat producers who normally sell into Europe are losing business:

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 09:23:20

I get much serenity being on this thread and contentment in the fact we the majority of voters won ...leave the EU.

smile

Urmstongran Sun 03-Mar-19 09:09:30

Gosh you’re determined to be an Eeyore aren’t you crystaltipps perhaps it’s what motivates you to get out of bed in a morning. If you hadn’t been so quick off the mark to find mean things to say you’d have noticed PamelaJj actually said:

all the people I speak to are still hellbent on leaving.

crystaltipps Sun 03-Mar-19 08:46:21

The people are stil hellbent on leaving
Should read some people surely? Otherwise you wouldn’t feel so beleaguered and have to write about buying cheap imported clothes from Primark as some sort of good news story. Truth is, millions are opposed to Brexit,in whatever guise it is dished up, hence the divided nation, plus leaving is going to diminish the U.K. in many ways. Fine if you are happy with that, but don’t pretend everyone agrees with you.

andycameron69 Sun 03-Mar-19 08:35:54

i adore our happy positive lovely thread.

Makes me feel so warm and connected

Thank you x
