The air of desperation is palpable. Perhaps they've tried really hard, scraped the barrel of brexit lies looking for an upside, and found absolutely nothing to be optimistic about. Pathetic sad people.

Any fellow Leavers who would like to use this thread to post GOOD NEWS (away from Remainer doom & gloom)?
How about this for starters:
Norway’s $1 trillion (£753 billion) sovereign wealth fund – among the world’s most respected investors – has just confirmed it will boost its UK holdings. “Over time, our UK allocation will increase,” said Yngve Slyngstad, the Norwegian Fund’s CEO. “With our 30-year-plus time horizon, current political discussions don’t change our view,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to Britain even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
This kind of clear-sighted, grown-up analysis contrasts starkly with the endless doom-mongering we get from subsidy-hungry politicos at the CBI. It’s precisely because Britain will thrive after Brexit that we attracted record foreign direct investment last year, beating the US, with only China attracting more. Even British start-ups raised almost £8 billion in venture capital during 2018 – some 70 per cent more than their French and German counterparts.
Boeing has opened its first manufacturing plant in Europe – in Sheffield. Technology-driven investment is piling in – not just to London but to Manchester and the North-East too. And, as Brexit-bashing stories about planes not flying are trumped by reality, investors from China to the Middle East are flocking to a country just judged by Forbes magazine as the “best place in the world to do business” for the second year in a row.
Yes, overseas investors are taking advantage of the weaker pound, which makes UK assets look attractive. But that’s how exchange rates work – which is why Europe’s monetary union is so crippling for many of its members.
Sorry for the long post but I’m not keen on links!
The air of desperation is palpable. Perhaps they've tried really hard, scraped the barrel of brexit lies looking for an upside, and found absolutely nothing to be optimistic about. Pathetic sad people.
The only Good News I applaud about the likely consequences of Brexit, is that it will probably lead to the breakup of the UK sooner than if all Countries in the UK (Henceforth to be known as the DUK) had voted remain.
Well there isn’t much good news is there apart from enjoying champagne ( the real thing?) , luxury holidays, cheap purchases, raspberries etc. It’s still not clear what kind of Brexit we will get courtesy of our esteemed politicians, but some on here don’t care about such minor details.
No crystaltipps , all the people I talk to want to leave. We are in an area that voted overwhelmingly to leave and the people I tend to speak to are eager to go.
There is one person that I know who is unhappy. She is German and seems to think she’ll never see her family again.
I only feel beleaguered on gransnet. I suppose in ‘real life’ a less aggressive conversation can be had.
All the people I talk to think Brexit a complete dogs doodoo. What does that prove? I live in an area that is overwhelmingly remain and we are resentful that we can be dragged against our will into something we don’t want. All it shows is the deep divisions this mess has become.
It proves nothing.
You queried what I had posted so I explained myself.
I don’t dispute that it has been very badly handled but my point, if there was one, is that the people that I speak to haven’t changed their mind.
That’s good news to those of us who want to go. This is supposed to be a pro Brexit thread. If you don’t like it then don’t read it.
Don’t feel beleaguered PamelaJj we fellow Leavers on here are not angry or confrontational. As you say in real life there’s not as much outright nastiness. On here there are many ‘keyboard warriors’! What are they so vociferous about on this lovely, uplifting thread? Why post?
And already 24 hours on (if that) we are being laughed at for our lack of good news about Brexit. Jeez.
We have 26 more days to go! Give it time. This forum will bear fruit. Not long now. Ignore the doom merchants!
A Leaver’s Lament!
I voted leave and had a happy face in the morning after that epic night.
I received my first abuse (racist) after 20 minutes of being at work
So I declared my reason (democracy) and was abused (Little Englander)
I highlighted sovereignty and freedom and another called me Xenophobe
I told them it was a logical decision for a Conservative and they said fascist
Now as a racist far right little Englander who is so obviously a xenophobe and total fascist I find myself betrayed by my Party leader and Corbyn offers a choice between remain and remain in a second ballot.
I was asked after all this have I changed my mind ... NO I said I still think we should leave....
Well you are not going to get it they laughed ...... who do you vote for now thicko ...... so I replied ....... Give a dog a bad name ................ UKIP.
The insulting posts from some should simply be ignored,
A few posters are getting wound up now we are so close to leaving the EU and hope to provoke others.
Pamela
I am genuinely interested in why the German lady thinks she won't see her family again.
We will be driving through Germany this year, and, driving to our holiday in France.
No one is trying to provoke anyone, just saying you can’t just have a so called good news thread and expect noone to challenge some of the more bizarre claims of good news. This is a public forum and anyone can contribute, if you want a private love- in then you’ll have to find somewhere else.
Petra I totally agree with your post, my family lived in Spain before it was in the EU, we have driven in Europe all my life. Just because we are not happy to be a"Federal State of Europe" does not mean we are not part of the continent of Europe. The hysteria seems to be mounting let's just leave and negotiate afterwards.
The Remainer natives are getting restless.
Petra I wondered about that too, the German neighbour must be very peculiar if she really thinks that.
Anyone (obviously) can comment.
Just might not get a satisfactory response on here❗️
I’m sure there will be more GOOD NEWS to come. We are a patient bunch. We’ve learned to be so since the referendum!
Onwards and upwards.
??
More good news? There hasn't been any good news so far.
A bit bizarre to be called a “remainer native” hmmm...that could be interpreted in a number of ways.
Could you please give some good news for cancer sufferers and their treatment please?
Choose to be optimistic,
It feels better
(Dalai Lama)
Optimistic - not easy when you are diagnosed and they tell you they can't guarantee availability of treatment, drugs, or specialists though - can you imagine?
And can you imagine it is not you, but a child or GC?
It does indeed petra and it certainly makes a very welcome change (on GN).
??
Sorry meant Cherrytree!
How fantastic that there are so many Leavers that I mixed them up?
Who knew?
My German friend is probably never going to see her family in Germany again anyway because of her age and her attitude to travelling.
I think her fears go back to the war when she was a child. She went through some scary times and seems to have got the idea that this division means we won’t be friends anymore.
It isn’t based on any research she has done.
That is why she voted to remain.
Same for my elderly French friend- widowed 3 years back (British OH)- and now with severe osteoarthitis and osteoporosis- having broken both femurs badly.
We've been trying to explain to her that she has to register- but she just can't get around it- she says but my husband was British, and I get part of his pension, and ... surely they can't throw me out in this state ...She'll be 80 next year, lives in a tiny Council bungalow and can barely move around on her Zimmerframe.
I think the fact that andycameron is enjoying this thread just about sums it up for me..
