Misreading the country?

It seems to me from talking to others and just listening in on conversations on buses and in shops etc that there is an overwhelming feeling that Westminster should just get on with it! This isn't a brexit/remainer thread. It's just expressing concern that Westminster is in its own little mixed up bubble and is just ignoring the people they're supposed to represent ie the great British public.

Maybe the way we are being treated by Brussels is part of the reason why more than half of voters wanted to leave?

Well, for a start, Brussels wasn't actually treating us as they are now before we voted to leave (despite the lies the leave campaigns told you).

Can you tell us how you expected Brussels to 'treat us' after the vote. and how that differs from 'they way they are treating us' now? What did you want from the leaving 'deal'?

MaizieD Thu 14-Mar-19 20:35:45

The above question is for piscarii but any Leavers are free to answer it...

Each of the parties want their own way and within them the members want their own way. The decision made as a result of the Brexit vote is legal whereas all the votes taken in the Commons over the past couple of weeks have no legal standing. But, again the parties all want their own way so mo challenge is going to happen. As for SNP,I do chuckle at them with all their objections as after all, if their referendum had been for independence they would already be out of the EU with no deal. I am so fed up with it I hope the EU just tell us to go jump and we have to make an actual decision. Politics aside Mrs May must have enormous stamina given the schedule she has had recently.

The latest polls show a 9 point majority. 54% Remin, only 45% leave.

Bridgeit Thu 14-Mar-19 20:49:30

Well I guess Jane , that they are representing the Electorate , because we the country are as divided over this as are the politicians & therefore they are representative of the divisions that already exist.

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:53:24

oooh love those inaccurate polls.....

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:01:17

jura2 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:16:54

nope- just one will do- on the current situation, with consequences known, without the fraud and lies - simples.

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 21:26:14

MP’s voted down another referendum. The Government did quite well tonight.....surprisingly.
Looks like the EU will give us an extension until June if the present deal is accepted next week.
Just a waiting game now.

jura2 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:35:47

hmmmmmmmmm yes, let's wait... and see

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 21:37:15

There’s nothing else to do really, is there?
It’s anyones guess what will actually happen.

GabriellaG54 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:37:32

As if anyone hadn't guessed that AC is gay.
Obvs in the extreme.
All welcome on here.

GabriellaG54 Thu 14-Mar-19 21:43:50

If the leave vote had been carried out properly (the will of the voting majority) and not hijacked by politicians, each with their own agenda, this fiasco wouldn't have happened.
The result should have been acted on by ALL members, regardless of their political persuasion.
As for Trump saying that Theresa May ignored his advice as to how she should negotiate...words are not enough angry

Urmstongran Thu 14-Mar-19 22:23:40

Well said Leavers on here. There are more of us than we realise on GN! I think many just ‘peep’ and don’t like to post.
?

Urmstongran Thu 14-Mar-19 22:25:47

I thought that too GG54. but then, Mrs May is a Remainer so she wouldn’t be listening to Trump - he WOULD have got us out!

MaizieD Fri 15-Mar-19 00:15:32

Leavers full of hot air but no idea how the negotiations could have been done differently or what they wanted them to achieve?

The EU always did hold all the cards, you know...

andycameron69 Fri 15-Mar-19 07:29:24

eu are bullies, out we go wto
