Climate Change Protests - will they make a difference?

There has been so far 3 days of climate change protests in Central London and other locations. They’ve disrupted traffic and inconvenienced a few, but have been in the main peaceful and has had a festival atmosphere. It looks like these protests will continue. Personally I feel climate change is a really important issue and should be the one that our esteemed politicians should be acting on and discussing but they aren’t. I’m in no way part of this group but, with some reservations, applaud their efforts and hope it does bring the issue to the fore. It does highlight how far our police resources are stretched that they can’t be stopped though. If you don’t live or work in the capital you probably don’t care about the protest , but hopefully you do care about the issues, and these protests it may be coming to a town near you. What do others think?

Well I don't eat any meat, game, fur, feather, fowl, shellfish and only eat fresh cod occasionally. Don't drink alcohol do use public transport 95% of the time and rarely fly. Last time was 3.5 years ago.
I'm a low user of energy and water and recycle a lot, buy loose fruit and veg and compost peelings and eggshells.
I even use coffee grounds to keep slugs off plants.
Not a lot more I can do.

I'm really pleased to hear that Gonegirl at least she won't have to share with the likes of Emma Thompson and all the other "first class", top tier, CC hypocrites !

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 13:56:03

Very true Gillybob. smile

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 13:57:21

(what is "CC")

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 13:57:47

Climate change!!!

Bit slow today.

GabriellaG54 Thu 02-May-19 14:08:07

Thanks, but I'll pass on that Gonegirl
I've been doing it for decades and it makes no difference if you think of the broader picture but hey...every little counts. ?

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 15:01:09

Of course it does. (Thumbs up emoji)

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 15:18:50

"....and the teenager massively annoying to most adults." - mycat.

How do you know that? Have you taken a population sized poll? Or are you going by a few mean minded bullying journos?

Or a conversation with your next-door neighbour/bessie mates? grin

Callistemon Thu 02-May-19 16:16:43

Greg and Emma are not going to pay their tax as a protest and Greg says:
They can’t send everyone to prison. But we’ll go to prison if necessary.

Well, if they think I am going to pay my taxes to keep them in prison, they've got another think coming. I object most strongly - what a pair of freeloaders thinking that the humble taxpayer is going to give them free board and lodging at HM's pleasure! shock

That is, if I pay any tax, must check, I am not in the wealthy Hampstead brigade …..

gillybob Thu 02-May-19 16:32:50

Oh but they’re not wealthy Callistemon their house is only one of the lowly £4 million ones ! wink

Mycatisahacker Thu 02-May-19 17:14:56

GoneGirl

Yes straw poll with my friends but we all have teenagers or in my case recent ones grinso maybe we are biased.

Bet I was referring to Greta what’s her face not your fairly cute (advisedly as in not creepy cute) grandson. grin

I world pay good money to see the Thompson in prison but then I also add May and Corbyn.

I bet she would be really well behaved and creep up to the guards where he would start a sit in protest about the food. smile

Mycatisahacker Thu 02-May-19 17:17:11

Thompson would start acting classes and yoga therapy for the prisoners. Greg would get bullied by everyone

Gonegirl Thu 02-May-19 17:24:29

Mycat I never thought for one moment you were referring to my extremely gorgeous - oh ok, fairly cute - grandson! grin

You were referring to Little Miss Pigtails.

Keep up at the back there.

Emma Thompson continuing with her hypocritical way of life. I can't stand that woman. Whenever she espouses a cause, it does the reverse for me.

I saw that article this morning too sparkle that woman makes my blood boil. I wonder how she will talk herself out of that one? hmm

Mycatisahacker Sun 05-May-19 10:54:35

What an idiot she is.

KatyK Sun 05-May-19 12:45:31

She makes my blood boil too..A champagne socialist indeed. Dreadful, smug woman.

Callistemon Sun 05-May-19 13:51:32

Oh but they’re not wealthy Callistemon their house is only one of the lowly £4 million ones !
A bit of a dump, then gillybob?

Callistemon Sun 05-May-19 13:54:24

I used to have an irrational dislike of her mother and now I have a perfectly rational dislike of her and her behaviour.

Hypocritical smug woman. Has she no self-awareness whatsoever?

Callistemon Sun 05-May-19 13:56:38

However, I used to like Greg Wise but now he seems to be like a Stepford husband.

gillybob Sun 05-May-19 14:09:37

I used to like Greg Wise too Callistemon until I realised that he clearly isn’t .

Callistemon Sun 05-May-19 14:13:18

grin

Excellent gillybob, how apt!
