Baby's on the way.....

sunseeker Tue 07-May-19 18:52:42

I am pleased mother and baby are apparently doing well.

It seems they can't win - they were criticised for saying there would be no announcement, probably rethought that so made an announcement, and are criticised again. I think they were still hoping for a home birth but because she was overdue she was taken into hospital - if they had announced that they would have been accused of attention seeking!

When photos are released there will, no doubt, be more criticism about posed photos (aren't all royal photos posed?)

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 18:53:04

Bridgeit just read your reply to my post about some royalists adoring the couple. Do you not see ? The public have played no part in this circus , it has all been from the couple, either choose to keep everything private or public, the rest of the family have managed to do so. Even the media are being played by this carrot dangling.

Day6 Tue 07-May-19 18:55:39

I dislike attention seeking celebrities and regret the loss of dignity which this royal family always shows in public

I do too Annie.

If the royals (and Harry is still a top drawer royal, given Charles is his father) are going to behave like celebrities and flaunt their position, wealth, privilege, politics (this is a new one!) as well as getting down viv da kids, they won't last long.

Strangely, to hold their position, they need to have mystique. (IMO) They aren't like the commoners, their lives bear no comparison, so trying to toady up to their "fans" just won't work.

Get into your gilded cage and disappear. You aren't like us. Meghan's experience of motherhood will be nothing like any other first time mother's (except Kate's The Queen's etc.) as a couple they will not experience the hardship, slog, screams, sleepless nights, nappies and fears new parents face, so I cannot understand the gushing from the public.

I am happy the birth went well and mother and baby are OK. I am not happy with the media frenzy or the way in which we have our Royals served up to us these days, aided and abetted by them and their Instagram accounts!

Blimey - one cannot plan for a revolution and a Republic given all the baby fuss! wink

Bridgeit Tue 07-May-19 18:56:47

?

Gonegirl Tue 07-May-19 18:57:14

I agree with that AB. It's got silly now.

Gonegirl Tue 07-May-19 19:00:21

I think they just didn't want the bank of press and royal watchers outside the hospital. I don't believe a home birth was ever planned.

seacliff Tue 07-May-19 19:01:03

Totally agreed Day6.

Bridgeit Tue 07-May-19 19:03:24

It would no worry me one bit if there were no photos or public appearances, but why the need to make negative judgements?

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 19:03:45

Agree Day6 but I don’t want a republic , I admire the dignity of the queen, Charles , Anne, William.

I was told many years ago by someone close to the royals about the queen and Margaret , within the circle was the prayer of thanksgiving ‘ thank God Elizabeth was born first’,

History repeating itself

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 19:05:46

If they didn’t want the press why ask for the cameras ?

Bridgeit Tue 07-May-19 19:16:01

How do you know this..?
They will / would have been criticised wither they did or they didn’t, that is the irony of it all ,just ridiculous , will leave you to it!

Joyfulnanna Tue 07-May-19 19:21:28

Something American I'd bet. Meghan will decide

paddyann Tue 07-May-19 19:29:55

Its an out of date concept in the 21st century ,it should end when Lizzie dies ,all the adulation of these people is totally ridiculous. All the attention focussed on one over privileged baby when there are hundreds of thousands of children in the UK who go to school hungry and whose parents have to claim benefits to make up the wages they should expect to be paid for the work they do.How can ANY of you justify this situation.let Harry and his bidey in live in peace ...but privately on their own income and without the ehro worship.thats the problem isn't it ...they WANT the hero worship as well as the cash !!

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 19:32:49

So a royal tv presenter lied on live tv ? And why would they be critcised if he didn’t ask for cameras ? never been done before

Day6 Tue 07-May-19 19:36:25

No, in truth I don't want a republic either Annie

Old skool royals get it. They do their duty, smile, shake a few hands, wave then get chauffeured off without having to gush or get the life history of every child looking cute or holding up a banner.

The Queen has been remarkable - but I cannot forget that she doesn't have to wash or iron her own clothes, or make her bed, or think about what to have for tea tonight or how she is going to get from A to B the next day - or how much her holidays are going to cost. She doesn't have to nip out to Dunelm when she feels a black-out blind is needed in the lavatory.

Anyone with such privileges and can keep going. Not so easy for most pensioners.

However, she Charles, Anne and now William behave with dignity and a certain restraint. I firmly believe William and his children (heirs) should be the only ones living off the fat of the land.

Harry can now be a play-boy prince. He Meghan and the sprog baby, can jet off and have a fabulous life behind the scenes. (I am sure Kate sometimes envies sister Pippa and her billionaire husband and child having such luxurious freedom.)

I am sure all H and M's future appearances will be OTT, but what a lucky, lucky man he is. He has no need to patronise his fan club. Just get on with being a rich and privileged young couple and stop pretending you 'know' what hardship is like. It is becoming vomit-inducing.

Mycatisahacker Tue 07-May-19 19:43:13

Good grief so much bitterness towards a young couple having a first baby.

Childbirth is the only leveller so I hope it went ok for her.

Not a royalist at all but some comments from other mothers and grands are horrible.

phoenix Tue 07-May-19 19:48:26

Could be wrong, but guessing that Meghan calls the shots in that marriage?

I used to think quite well of her, in a way, but not so sure now........

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 19:53:18

Day6, it doesn’t bother me that the queen doesn’t hsve to remember her Tesco order , check bus times, check her electric meter , do the school run etc.

To have to place duty above all else ? No way, all that hand shaking, even with Donald Trump ! And having experienced a beloved child publicly criticised and mocked ,unfairly , in a small town, what must it be like for her, her husband and four children and she has to remain silent, yes they hsve very privileged life styles , not for me.

Mycatisahacker Tue 07-May-19 20:02:15

So what if she calls the shots!

My dil does too! Good for her I say grin

GabriellaG54 Tue 07-May-19 20:08:03

Actually evaniers that name sounds really good.

Gonegirl Tue 07-May-19 20:08:19

I wonder if we'll ever know where the baby was born....

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 20:13:00

Two more days and the news can bore us with Brexit,

No, forgot Harry is working Thursday, so it will calm down come Friday.

GabriellaG54 Tue 07-May-19 20:45:43

annep1
No. Meghan was driven to hospital in London on Sunday evening...secretly, with Harry and Doria her mother.

GabriellaG54 Tue 07-May-19 20:48:45

The supposed hospital was The Portland and, according to sources, it was Harry's decision that she go to hospital. Not even Buckingham Palace knew.

Gonegirl Tue 07-May-19 21:02:47

Harry's decision?!

Gets weirder.
