Danny Baker should be sacked immediately

I wondered how long it would be - this BBC employed racist has tweeted a photo( which I won’t post) likening Archie to a chimpanzee. He’s now deleted it and issued a totally inadequate apology ( not that there could be an adequate one). What an absolute shit - I really think he should be sacked immediately

Isn't the original deed we are judging, not his excuses or him himself out of this context?

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 11:40:22

Isn't it (should read)

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 11:42:12

Annie I totally agree with you. I spent more than 2 hours on here yesterday afternoon arguing with a couple of people who defended him and his actions, which IMO are completely indefensible.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 11:43:14

Becket no, I don't know him personally. Guess that's were the common sense thing ie deliberate career suicide? comes in.

Anniebach Fri 10-May-19 11:47:15

Sparkle there can be no defence only excuses

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 11:48:59

There can be an excuse. You can't prove he meant one interpretation of the tweet over the other! How can you?

lemongrove Fri 10-May-19 11:49:28

Sparklefizz his actions should be reprehensible to any poster on this thread, there is no defence at all for them,
As in ‘ he is working class and employed by the BBC.’
If he went to Eton would any poster defend him? The answer is no.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 11:54:29

Definitely a hanging jury on this thread. grin

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 11:57:20

Annie and lemon
You are preaching to the wrong person with me as I was the first person on this thread to say how shocked I was. All my posts on this thread have condemned his actions, and also condemned re-circulating articles which included the photo he posted.
There is no defence for his actions. His class and politics have nothing to do with it. He has been cruel and racist and I was one of the first on here to say this.

Baggs Fri 10-May-19 11:58:16

I've been thinking something similar, gonegirl. These outrage mob threads that carry on even after the desired scalp has been acquired make me think of public hangings. Even if the punishment meted out is justified, the wallowing in it and savouring of it is weird.

lemongrove Fri 10-May-19 12:00:37

Indeed you were Sparkle and I was just agreeing with you regards my post.smile

lemongrove Fri 10-May-19 12:02:29

Except.......I do think his class and politics come into it, why would he have done it otherwise.

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 12:02:35

Baggs New people have seen the thread and have joined in. There is no weird wallowing or savouring. In fact, personally I feel only sadness and disheartened at the whole episode.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 12:03:03

Sparkelfizz can you imagine at all how the tweet and picture could show mockery of how the royals dress themselves and their children?

lemongrove Fri 10-May-19 12:05:53

Can you imagine how Meghan Markle would feel on seeing this picture and the caption?

SirChenjin Fri 10-May-19 12:06:07

Hanging jury?! Public hangings?!

My goodness - the people on here attempting to defend his racist actions even after its all been explained to them in very simple terms really are clutching at straws.

Try to reframe your thinking - it's hugely positive that racism is robustly challenged and continues to be challenged.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 12:07:30

Joke serchenin

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 12:08:52

Could someone - anyone - answer the question I put at 12.03.03.? Pretty please.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 12:09:51

I really need to know if anyone, lurkers included, are able to see both sides of this case argument.

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 12:11:02

One minute Baggs and Gone are complaining that this thread is continuing despite DB having been sacked, yet while they themselves continue to stir and agitate and defend the indefensible, people who condemn racism will respond and challenge, as SirChenjin says above.

SirChenjin Fri 10-May-19 12:11:47

Where was the joke Gone?

breeze Fri 10-May-19 12:13:54

I agree that unless you know the man personally it's only your interpretation of what was meant. Most seem to 'know' he is a racist whilst others are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and judge it as a stupid pop at the royal family that backfired and lost him his job.

Stan Collymore has backed him I notice.

Perhaps a new thread as the title of this one is now out of date. Along the lines of 'Danny Baker has been sacked what else should we do to him'.

Anniebach Fri 10-May-19 12:14:30

Gonegirl the royals and their children wear, suits, jeans, dresses, coats, you don’t ?

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 12:14:31

I not complaining about anything. I'm happily passing the time till it's time to go to the garden centre for my lunch.

The joke SirChenin was in the "hanging jury" thing. Or did you think I really thought you were on a jury. Thread is getting quite John Grisham. grin

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 12:14:32

Gone re your question which was addressed to me, you are scraping the barrel for excuses now. Here is DB with all his experience and knowledge of football and football's inherent racism, yet you are suggesting that, in his innocence, he just didn't notice what he was posting?

Pull the other one .....
