I wondered how long it would be - this BBC employed racist has tweeted a photo( which I won’t post) likening Archie to a chimpanzee. He’s now deleted it and issued a totally inadequate apology ( not that there could be an adequate one). What an absolute shit - I really think he should be sacked immediately

A totally unbelievable disgusting racist comment.
What is wrong with this man.
Made me feel sick.

Lily65 Fri 10-May-19 09:49:15

Obviously your judgement of people’s characters doesn’t go very deep just as long as people are smiley towards you they are lovely people Great

Very true and it extends to so called politicians .

Lily65 Fri 10-May-19 09:54:53

I can read and I read this.

I agree Ellan, and think that very left wing people simply do not care if the ‘victims’ are Royal or wealth

I don't care if these are your views lemon but stop trying to wriggle out of them.

Beckett Fri 10-May-19 09:56:05

I think the majority of people (not just on GN) find his tweet offensive. It doesn't matter if they are left wing, right wing, centerist or of no political view at all. The tweet was offensive - his political affiliation has absolutely nothing to do with it, only his lack of brain cells.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 10:38:12

Beckett you say "only his lack of brain cells"

Then you agree that the tweet was ill thought out, but not necessarily meant to be racist?

trisher Fri 10-May-19 10:41:06

Danny Baker was possibly one of the last working class people employed by the Beeb. He Tweeted an image without thinking too much about what he was doing, perhaps he really isn't interested in who the second son of the heir to the throne has married, and perhaps he hadn't taken in that this person was of mixed race, perhaps he has better things to occupy his time with than the current tabloid obsession with royalty. But hey whilst we have politicians who write about women looking like letter boxes, UKIP and Tommy Robinson condemning Islam, and the Conservative party Chair refusing to investigate racism www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/07/tory-chairman-accused-of-repeatedly-ignoring-racism-complaints-brandon-lewis
(including calling someone an "orang-utan")
let's all get het up about a withdrawn Tweet it is easier after all

Nonnie Fri 10-May-19 10:41:12

crustal you said "It isn’t the point that some white people don't see the racism in the picture, it’s about black people living the racism on a daily basis." I think that puts the emphasis too far. I have good non-white friends who do not experience any racism 'on a daily basis' and who don't go looking for it. One has expressly told me they have never met any racism in their life. I don't think all black people do experience racism and don't think that makes me a racist. I have twice experienced racism and I am not black.

Nonnie Fri 10-May-19 10:44:34

trisher "one of the last working class people employed by the Beeb". That surprises me. I don't know what class the BBC employs but there are some quite difficult to understand accents and some very poor grammar on air. There is a lack of clarity in some broadcasters comments which makes it appear they are not well educated.

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 10:47:38

There is definitely racism to be seen in the picture and tweet, if you look for it. There is also micky taking of royals and the way they dress themselves and their children, to be seen.

You have to decide for yourself which was DB's intention.

Commonsense and instinct tells me it was the latter.

Beckett Fri 10-May-19 10:47:47

Gonegirl Lack of brain cells does not preclude someone from being racist - which he is

Anniebach Fri 10-May-19 10:52:05

One of the last working class people employed by the BBC?

Rubbish

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 10:52:30

Ok. I just think you have to decide whether he put the tweet up through stupidity, not realising how it would be taken, or whether it was simple racism. You obviously think it was the latter.

I wonder how you can be sure. Do you know him personally?

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 10:52:50

that was to Beckett

Gonegirl Fri 10-May-19 10:53:54

I guess your instincts are different to mine.

Beckett Fri 10-May-19 10:57:31

No - do you? as you seem so intent on defending him

SirChenjin Fri 10-May-19 11:01:59

Let's leave instincts to one side for a moment and weigh up the evidence Gone in very simple terms.

Man who in a very multicultural society + a strong affiliation to a football team with many black players + a good grasp of current affairs as a result of working in a worldwide media organisation + a desire to make people laugh by posting a photo of a couple holding the hands of chimp dress to represent M (a black woman), H and the new baby.

Versus

He was just a stupid man, he didn't mean any harm

Number one looks like it would stand up in a court of law (or a bookies, depending on your preference).

Mycatisahacker Fri 10-May-19 11:08:40

I wonder though why Alan Sugar hasn’t been sacked from the beeb?

And why Clarkson was a repeat offender until even he was sacked.

Worth more money re viewing figures?

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 11:12:03

SirChenjin I completely agree - plus you forgot the caption DB put underneath thereby totally linking it to the Royal baby.

Phoebes Fri 10-May-19 11:12:06

I don't understand racism. We are all the same underneath. Why can't people see that? I can't imagine what Danny Baker was thinking - I suppose he thought he was being clever and witty, but he just showed himself up as being stupid and unthinking.

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 11:13:06

Alan Sugar should have been sacked .... but just because one racist has not been dealt with doesn't mean another should get away with it.

Anniebach Fri 10-May-19 11:13:57

So he hadn’t taken in the fact that the media has gone on and on about the marriage of this couple, that she was of mixed race for nearly two years , he has no knowledge of the racist taunts at black footballers , bananas and chimp taunts. It was coincidence that he posted a photograph of a wealthy couple leaving a hospital holding the hands of a monkey .

SirChenjin Fri 10-May-19 11:24:51

Sparkle you're absolutely right, yes - add that he specifically linked that photo to the royal couple and the odds are even more in favour of the first option I posted.

Sparklefizz Fri 10-May-19 11:26:01

Annie His feeble excuses just sound increasingly pathetic because we can all see through them.

Gone mentioned her commonsense earlier - well my commonsense tells me that he has damned himself with his stupid excuses that just won't wash.... surely even to his defenders.

It beats me how anyone could defend someone who makes racist comments about a newborn baby. How low can someone sink???

Anniebach Fri 10-May-19 11:36:35

Sparkle it was a vicious racist jibe at a new born baby and what the hell is meant by him being working class employee of the BBC as a defence. Why am I so shocked after the excuses for anti semetic jibes
