Danny Baker should be sacked immediately

Person of colour is not slightly different from coloured - you need to read up on that C

Sparklefizz

Er Gonegirl did respond to you actually her view was that unless you read the tweet you cant form a view. Seems eminently sensible to me and i usually disagree with ^Gone* on most things.

SirC

I agree it was obviously racist but again I do see very very ugly language used just as ugly as this tweet.

I know feeling run high but feelings are running much too high over most things in the country at the moment and it’s not healthy.

He’s an absurd man and he’s best ignored now.

Also it’s bad etiquette to remark that a poster hasn’t responded to you.

People have lives you know

trisher I m shocked

Gongirl
He was making fun of the clothes they wear. I do not believe he meant to be racist

I looked at your link and yes, he did mean to be racist as he captioned the picture Royal baby leaves hospital'.
The article goes on to say
Danny Baker insists that his tweet isn’t racist because his mind isn’t ‘diseased’

I don't think, in this instance, that he is the best judge of his mind - or lack of it.

From Bluebell "If anyone dares defend him in any way then they are racists too "

What an obnoxious, up-yer-own-arse, ill thought out comment to make.

and who is James O'Brien?
Never heard of him, don't wish to now.

You will see very strident language used when racism is being challenged Mycate. The solution of course is not to exhibit racist behaviour in the first place - although I doubt that any language used in this context can be as ugly as racism itself and the actions of racists over the years.

mycatisahacker - "People have lives you know"

Yes, and they have grocery orders to put online too. Life can't be all GN.

I will, because it has puzzled me - calling someone 'coloured' is not politically correct now, but Dianne Abbott uses the term 'person of colour' - as a politically correct statement.

It is understandable that many people may get confused.

Callistemon - "and who is James O'Brien?
Never heard of him, don't wish to now."

#butsheasked

It's just a quite mind blowingly awful thing to say and do, completely unforgivable . Racist? who knows, but cruel in the extreme? certainly. A comment like this would have been considered appalling 50 years ago! Where on earth has this vile man been that he seems to think this funny? The whole thing beggars belief!

Bluebell is quite right - defending racist behaviour and actions makes you just as racist as the perpetrator.

#butsheasked
Don't answer

You don’t have to use the term politically correct C. DA uses the term she prefers and she’s a person of colour so it’s her choice. If she says black that’s ok too - coloured is a complete non starter

callistermon

He’s a fairly left wing very woke radio presenter on LBC.

SirC

Mmmm I don’t think the words sewer/shit/vile racist are really sensible measured debate.

Racism has been challenged on this thread by practically everyone but I don’t see any purpose Is served by trying to attach new words of hate onto another human being.

He’s been sacked and good riddance.

There seems to be a narrative now that the worst language and the angrier you post here or exhibit in real life the more valid the argument and that’s not the case.

Bluebell said "if anyone defends him in any way (they are racist)

Defending a person for being racist would make the defender racist too. But defending a person accused of racism when the defender believes he was not being racist is not racist.

Get yer head round that then.

To Trisher Baggs and Gonegirl I am truly shocked to the core that you could defend a racist arxxhoxx and see nothing wrong with your views I truly cannot believe what world your heads are in, in 2019 and I am completely lost for words ?

mycat you are being s bit silly

GoneGirl

Sorry I see you did answer upthread but I do find it incredible that people comment on links and then say won’t read them!! Baffling.

I need to book a ferry and a hire car so off!

GG nope - don’t agree. If I used the n word and said I believed it wasn’t racist others don’t suspend their judgement because I’m in denial and support me. He’s a lifelong Milwall supporter and a sometime football commentator . He knows all about monkey connatations

My head is completely clear gonegirl you must be as racist as him and he knew exactly what he was doing that is the most offensive picture I ve seen in a long time and if you think it isn’t you are either as nasty as him or keep your head tucked firmly in the sand and judging by most of your posts I doubt it’s the latter

Unkind and unacceptable way to behave DB. Losing his job was the right decision.

Bluebell said "if anyone defends him in any way (they are racist).

I know she did Gone - and the defender usually believes they are innocent and misunderstood. That doesn't let them off the hook - or the person attempting to justify their racist actions.

Sewer/shit/vile racist versus the centuries of hatred, intolerance, violence, segregation, discrimination etc etc etc that black people have suffered and continue to suffer. You can see why the language might become a bit heated.
