This poem just about sums it up for me today.

Yes, she's resigned. But the nasty, vindictive vitriol coming from so many people this morning is unworthy of the rest of us.

Poor woman. She did her best. She worked so hard and for so long, without any useful help from the rest of them. And now all people can do is kick her when she's down.

Personally I think the whole country should give her the biggest and best bunch of flowers possible, and say THANK YOU FOR TRYING SO HARD!

Now let the vitriol continue....

too right Amagran and why shouldn't she have fought for it. She is/was a very ambitious politician. All because she is female doesn't mean she has to be passive. She never relied on feminine tropes for her power. the only time she cracked was when she lost it. She didn't flirt with ministers like MT and she didn't wheel n her specialness because of motherhood like the loathsome Andrea L. The very least any of us can say about her was she always acted like a grown up. We wont see much of that if Boris gets in.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 09:38:09

Quite right grannygranby
By contrast, sad to say that Boris is the court jester.

crystaltipps Sun 26-May-19 09:42:44

If Boris gets in we might be thinking TM was ok.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 10:42:59

I think it will be Gove.

I hope not Boris because he is in no way a buffoon that’s all show.

It seems to me to be a good assessment of her time as PM that no-one has managed to list any achievements, but there are quite a few posts about her inadequacies and mistakes. I've decided her legacy can only be the UN report on poverty in the UK, the country she says she loves.

grannygranby Sun 26-May-19 11:36:55

yes trisher that should get far more publicity and is directly the fault of the policy of austerity which she did nothing to relieve.

Jane10 Sun 26-May-19 11:40:45

Sigh.

For those who dispute that she had any part in Grenfell - here is the response to TM's resignation from the Fire Brigade Union:
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said:

""Many of the underlying issues at Grenfell were due to unsafe conditions that had been allowed to fester under Tory governments and a council for which Theresa May bears ultimate responsibility.

"The inquiry she launched has kicked scrutiny of corporate and government interests into the long grass, denying families and survivors justice, while allowing business as usual to continue for the wealthy.

"For the outgoing prime minister to suggest that her awful response to Grenfell is a proud part of her legacy is, frankly, disgraceful."

I think there are many who sadly have their eyes wide shut!

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 11:49:01

Where were the fire brigade union when this cladding was being put on???

Surely it was part of their remit to flag this up?

trisher Sun 26-May-19 12:05:00

Ah yes Mcih blame the fire brigade whose numbers have been substantially cut under the Tories meaning that they have problems covering fires never mind implementing any sort of fire safety reviews.
www.fbu.org.uk/news/2019/01/02/fire-incidents-rise-firefighter-numbers-are-drastically-cut-says-fire-brigades-union
But hey it's poor people who die in the fires so maybe it' just a solution to the poverty problem.

Anniebach Sun 26-May-19 12:15:06

Let’s not dismiss the fact , the advice to stay put’ had nothing to do with the number of firemen,

The hypocrisy of the far left is unbelievable, they will discuss Grenfell,Hillsborough but if I bring up another disaster where the enquiry is long past but can still be read , silence .

Anniebach Sun 26-May-19 12:20:17

Where is the poster who said I should apologise for using a disaster to score political points, I speak of a disaster when there had been an enquiry, laying blame before the results
Of an enquiry .is certainly using a disaster to score political points,

Ilovecheese Sun 26-May-19 12:24:41

It was Mrs May who brought up the Grenfell disaster for her own purpose. The fire service just responded to her.

Jane10 Sun 26-May-19 12:41:22

Anniebach don't bother responding. There's no point. It's not like either side is ever going to suddenly agree! I like Theresa. I believe she did her best in hellish circumstances. They just want to points score and blame her for everything that's ever been wrong in the country. No agreement possible. Bit like Westminster?!

trisher Sun 26-May-19 12:47:25

Jane10 perhaps if those who keep supporting her could actually post something positive that TM did during her time as PM there might be some sort of an argument, as it is simply saying you like her isn't enough. And if the poverty figures are her best goodness knows what the worst would be.

Anniebach Sun 26-May-19 12:52:20

True Jane10 , yes she did her best and always with grace and dignity

soop Sun 26-May-19 13:00:04

Well said, Anniebach. flowers

trisher Sun 26-May-19 13:00:53

So it's Ok to preside over increasing poverty and inequality as long as you do it with grace and dignity. I believe Queen Victoria did that.

Jabberwok Sun 26-May-19 13:20:20

If Queen Victoria presided etc, then presumably our present Queen has done the same?!! As both are/were constitutional monarchs, then in fact neither of these ladies have!!

Anniebach Sun 26-May-19 13:46:52

I suppose she could have said ‘bugger Brexit, I have other matters which need my attention some remainers would be praising her now, I am a remainer but admire her for battling on with grace and dignity, she was a remainer but she honoured the result of the referendum

Anniebach Sun 26-May-19 13:49:17

Ooops, and she didn’t plonk her bottom on a fence as did the leader of the opposition, he is still there

MaizieD Sun 26-May-19 13:53:14

I suppose she could have said ‘bugger Brexit, I have other matters which need my attention some remainers would be praising her now,

If she'd said that we would probably never have found out just how much more dreadful she is than we already knew from her tenure of the Home Office.

Or she could , even now, be trundling towards the Guillotine in an open cart where a little group of Gnet Leavers sit knitting while waiting for the traitor to be disposed of...

Buffybee Sun 26-May-19 14:02:38

I've just watched a clip of TM's resignation speech again.
In my opinion the tears were entirely for herself and the way she stomped off after, appeared quite petulant.
Not what we want from a leader, quite honestly it was cringeworthy.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 14:19:47

tricher

I wasn’t blaming the fire service in any way so calm down dear I was however wondering how on earth these fire experts didn’t shout up at the time and warn that this cladding was dangerous.
