Very good point Dinahmo. I suppose I was thinking of Ruth Davidson, Scottish Conservative leader, who - less than a year ago - was describing Trump as a threat to Western democracy. I don't think she's a Boris fan either, but word is she's mellowing on that score.

If I ask these Trump lovers how they could think he's great and quote some of the awful things he's said, they reply 'fake news'. The world's gone mad.

It's worrying that otherwise intelligent people can like him. Has anyone seen Diamond and Silk? Those two ladies adore him, campaign on his behalf and blog about his merits.

The one place I hope Trump behaves himself impeccably is at the war remembrance ceremonies, which would be an inappropriate place for his tantrums and tweets.

Yes, I completely agree Caledonailand also hope fervently that those wanting to demonstrate against Trump steer well clear of that event. It would be completely disrespectful to all concerned.

His is a state visit. I hope his advisors have primed him on royal protocol. Prince Charles has to meet him for tea I believe. If there ever was a meeting of minds, this is not it! They are polar opposites. The royal family are professionals. No matter how odious they think Trump is, they won't let it show.

It still baffles me that such a strange man as Trump can be 'leader of the free world.' However, OH has three very bright ex colleagues, Americans, academics in Uni research, who believe Trump has done wonders for America and politics in general.

While there is no question that the USA is a very powerful force in the world – financially, militarily and culturally – I don't think the President has ever been "the leader of the free world" and certainly the current President isn't. It's just one of those overblown populist phrases.

It is worth reminding people that Donald Trump, like George W. Bush, didn't win the popular vote; he was conclusively defeated by Hillary Clinton. He became President because of the archaic Electoral College system whereby votes in some states carry more weight than in others.

I have no doubt that the Royal Family will treat him with unfailing courtesy, but it must be galling for the Prince of Wales to remember his comments about "nailing" his late wife and I don't suppose Prince Harry is ecstatic about his "nasty" wife either.

His advisors may have primed and prepared him to the enth degree, Day6, but Trump being Trump, he will either ignore any advice (because he thinks he knows best) or just "forget" how things should be done.

Before the fraudulent referendum, the leaders of all UK parties except UKIP, and the leaders of every other EU nation, all our allies, like the President of the USA, and the Prime Ministers or Presidents of Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa. China, Japan. and every other civilized nation, supported REMAIN except for Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and the French Fascist Marine le Pen who were the only foriegn politicians on the Leave side.

If I had been considering that I might vote leave this knowledge would have made me think again and I would have realised I was in danger of backing the wrong side.

Was the average Leave voter aware of this or did they just not care that they were doing the bidding of Putin, who has never had this country's best interests at heart?
