The Monarch has no political power. Her speeches will be entirely apolitical - unlike Trumps who are entirely political and entirely off the wall.

Whitewave, yes I agree, Trump seems to fumble for words at times, almost as though his brain is in a bit of a fog. He is of course, not a young man (not sure of his age) and many people start to suffer some cognitive loss at his age, although of course, many don’t and are entirely able to articulate clearly into their 90s. He also seems to need the reassurance of Melania at times, and reaches for her hand, but she’s not always forthcoming, I suspect she’s a very private person, and being First Lady was never in her game plan.
Like you Whitewave, I can’t in all reality call him evil, but that doesn’t mean I applaud everything he’s done. I think we just have to accept that he is the democratically chosen leader of the USA. Some British people complain about the system in the USA which actually gave Hilary Clinton (one of my sons included) a higher number of actual votes, but I take the view that it’s their system and nothing to do with me.

He's out there and as others have said, he makes no apologies for unpopular choices.
Blustering and opinionated he may be but we could do with someone like him to shake up our creaking, warring government.

Callistemon, I agree- There is no excuse for it and I apologize, I meant no harm by it- It was a shoddy comment-

I don't excuse the crummy stuff and off the cuff comments that Trumps makes, but at the same time I understand where he is coming from- As well as where he comes from: Queens, New York- Home of the Ramones, Rockaway Beach, working stiffs (like Archie Bunker..) and .. sarcasm ..

His flaws are glaring- Yet, he's used those very flaws to draw attention to the issues that many of us have been muttering about under our breath about a very, very long time-

The US has absorbed other country's over-production, for example- But that's not the way Trump would say it- He would be more like, “I don’t blame China- After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country to the benefit of its citizens?”

And that above quote was considered a milder Trump approach by the media, by many ..

Monday may be H.M. the Queen's official birthday which we celebrate with a Public Holiday, but pragmatists man the essential services seeing as how hourly pay rates are doubled thanks to the Unions, and so all the nonsense about staunch repubs, royalists, monarchists etc is chucked out the window; they all welcome the chance to earn extra cash.
Btw; we'll certainly enjoy this long week-end with "wall to wall" sunshine forecast each day and 18C. Not bad for Winter! Now waiting to see who features in the Honours List (OZ Branch.) OoRoo

I had a friend at college who had a dreadful stammer but, despite that, went on to become President of the SU.
I admired him very much.
We have an ex-politician and a well-known political broadcaster who both overcame stammers too.

I've got a navy blue East skirt. It's washed up very patchily. Still wear it though. At least it fits. Was a bit loose when I bought it. I've grown into it.
