has anyone seen the news of the lesbian couple goaded by young men to kiss for their entertainment and then attacked because they wouldn't "perform" ? What the hell is going on down south with racist attacks and this ....surely the days of gay people having to hide what they are should be long gone .What ARE these young men being taught or watching that makes them behave in such an appalling way?

Goodness, what on earth is going on up north paddyann? Yes this attack was awful and totally unacceptable, but it isn't confined to London or even "down south" seems Scotland has its own problems.

Truly appalling and utterly sick-making. Perhaps when "girl on girl" porn, specifically designed for male viewers (voyeurs), stops being so popular among heterosexual men, this kind of obscene violence will cease.

These poor young women were humiliated, brutalised and robbed. No, we do not yet live in a society where gay people do not have to hide who they are, but when they don't hide who they are, they risk abuse and violence.

This was an appalling attack on two young women using public transport to get home. What kind of young men are these, one has to wonder. What homes do they come from? Where are there parents?

My thoughts are with those poor young women.

There are more and more people who are unbalanced than is ever reported. These thugs, those who kill/murder are all mentally unbalanced. Normal people don't carry out such acts of violence as it doesn't enter their heads to do so.
To be completely out of control is a sickness.

I hope these thugs get the punishment they deserve------though I won't hold my breath, sadly, as there's no deterrent. Professor David Wilson should have been given a position in the police force. He of the series " Borstal Boys " .

A disgusting and unprovoked attack. Almost as if we are heading back to the dark ages. At least, according to paddyann, these awful things don’t happen oop north and presumably in Scotland.

Niobe Sun 09-Jun-19 09:09:30

Sorry to burst Paddyann's little bubble but I lived in Glasgow for 60 years ( from the age of 3 to 63) and I can assure her that I heard of many such incidents over the years the worst one involved the rape of a young couple, both the young man and his girlfriend were raped. It is certainly not confined to the South. Scotland is not immune to the evil acts of a minority.

Absent, I absolutely agree with you about the malign influence of pornography.

janipat Sun 09-Jun-19 09:18:45

I agree with absent that the "girl on girl" porn so readily available online is a major factor in these sorts of attacks. I read that the initial arrests stated them as teenagers 15-18 years old.

Charleygirl5 Sun 09-Jun-19 09:21:53

The men were caught the following day and the youngest was apparently 15 years of age. Did his parents not know he was out and about on night buses or did they not care. Yes I know, I am showing my age. It was an appalling attack but is not confined to "down south".

EllanVannin Sun 09-Jun-19 09:27:12

Some people really are depraved ! Back to the Victorian days, eh ? Depravity today isn't unlike it was back then !

Sara65 Sun 09-Jun-19 09:27:32

Absolutely sick!

Sometimes I despair at the world we live in, what the hell is going on, when two young girls get attacked on a bus, because is their sexual orientation? I feel so angry!

Bridgeit Sun 09-Jun-19 09:34:02

It’s very concerning,
There seems to be a a resurgence of intolerance to sections of the community.

Coconut Sun 09-Jun-19 10:13:23

The internet I feel has exacerbated this, so many sad and very sick people in our world today.

Legs55 Sun 09-Jun-19 10:24:11

I was horrified to read about this attack, my DD is in a same sex marriage & has never encountered this sort of abuse. I hear that the "thugs" who were arrested have been released. Britain was once a tolerant society or so we were toldhmm

Blinko Sun 09-Jun-19 10:26:57

Oops, just re read my post. It should of course read '...their parents..'

kazziecookie Sun 09-Jun-19 10:47:09

I though horrible how these young women were treated.
I agree with some of the comments earlier about girl on girl porn being readily available to young teenagers and maybe influencing them.
This week I wanted a picture of a cute kitten for my Facebook page and silly me put “Cute Pussy” into a google images search and up popped a page full of ladies private parts blush
In the last few days here in Plymouth we have had a group of about 30 youths cycling around swearing and causing mayhem. What is the world coming to?

FarNorth Sun 09-Jun-19 10:52:53

janipat, two of your three links are from 2000 : 19 years ago.

jura2 Sun 09-Jun-19 10:57:23

Just appalling and sad. Was disgusted.

And at the same time when there is talk all over the place about 'straight pride parades' - after the Boston one - organised and attended by the very 'type' of men who perpetrated this horrible attack.

whywhywhy Sun 09-Jun-19 11:02:37

I truly think this country is heading back to the caveman days! It is so worrying as my youngest son is gay and I worry every day about him. It is supposed to be 2019! When I saw these two girls bloodied faces on the TV I could have been sick. I hope them lads come to their senses but I doubt it.

NotSpaghetti Sun 09-Jun-19 11:11:11

I don’t think the internet has exacerbated this incident Coconut - it has reported it pretty fully it seems but it can’t be responsible for exacerbating.

Jishere Sun 09-Jun-19 11:18:50

Well unfortunately we are living in a time where respect has gone.
I see it every day on my way to work with commuters - grown people putting there shoes on the seat. And with all these devices everyone is looking down on their phones or speaking loudly into them. I have been picked on twice because of a slight disability I have, luckily I held my own.

What matters is the 'self' and here we have a lot of knife crime and youngsters are running scared in case they are next. I even watched a program where a Dad was blaming his community regarding his son misbehaviour. Wake up if the community is that bad move!!! take some responsiblity!!

These thugs on the bus were spoiling for a fight. But until something is done - bring back national service or send them somewhere where there they have to do hard labour - they will do it again !!!

Every day I read how soft our punishments are in this country and how prisoners have rights. This country is a mess!! In lots of ways this country needs disciple and real believe that if you are arrested for a serious crime and found guilty then your human rights and any luxuries ar gone. Instead of focusing on reform focus on where respect should lie - with the victim/s.

Rosina Sun 09-Jun-19 11:29:40

I also worry about the seeming upsurge in violence, particularly knife crime, but you think people are very much worse than they were, or is the increase in violence in part due to a larger population, and the fact that everything is reported every hour on the hour and there is no escape? The police tell us that there has been an increase in knife crime, but some weeks ago it was reported that since the much maligned 'stop and search ' has been stepped up again the incidents have fallen. We do really need to get tough with people who think it is ok to attack strangers simply because they are there, or they are perceived to be 'different'. Many parents seem to feel, as others have said, that it is the responsibility of the school, the police, the local community - anyone but them - to instil the right behaviour in the child.

Jishere Sun 09-Jun-19 12:29:26

We deffo hear news quicker these days - so really there is no need to buy a paper! But no I think years ago we had the gangsters who in there own circle were violent but still had respect for elderly, etc,...
A lot of knife crime is gang related but seems to be spilling out because more youngster are carrying for protection.

Grandma70s Sun 09-Jun-19 13:30:18

Good heavens, Jishere, I hope we are still too civilised a country to take away people’s human rights! We are (mostly) not Nazis.

These louts should certainly be punished, of course, and we need to improve education and show less violence on media. A more equal society would help, but how we achieve that I can’t think.
