They don't want you - just your money!

Laurens van de Poste was perhaps not the best choice for Prince William as he must have been about 78 when he was godfather, although he did live until he was about 90.

"drip feeding" is a classic way of raising interest in something that isnt otherwise that interesting.

They're making sure that we notice & remember this lot of god parents..

* Paddyann* I know this your line of expertisesmile

Would you have been satisfied with the 'gap'?

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-19 18:47:06

I don't think Dick van Dyke ever made the line up though.

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-19 18:44:21

There's a van Cutsem and a van Straubenzee as well. Not sure who is godfather to whom.

Lot of vans about. grin

eazybee Sat 06-Jul-19 18:37:08

Can anyone remember any of the royal godparents?
All I can think of is Laurens van der Poste (?) for Prince William. (possibly).

paddyann Sat 06-Jul-19 18:33:06

taken by a fashion photographer cherrytree59 its a different style from family portaiture .

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-19 18:13:02

He'll have to give Archie some lessons

That's if he's ever allowed a live performance in front of a camera.

Cherrytree59 Sat 06-Jul-19 18:10:22

I only mentioned the green gap on the back of the couch because it drew my eye and made the photo look lop sided (IMHO).
Nothing to do with body language.

I would have thought that
an experienced Royal photographer would have adjusted the sitters and avoided gaps causing another sitter to
appear to be out on a limb.

As I said just my opinion.
It was still a pleasant christening photograph.

Although thinking about it, I suppose the press may go down the body language root, hey ho.

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 18:05:13

or was it Louis?
Yes, Louis is now!
He'll have to give Archie some lessons

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 18:04:32

Give him a break.
Anyway, it's Charlotte who is the best waver.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 18:00:21

Well, he could have given us a wave. Don't ask much. wink

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 17:55:09

Isnt it funny how the more minor royals are the ones who think that waving and smiling is "beneath" them. And the more major royals have more modesty and humility than to act like that!
If Archie was smiling in his photos, people would only say that he had wind.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:52:40

Put it in a balloon and let it float away notanan.

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 17:51:28

The whole secrecy of where she would give birth thing reminds me of couples who tell EVERYONE that they have found out the baby's sex but they arent telling anyone hmm

(As opposed to just saying "its a surprise" if they know but want to keep it private)

They create all this mystery over essentially mundane things like godparents and the hospital its real drama queen stuff.... they are doing a "Di" and here is the truth about her: she wasnt that popular with the public when she was alive!

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:51:21

(I have got quite a vivid imagination hmm)

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:50:22

Yes. And not a birthmark in sight. Phew!

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-19 17:49:49

At least we get to see his whole face and not just the top half.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:45:26

No! I don't think it is body language at all. grin It's just the way the photographer "arranged" them.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:44:37

HootyMcOwlface I read that too. I think we will soon know who the godparents are. grin

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 17:43:37

OMG

Detailed analysis grin
Do we have body language experts on GN? grin

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:43:10

I suppose Meghan needed that big cushion behind her to help support the baby. But it might have been better if they had been sitting in the centre of the couch.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 17:41:10

When you look at the inner chair legs of Kate and Camilla's chairs, they are evenly spaced away from the couch. I think it's just that Kate is sitting more upright, and is thinner than Camilla.

Cherrytree59 Sat 06-Jul-19 17:39:11

Oh dear I was hoping for another piece of the Royal jigsaw puzzle!

A cute little bow shaped mouth would have been nice. grin

Lovely photo.
But here comes the but....
because Meghan is leaning in to Harry, my eye was drawn to the green back of the couch and the distance between her and Kate.
Photo appeared Imho a little lop sided.smile

I read somewhere yesterday that C of E records are all publicly available, you just need to apply for a copy of a certificate and pay the fee. I’m sure one of the papers will do it and find out who’s listed as godparents.
