I wonder how much of the Conservative Party this election will be hollowed out. We have already seen ministers making it clear they wouldn't work for Johnson and I see in the YP that the "Conservative chief in Leeds quits party and condemns 'Brexiteer-in-Chief ' Boris Johnson as unelectable. We have also had local councillors resign from the party.

Once these people leave the party I doubt they will return.

Some of the posters here have asked - why is Boris thought to be intelligent? And the answer is - at the very least - that he has done well enough academically to demonstrate intelligence. He won a scholarship to Eton and nearly got an Oxford first in classics- in spite of spending much of his time on other things like being President of the Oxford Union. Of course, it is not enough to be intelligent to be wise, to have good judgment or to succeed as a PM. And that is the test he now has to face.

I am puzzled as to why anyone should think his speech was good, let alone ‘cracking’. I thought he stood up and had his usual shout ....

Theresa May's final question time was, for those who appreciated her tireless effort to work a miracle in the face of insurmountable odds, good humoured and gracious.

No, Firecrcker, whatever Johnson's views on anything whatsoever, I would not expect him to be a good Prime Minister.

He would make a good contributor to HIGNFW, though the regular members would make mincemeat of him. All great entertainment - but negotiating ourselves out of (or back into) our EU contract and into contracts with other trading groups is not entertainment, it is deadly serious.

I wish him well, and hope he doesn’t face the bullying from other MPs that Theresa May had to endure. Oh, I forgot, they probably won’t bully a man!

I don't think Boris is cut out to be a PM. Look what a mess he made of being Foreign Secretary - causing Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe to have her prison sentence lengthened because he never checked the details of what she was actually doing in Iran.

He has been used to using subordinates to do all the groundwork for him when he was Mayor of London and then taking all the credit for it.

He has wasted millions of London council taxpayers' money on his vanity projects. He is a stranger to telling the truth and hates being scrutinised and accountable.

Yes, he's entertaining but the blustering buffoon and the Tory Party members who voted for him are not representative of the electorate as a whole. this country. That requires good policies and planning.

Anyone can stand up and promise everything to everyone without a plan or explaining where all the money is coming from. He will find out soon enough that making promises is easy - being able to deliver them is another matter.

The issues in the world today are extremely serious.

They require the very best people to deal with them.

All Countries need the most level-headed and intelligent and ethical people as their Leaders and in Government.

We need such people at this time very urgently.

The ability to negotiate, keep the peace, understand the issues, quickly learn and keep abreast of the background of all the matters he has to address, to be respected and regarded as a man of poise and respectability, to act with propriety and poise in the most dangerous and sensitive of negotiations, are all essential elements required in our Prime Minister right now.

The dreadful fact is, Boris has none of these and the world knows this. He is a scurrilous and ignominious character, as his deeds and the words of his own mouth have blatantly shown.

We, in our Country, as Apricity, early on in our discussion so brilliantly described, are in great trouble right now.

The issues, to which Jura correctly turned our attention are: as she says (better still re-read her whole message)

I don’t think May was cut out for being PM either, and Corbyn sure as hell isn’t.However, we sometimes get inept PM’s along with the good ones..the world doesn’t end.
The Johnson topic needs to be revisited in six months.

The Foreign Sec deals with the Iran situation, not Johnson.
