Pritti Patel

A US company wants to bid for a very lucrative contract for the Ministry of Defence. It has emerged that Pritti Patel had a contract to advise the company for which she was to be paid £1000 per hour for 5 hours work per month for 5 months. Her contract began in May and on 31 July, after being appointed Home Secretary, she withdrew saying that she had not worked for the company during July. I suppose she managed to fit those few hours of work into her parliamentary schedule.

Why do such contracts invariably go overseas?

I'm glad you remember that jura as I've often mentioned it but no one ever seems to be aware of it. Wasn't Thatcher paid a lot of money to promote cigarettes in Third World countries? Didn't realise about Ken Clarke, though.

Priti Patel informed us a few weeks ago that EU free movement would end on 31 October this year. However, the plan seems to have hit a few snags. Anybody with some common sense could have told her it was insane. Now she has been told and the government has backtracked.
How can we trust this government? Many EU nationals are already under pressure, this latest show of incompetence and disrespect will just make matters worse.

We now hear of more and more cases where EU nationals who have lived here for many years and have applied for settled status have had their application rejected. On the radio yesterday there was an interview with a lady (74 years old) who has lived here for 50 years, married to a Brit, worked and contributed. She has not been accepted for settled status. She was clearly distraught as were her family members.

This morning on the Andrew Marr show Priti Patel had the nerve to say that the settlement scheme was fit for purpose. AM reminded her of her promise that ”There will be no change for EU citizens already lawfully in residence in the UK. These EU citizens will automatically be granted indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom”.
AM suggested that this promise was in fact not being fulfilled. She bluntly denied this.

If she is Home Secretary she must know that the scheme is not as smooth and easy as was claimed at its start. She must have heard about these cases, but no, she would not give an inch. Shameful!

Don't complain, the lady is simply following her lying leader. Well maybe confused

Pretti by name but far from pretty by nature.

Errrmmm...actually she's a liar in her own right - and has form for acting on her own initiative. Hence, her announcement that FoM would end on 31 October and her unauthorised meeting(s) with Israeli government officials.

If anything, she's one of the MPs pulling Johnson's strings, not the other way round.
