Haven’t the opposition been asking for a “Queens Speech” at Wednesday questions repeatedly.

They have now got what they asked for, Parliament is always closed/suspended beforehand.

Must say I have never been a Royalist and I felt strange indeed when I had to swear allegiance to HRH in 1973- not sure I'd do it now.

But I have grown to respect our Queen over the years, and see all the positive sides. Not keen on all the angers on, and they carry on. And yes, I have been shocked to read today the real attacks on HRH, that I have never seen before, and could never imagine. I do feel our Monarchy has been really damaged today, perhaps beyond repair, as had Democracy and the Great Britain we all loved.

Lemongrove- you can mock social media all your want- but it has been a real lifeline in so many ways to British immigrants in the EU- as the stress and anxiety of the unknown and the worry of losing all have been rising. And the feelings expressed are very real.

What will Boris hope to do now his prorogation request has been granted?

Perhaps he might hope to force Remainers to rush forward with their plans next week in a legislative controlled explosion, gambling that they either will fall flat on their face and leave him looking stronger, or succeed and give him the perfect excuse to then demand a “People vs Parliament” election.

jura2, in regard to your post @-19:41 today, there is also much criticism of the Queen now taking place that i have never witnessed prior to her being "dragged" into this debacle.

There has been criticism of the overall position of royalty in a modern Britain in the past. However, i have never witnessed the very harsh verbal attacks and criticism of her personality that are now taking place online and in workplaces such as ours today.

The Queen has always been a zenith of stability in a changing Britain throughout her sixty-seven-year reign, and to see that so besmirched for political gain i and my wife find very upsetting.

I feel that even amongst Johnsons own Conservative Party members today's events at Balmoral may have been a step too far by a very long way.

Grandad to answer your point....I would rather we had a deal with the EU.We had a deal with them and Parliament voted against it three times.They have told us many times that a better deal is not on offer ( although it’s never over until it’s over!) The legal position, is, as you know ,that we will leave on 31st October without a deal, and if we don’t get one then we will leave...we have to, as our country cannot on go on in this way.There would be disruption, and perhaps shortages, but this would be resolved as time goes on.

The EU is not being intrasigeant- it is clear, and always was- that they cannot agree to a Deal that puts the UK, a leaving member, into a better position than its own members.

Remember all would suffer in such circumstance, but it is always the old, the very young, the sick and the most vulnerable that suffer the most at such times.

But of course the Brexiteer leaders and their followers care nothing for such persons in pursuit of their Brexit dream of taking back control.

before we fully knew and understand the disruption in supply chains, be it for industry, be it for medicines and isotopes, and so so much more - we could have agreed to disagree.

But now, we know, we understand - and if and when jobs are lost, people begin to not get the treatment they need (yes, including our grandchidren), and 1000s upon 1000s of cattle and sheep are culled, and so much more, like resurgence of violence in NI and trouble in Europe, and the takeover of our standards and regulations, and markets, by Trump and others - yes we will blame Brexiteers who were prepared to gamble it all for their outdated dinosaur pride in Ye Olde Empire.

totally disagree (fancy that, hey) - a petition means an awful lot- especially one that grows that fast. It won't get to Parliament (for all sorts of reasons- proroguing bing the main one) - but it will get to the Press, to TV, to people in the UK who are watching. The whole world is watching is disbelief and shock, btw. Listen to foreign news Channels and read the Press and see. The consensus is that we have overtaken Trump's USA in the stupidity stakes - first and great at last - at being gullible idiots. (tempted to use other words- but will keep it polite and clean). Cons indeed.

There seems to be among leave supporters on this thread a sense of celebration today. However, i feel that the day's developments have very much strengthened the prospects of a no-confidence motion placed before the House of Commons being met with success.

It would seem that even Margret Hodge and Margret Beckett both arch critics of Jeremy Corbyn are now stating they would support a motion such as the above.

However, i feel that the problem come about on the fall of this shambles of a government that should the administration resign and call a General Election that campaign would be taking place at the time Britain actually "crashed out" of the European Union.

It would then be very possible that should there be disruption in the supply chain in regard to food, fuel and drugs, parliament would not be in session to agree any emergency legislation that may be very necessary for that situation.

Whether forum members are in favour of leave or remain, l believe all should think on that circumstance.

Parliament asked for and agreed the extension to the WDA until 31/10, if they haven’t been able to sort it out in three years, an extension of three days to the suspension of Parliament due to party conferences and the Queens speech is not going to bring about a “light bulb moment” of cross bench agreement.

The UK businesses and citizens need closure, in or out (I am beyond caring to be totally honest), so they can move forward.
