I am livid to see this and well done to Caroline Lucus for calling him out on it.

I wonder how his fans here regard this behaviour?

Imagine a female, possibly even an overweight one ( !) behaving in such a manner or a left winger or Diane Abbott or just about anybody really!! It is quite unbelievable.

Maddyone. Oh dear. Brainwashed by the Daily mail. He held dialogue with terrorists as part of the peace talks. And he us NOT antisemute. Being anti Israeli state is not being antisemute. What is so difficult to grasp?

maddyone Fri 06-Sept-19 11:36:43

Kickas, cheap comment, but the problem is, I don’t read The Daily Mail, but I do watch BBC, ITV, Sky News.

maddyone Fri 06-Sept-19 11:37:31

I don’t agree with you Kickas, get over it.

knickas63 Fri 06-Sept-19 11:43:44

Maddyone. So you agree that being anti Israeli is being antisemite?

GracesGranMK3 Fri 06-Sept-19 12:30:36

Of course being against the actions of the government of Israel is not being anti-semitic. Where on earth does that come from and just who is saying it is?

lemongrove Fri 06-Sept-19 12:35:21

Comrade Corbyn was never part of the official peace process
knickas ......he just chose to side with the IRA and invite them to tea at the HOC.Any enemy of the UK was good enough for him.

maddyone Fri 06-Sept-19 13:04:43

Precisely Lemon.

humptydumpty Fri 06-Sept-19 13:26:01

Ridiculous.

GracesGranMK3 Fri 06-Sept-19 14:14:31

When did you join MI5 or is it 6 Lemongrove? Obviously, you know exactly who did what during the peace process so do tell. I am sure it's fascinating.

maddyone Fri 06-Sept-19 14:27:15

Lemon, you can’t give away your sources, official secret act you know grin

lemongrove Fri 06-Sept-19 16:05:49

??

I’m afraid I have no respect for politicians, and, the House of Lords...well! I wouldn’t mind £300 a day to snooze, you can even turn up, stay a few minutes and then walk back out and still get your £300. Likewise if you have dementia! How can anyone make an informed decision or join a debate with such a disease? How many have you seen in both Houses, snoozing, especially in the House of Lords?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 07-Sept-19 08:27:59

It is worth extending just for this to happen

Dr Matt Prescott

Jacob REES MOGG may have to disclose all of his offshore accounts in January 2020 in order to enable full scrutiny by tax authorities.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 07-Sept-19 08:32:13

Sir Nicolas Soames and his opinion go Mogg

He told The Times: “I wanted to kick him firmly in the arse and say, ‘What the hell do you think you are playing at? Sit up!’

“[Rees-Mogg] is a living example of what a moderately cut double-breasted suit and a decent tie can do with an ultra-posh voice and a bit of ginger stuck up his arse. You do not behave like that as leader of the House

growstuff Sat 07-Sept-19 09:29:29

Did Soames really say the last bit? shock

WadesNan Sat 07-Sept-19 09:42:53

Do you really want to take Soames on as your hero:

Voted against additional government funding for local authorities

Voted against removing heredity peers

Voted against paying higher benefits to those unable to work through illness or disability

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 11:18:37

Quite frankly I don't give a damn about peoples voting records at this moment in time. All that matters is what's happening here and now and anyone who speaks out about the shambolic state of our country and it's government is a hero in my eyes. Let's worry about voting records etc when we put our damaged country back together again.

quizqueen Sat 07-Sept-19 11:22:53

I am a great fan of Jacob but even I don't approve of this reclining look. What is more disgusting though is that there were empty spaces in the chamber for him to spread himself out on. At this most important time in our history, every MP should be in the H of C every day for every debate. In fact they should all be there for every debate, no matter what the subject- that's what we pay them for.

quizqueen Sat 07-Sept-19 11:23:54

Take a look at the European Parliament debates too. Hardly anyone there too or else a lot of them are asleep!

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 11:59:32

Well, Farage was never there supporting the people he was supposed to be supporting [eg the fishermen].Only turned up to criticise the EU. Don't think the new Brexit MEP's bother to turn up either, do they?

varian Sat 07-Sept-19 15:42:21

In the Local Elections earlier this year in Rees-Mogg heartland, angry voters turned to the Lib Dems because of the Brexit chaos.

For the first time in living memory, the Mendip ward where Rees Mogg lives has elected a councillor who is not a Tory.

In each of the last general elections Mogg's majority has been reduced. If there is a "Remain Alliance" at the next election, he could be booted out.

I would think that his insulting behaviour in the House of Commons must increase the chances of that.

Jabberwok Sat 07-Sept-19 16:20:44

I think the Speakers comments to Michael Gove were way more insulting than JRM having a well earned zzzzz in the H of C but no one seems bothered by that! Look hard enough and you'll see politicians of all persuasions having the odd forty winks, usually in the middle of some stultifying debate!

EnglishRose Sat 07-Sept-19 17:35:03

How can anyone be 'livid' about JRM half lying on a Commons bench ??? Surely that takes it all too far? Be livid about the attack on our democracy by all means, but a simple repose from a politician. Good Lord. What have we come to.

They sleep in the House of Lords. Camera footage has caught them many a time. I suggest perspective is called for here!

varian Sat 07-Sept-19 17:37:12

JRM is supposed to be the Leader of the House of Commons and leaders are supposed to set an example.

I was hardly a fan of the last leader, Andrea Leadsom, but I cannot imagine her behaving in such a boorish manner. Can you?

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 17:53:41

Why are people on here defending him when even his fellow MP's are angry at his behaviour?
