Why are "Leavers" so angry?

In a long life I've often voted for the side which didn't win. I just accepted that I had lost.
What met people like me who voted 'leave' was a torrent or abuse. I was accused of being racist, uneducated, ignorant and so on. I tried not to retaliate because we had won. Or had we ?

You've summed up the Leave argument and answered all the questions you pose in your post in one sentence there.

It has been said for years that if we had a referendum on hanging, the majority of the population would vote for it. Is this the kind of country we want to live in? Where serious decisions are made as a kind of lowest common denominator result?

It could have something to do with broken promises?!! People voted in the belief that the result of the referendum would be respected! Both main political party's emphasised this not once or even twice, but again, and again, signing article 50, going into a GE on the back of delivering Brexit, and we in our ignorance believed them! Why would we not?!! Did they, our presumably educated politicians not know what the were promising or signing up for?!! If they didn't, how on earth could we?!! If they did, and are now just blaming and catcalling brexiteers in order to cover their own hides, then I suggest that this impasse is wholly and solely the fault of our appalling set of MP's who have persistently and duplicitously , while pretending to support Brexit, done their utmost to destroy it! The general public understand perfectly clearly that they have been led by the nose not once but again and again by politicians and surprise, surprise they are just a little angry, as remainers would be, quite rightly, if it were the other way round! You lie to people on an industrial scale they are bound to be very angry! Its perfectly simple so why are you remainers surprised?!!

If you all want MPs to calm down with their language and attitudes, then start here on GN by doing the same....just a thought.

Exactly growstuff, the post of N&G shows the kind of limited thinking that should never have been allowed out on the streets. 40 years of a complicated relationship, both trading and cultural, and these people think it can be dismantled with the wave of a wand and with no consequences. I can't bear it.

Strange isn’t it? I see the angry ones as the remainers ( certainly on GN.)
They throng onto the political threads and spend half their day typing insults to anyone who doesn’t agree with them.
Which is why it’s almost always remainers who start these angry Brexit related threads.

Trisher I feel so distraught about Brexit that I can hardly bear to look at the news at the moment but I totally acknowledge and agree with what you say.

My answer is false news and disinformation and powers behind Brexit that are able to finance the economic breakdown they're looking for, for their own reasons.

This matter should never have been put to the population as a referendum and as a simple in/out question. I now feel that the population of this country are so poorly educated, that our media, especially the tabloids, are so manipulative and allowed to print outright lies without censure, and that we now have a world where anyone can say what they like, make up what they like, challenge what they like. For example, the man reported a while ago challenging Tony Blair and saying he knew as much as he so his view was equally valid.

I found myself in a car with two older women recently and at the mercy of their outrage about a delayed Brexit. 'I was even a Remainer' declared one of them, with a dribble of rage, 'but now I see how the EU are bullying us, that I just want out'. Where did she get her information from? You can guess. As far as I can see, the EU are doing their best to wait politely while the UK implodes.

It's outrageous that these kind of people think they know what they know, despite the fact that they are flying in the face of so many reports by authoritative bodies and businesses setting out with great clarity the disaster a No Deal will lead to, never mind Brexit itself.

I despair, I've started thinking that rule by an educated elite would be preferable to so-called People Power. I fear we are on our way to a Fascist state and I feel helpless.

I disagree. Unless alcohol fuelled, I've never witnessed such aggression from so many people.

. They want the old days back. I think. Great back in Britain, ect. those days have gone but some of those who voted leave think Brexit will do that not seeing the bigger picture.

Maybe some of them have finally realised they've been treated like useful vote fodder.

Apart from the pound shorters and hedgies etc., they seem like angry people who were promised a chance to have their own way with the bonus of a gold plated unicorn. I don't think they regret their decision. They're still angry because they realise they were conned, but they're so programmed for Brexit, they can't change track.
