I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

Joelsnan I haven't said that it's unpleasant. In fact I think it's all part of the game.

Opal Tue 29-Oct-19 15:22:51

Dinahmo - my request for justification was purely mimicking what remainers have been doing to leavers for the last three years. The fact that some remainers are up in arms about it speaks volumes. The phrase "Do as say, not as I do" springs to mind.

lemongrove Tue 29-Oct-19 16:29:27

We don’t criticise GN members for the way they vote in a GE do we, so why do Remainers ( should I say ultra Remainers)
Criticise the way posters voted three years ago?
At least....we never did, but am thinking that if the Johnson government is returned with a healthy majority ( quite possible) then certain posters would be criticising other posters quite loudly on the politics pages ( instead of having a go at politicians.)I think it shows how GN and probably most social media sites have changed over the years, and not for the better.
We didn’t do this in the past did we? We went out and voted, and sometimes Labour won and other times the Conservatives and we all accepted it, democracy in action.
Nowadays some people accept nothing, if it doesn’t mirror their exact thinking and they feel thwarted, then they howl about it.

lemongrove I totally agree with your post 16.29

Chestnut Tue 29-Oct-19 16:38:05

Well said Lemongrove especially the last sentence.

varian Tue 29-Oct-19 20:11:51

The leavers certainly look worried about being thwarted.

petra Tue 29-Oct-19 20:16:58

Varian

Only in your dreams.

Wait and see

GE on for Dec 12th ?
Ten Conservative rebels back in the fold again.

The Guardian tends to leftish views because unlike the Daily Mail, it's not populist.

A populist is someone who influences others by means of slogans and simplistic views which lack substance. And that is what the owner of the Daily Mail does.

If you read the Guardian you will find deep analyses of news and current affairs.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 29-Oct-19 22:29:25

I'm beginning to think you would cheer if a Tory dog was sick Lemongrove. They lost 11 Tories in the process.

Chestnut Tue 29-Oct-19 22:59:46

That GE may not solve anything.

newnanny Tue 29-Oct-19 23:04:15

Yay at last a GE. Time to drain the swamp. grin The ones who are going are no loss onservatives at all Grieve, Hammond, Letwin, Gauke, Stewart and Clark. I am hoping I will get Brexit for Xmas. What better day to come out than New Years Eve! Go Boris.

Eloethan Tue 29-Oct-19 23:20:24

"Drain the swamp" - Trump's election slogan I believe.

Labaik Tue 29-Oct-19 23:27:58

Clark? You mean one of the most respected Conservative MP's of all time; one that even Labour supporters vote for in his constituency? No loss to the Conservative Party?? Oh well, they've got the charismatic Mark Francois now, I suppose confused….

newnanny Tue 29-Oct-19 23:42:29

Exactly Clarke is so red Labour voters vote for him. Conservative in name only.

newnanny Tue 29-Oct-19 23:43:22

Yup, ditch the dross.

newnanny Tue 29-Oct-19 23:44:33

There will be a lot of Labour MP's who did not represent their constituencies as they are supposed to do. They may be worried tonight.

Labaik Wed 30-Oct-19 06:55:34

Clarke is Tory through and through but sadly represents the good side of Conservatism. As for MP's they are in parliament to do what is best for the country, not destroy it purely because a handful of Tories have hated the EU for a long time and Cameron was scared of losing votes to UKIP....

ladymuck Wed 30-Oct-19 07:01:53

newnanny...you're right. I hope a lot of the present so-called MPs get booted off their little perches. They seem to think that being voted into office gives them carte blanche to do as they please. They seem to forget that they are our representatives, and supposed to reflect the views of their constituents. If they feel unable to, they should give up their seats.

growstuff Wed 30-Oct-19 08:17:06

Please could we borrow you for my constituency ladymuck. I live in a rock solid Tory constituency with an MP who is totally useless. She doesn't live in the constituency and rarely responds to any contact from constituents, although she did vote to leave the EU (which would please you). A group of people is trying to think how an "anybody but X" vote could be mobilised, so we could really do with your help.

PS. Just to put you in the picture .. the Brexit Party will almost certainly take a few thousand votes, thus aiding the anti-Tory effort, but doesn't stand a chance of winning.

Any ideas how we could knock her off her perch?

GracesGranMK3 Wed 30-Oct-19 08:57:12

Interesting that you think that a majority vote, which put those 'actual' MPs into power, should be overthrown because you - one voter - don't like it. Whatever happened to democracy - oh no! Only Brexiteers are allowed to say that aren't they.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 30-Oct-19 08:57:45

Sorry, that was For LadyMuck.

Pantglas2 Wed 30-Oct-19 09:00:33

Oops I thought it was for Growstuff it seemed to fit so well!

lemongrove Wed 30-Oct-19 09:09:49

Those ‘actual’ MP’s may have been put there by the voters but the Party can boot out any who they think are guilty of acting against the interests of the Party.....that is their right, to withdraw the whip, so it isn’t anti- democratic (or anything to do with posters on this thread.)
