I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

Sjc I do post facts. They are just from different experts than you. Doesn’t make them less valid.
?
Yours,
Pollyanna

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 21:50:43

Oh really Urm? I must have missed the facts which show Boris is being hailed as a British hero in Scotland and N Ireland - can you repost it or point me to it please?

MaizieD Sun 20-Oct-19 21:58:39

Ug says I do post facts

With the greatest respect, you don't. You posted a whole load of untrue stuff about the EU on another thread.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 22:01:35

I think you are purposely having a dig. I do post facts. The experts you quote may disagree with the ones I read. But there you go. There are two sides to this Brexit coin. This thread has Boris’ face on it (and it’s not 2-faced before you jump in!)

Gonegirl Sun 20-Oct-19 22:02:15

MawB It aint on the other thread. Other thread's not there anymore. grin

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:05:23

Can you repost or link to the facts I’ve requested Urm or not?

Or was it perhaps simply your opinion that amongst the minority Leavers in Scotland and N Ireland there may be some who think Boris is a hero, but of course that doesn’t mean he’s actually being hailed as a hero right across Britain (or the UK if you’re factoring in NI)?

Just so I’m clear on whether we’re talking facts or opinions here smile

MawB Sun 20-Oct-19 22:07:01

Well I hated the thought of formalised “cliques” on GN anyway and am thoroughly sick of the increasingly binary atmosphere on GN.
Cavaliers and Roundheads, cowboys and Indians, mods and rockers, Liverpool and Everton - I have never liked this obsession some people have with aligning themselves and applying it to everything.
Like Groucho Marx I do not want to belong to any club whose standards are low enough to have me as a member.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:10:27

It’s identity politics Maw and unfortunately it’s becoming the norm in a world where facts and opinions have appear to equal status.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:10:43

Appear to have

sf101 Sun 20-Oct-19 22:11:55

I'm with you aprilrose 100%. They say we should be in it to make changes from the inside but didn't Cameron try that and totally failed hence the referendum in the first place.
I can remember when we joined the common market - a very good idea for trading - what we have now is a bureaucratic nightmare and a fat gravy train for far too many people.
Keep going Boris the silent majority are with you.

BlueSapphire Sun 20-Oct-19 22:13:08

Well, outing myself aprilrose, but I'm with you.. Always have been anti, voted against it in the 70s, and my views have not changed.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:21:00

Keep going Boris the silent majority are with you

Not if all the recent opinions polls are anything to go by

suziewoozie Sun 20-Oct-19 22:21:23

Why on earth would this be deleted?

NanKate Sun 20-Oct-19 22:22:24

Lemongrove did you mention sparkling chilling in the fridge and who mentioned fireworks? It sounds to me like we have the start of a party, count me in. Maybe BJ will join us. Do you think JRM might join in too? I wonder if he possesses casual clothes for a knees up.

I am trying to lighten up the atmosphere as what started as a lighthearted thread for fellow Leavers has broken down into a slanging match.

And yes that chap who shouts down the evening news presenters needs an apple stuck in his mouth to shut him up. I bet he has a sore throat. ?

No more to say really. (Hope link works)

Definition of "hero"-^a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities^
Does ANYONE really think Boris is any of those? Even if you ignore the fact tht he secured a worse deal that any of TMs. That he repeatedly promised there would be no border between N Ireland and England and there will be. That he has yet to win a vote in Parliament . And that he left behind a trail of incompetence and possible illegality as Mayor of London you still can't name a single heroic action, because there aren't any.

suziewoozie Sun 20-Oct-19 22:27:58

Nothing light hearted about this thread nor the starting of it but it’s been beautifully confirmatory has it not?

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:30:43

Indeed it has.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 22:45:09

Sorry Sjc Or was it perhaps simply your opinion that amongst the minority Leavers in Scotland and N Ireland there may be some who think Boris is a hero, but of course that doesn’t mean he’s actually being hailed as a hero right across Britain (or the UK if you’re factoring in NI)?

It was just my opinion.
Sorry not to reply earlier, I was watching a documentary on knife crime in London.

You are right - ‘there may be some’ only in Scotland & NI but it was only my opinion - based on Boris’ popularity in the polls this week and pundits predicting he’s on course to win the next GE (whenever Corbyn let’s him have one).

So yes, an opinion, not a fact.

But to be honest, I thought that this was the tenet of this more gentle thread. A softer discussion on Brexit. Yet, once again it’s not allowed. Here I am spending my evening trying to provide details for Remainers. It’s wearisome to be honest.

No wonder so many Brexiteers don’t bother posting!

MawB Sun 20-Oct-19 22:48:42

Indeed Suziewoozie hmm

suziewoozie Sun 20-Oct-19 22:50:05

‘A softer discussion on Brexit’ ???????

Joelsnan Sun 20-Oct-19 22:52:00

suziewoozie
Nothing light hearted about this thread nor the starting of it but it’s been beautifully confirmatory has it not?

Goodness me, it certainly has. Once again a decent thread ruined by remain posters. It’s like a mycelian web, they spread and take over every political thread. Go through some of the threads and it is the same names line after line congratulating and confirming each other.
No decent debate is allowed, put a contrary position and the personal jibes and put downs flourish, What a shame.

suziewoozie Sun 20-Oct-19 22:57:55

Joel I don’t usually post on the threads related to Brexit. The reason I did today I’ve explained clearly and you’ve missed the point - this thread was goady and childish in the way it was set up. It deserved every single negative post it received and then some. As I said earlier, I’ll post on any thread I wish to and no poster has any right to decide who a thread is for.

BlueBelle Sun 20-Oct-19 23:02:05

No body can say what was wrong with us being in the EU as there was nothing wrong grandad never heard any body complain before that dreaded man called a blooming unnecessary referendum and broke our country into pieces
aprilrose there is no positivity in the state this country has been forced into there is no positivity to what you and yours are trying to do to my children and grandchildren’s lives

Uk is done now and will take decades to right so thank you for taking away peace and prosperity from us and leaving us with a cracked and shattered country and for what, to be ‘great again’ oh what a bloody laugh, about as funny as a mass funeral

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 23:06:19

It WAS meant to be a softer discussion on Brexit susiewoozie as it was amongst like minded voters. You are just being mean, laughing at us (and yes, already I can hear the chorus in the background ‘oh but it’s so easy to do’).

It was trying to celebrate how some of us would feel after (perhaps) a Boris deal finally gets voted through. We started to talk about opening some fizz, sparklers, sitting in a garden at 11pm on 31 October etc but again, the hyenas hijacked the thread, demanding ‘evidence’ and out of politeness I do try to respond. But once you do that, another poster jumps on you and before you know it, it’s not sweet and celebratory it’s another bear pit of gloom and despondency.

It was a polite request from aprilrose to allow a small space for like minded voters to open up - maybe about hopes and aspirations going forward - if it was allowed time to grow and breathe. Or maybe about negative (hopefully short lived) bumps in the road to independence. But the haters gonna hate.
