If you want our NHS to be ended and replaced by a private health scheme then this is where your vote should go.

The NHS is for sale if the Tories win. You won't take it from me? Take it from former Tory Prime Minister John Major.

"The NHS would be as safe as a pet hamster in the presence of a hungry python if Boris Johnson, Michael Gove & Iain Duncan-Smith rose to power following Brexit."

Climate change is appearing at the top of concerns that we all want dealt with so the Bullying Brexiteers have decided to put a temporary ban on fracking. That's sure to make us all want to vote Tory!

Hardly a balanced post after looking at your labour post

Whitewavemark2 Sat 02-Nov-19 20:27:16

Hello tooting on here for the election?

Happy to discuss politics in a measured and considered way. Your politics are obvious from your post and I am tired of sweeping statements from all sides based on whipped up feelings. Take NHS and my experience. In the last 6 years I have seen massive improvements in my local hospital. I get to see a GP quickly and both my husband and I have benefitted from fast referrals and swift diagnosis and treatment. Appointments are well managed and in time. So something is being done and improving. I want that level of service maintained. 21 years ago I was seriously Ill and grateful to the NHS for my recovery. Staff then were overworked toilets were never cleared of samples and management seemed chaotic. Fast forward to early 2000 same hospital and my husband was Ill. Great GP picked up on something quickly and he was admitted. Dirty wards same problem overworked staff. Note the dates. To think NHS is safe in labour hands does not match my experience. And who are these privileged people where is the bar set? Am I privileged because I had a good state education at a time when teaching assistants didn't exist and there were 43 pupils in my class at primary school. My background is working class. I had hard times too, not knowing where next penny was coming from. I worked, studied with OU ,(the best thing Labour ever introduced) forged a reasonable career, own my home and have a reasonably comfortable life. This through my own effort so what side of the bar do I sit. Who is speaking for the majority of hard working honest people?

tooting How long do you intend to stay? Until December 13th?

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 21:12:22

I was thinking that of you WWM2 as your posts are at activist levels.
Welcome Tooting29 keep your comments coming.?

Tooting29 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:13:19

No I dip in and out of forums when the mood takes me. I'm not sure what point you are making

Whitewavemark2 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:15:57

lemon year after year, election after election you welcome these activists with open arms saying how wonderful and right they are. You never ever question your judgement when they disappear once the election/referendum is over.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:16:42

Don’t you tooting well that surprises me.

Tooting29 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:24:30

I genuinely don't. There's nothing much on TV I'm at home enjoying a cup of tea in my PJs and just engaging in a political discussion. I'm not an activist and not a conservative voter either. Just trying to make sense of it all and inject some personal perspective.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:31:57

Speaking from my own experience I was referred by my GP for a gastroscopy mid October 2019.
From referral to procedure was 2 weeks 3 days.
The NHS good stories are not newsworthy, bad/sad stories sell papers!!

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 21:35:17

Nonsense WWM2 I haven’t welcomed ‘these activists’ (whoever they are) for ‘years and years’ and ‘election after election’, and if I were Tooting I would report your posts.

I do remember a LP ( possible bot) at the last election, but I would hardly have welcomed him/her/it.

Hetty58 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:38:41

Sorry, wrong post, apologies, please ignore!

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 21:39:17

Watch out Hetty ! Corbyn will be after your ‘land homes and businesses’ before you can say ‘John McDonald’ ?

Hetty58 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:41:47

Rubbish, lemongrove! I've always felt secure with a labour (but not 'new' labour) government.

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 21:44:58

Ah! But you have never tried a Corbyn government!

Hetty58 Sat 02-Nov-19 21:48:35

I'm encouraged by the fact that Donald Trump dislikes him!

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 21:58:54

Does he? ? that’s awful......That means Corbyn will win a landslide victory ?

MaizieD Sat 02-Nov-19 22:00:40

Ah! But you have never tried a Corbyn government!

Nether, lemon, have you, nor anyone else in the UK.

lemongrove Sat 02-Nov-19 22:03:31

No, and a lot of us don’t want to risk it thanks.

Tooting29 Sat 02-Nov-19 22:15:03

Granny I agree bad stories make news and political ammunition. My husband 2 years ago went to GP with a balance problem - within a week he was referred to local centre for elderly patients and had all tests done within a month all appointments were on time. More recently sight problems were picked up by optician and 2 weeks later diagnosis and treatment. I can email my GP through Ask my Doctor and I get a phone call the same day to discuss my health problem. All these are massive efficient improvements. All happened since I moved here 6 years ago.

Tooting29 Sat 02-Nov-19 22:18:11

Secure with Labour? I'm afraid my politics have been coloured by mid 1970s but I can be convinced. After all Jeremy and I have allotments in common.
