Disgraceful non-attendance by Corbyn. No excuses - there are none.

crystaltipps Sun 10-Nov-19 17:12:57

Fancy criticising someone for not attending a concert. Ridiculous. JC is in no way “my leader” but I’m feeling more sorry for him now with all these people slavishly lapping up the Daily Heil and Daily Excess with their mudslinging and fake news.

MamaCaz Sun 10-Nov-19 17:13:41

I don't know the facts, merlotgran. For all I know, he might have been called upon at very short notice to do this, or could be working day and night in a show at the moment, or some other reason that made the task of memorizing the words difficult.

merlotgran Sun 10-Nov-19 17:17:44

My post was meant to be a joke, MamaCaz.

Never mind.

MamaCaz Sun 10-Nov-19 17:22:09

Sorry merlot. I did see your emoji, but people sometimes use that when they are about to bite grin.
(Now you will be wondering if that's what I've just done - I haven't, I promise.)

merlotgran Sun 10-Nov-19 17:35:16

It's a scary emoji for sure.

Elrel Sun 10-Nov-19 18:16:43

Quietly amused that no one is defending Boris for lying, do we just accept that as ‘something politicians do’?

varian Sun 10-Nov-19 18:18:04

No-one can defend the indefensible

LondonGranny Sun 10-Nov-19 18:23:16

I'm no Corbyn fan but it's a sodding concert, not a wreath-laying. I really think this is fake outrage. Prince Philip didn't lay a wreath at the cenotaph today, but someone laid one on on his behalf. Shall we have a go at him?

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-19 18:27:14

So offensive to call it ‘a sodding concert’

suziewoozie Sun 10-Nov-19 18:30:31

What’s truly offensive is starting a thread which uses the Festival of Remembrance for party political purposes

grapefruitpip Sun 10-Nov-19 18:31:55

I'm offended about being offended.

lemongrove Sun 10-Nov-19 18:37:04

......and I’m offended at your fake offendedness gfp
But yes, Gonegirl I agree that a poster saying a ‘sodding concert’ for the Festival Of Remembrance is unpleasant.

lemongrove Sun 10-Nov-19 18:38:36

Today is almost over now though, what new threads will be brought forth for our interest tomorrow??

growstuff Sun 10-Nov-19 18:39:56

crystaltipps I'm not actually sorry for Corbyn because it's his choice to be party leader, but watching the vultures circling isn't a pleasant experience.

Have you been called "an adorer of Corbyn" yet? grin

growstuff Sun 10-Nov-19 18:42:30

lemongrove Well, they could go back to bitching about the Royal Family. Ed Miliband has been criticised for not doing more to fight anti-Semitism. Or maybe Colleen Rooney has had Botox! Who knows?

Pantglas2 Sun 10-Nov-19 18:44:42

Prince Philip retired from public life in 2017 at the age of 96 after a lifetime of serving his country at war and peacetime - I think Corbyn will fall short in that comparison.

lemongrove Sun 10-Nov-19 18:47:24

Those are weighty subjects to tackle, but I was hoping for something amusing to lift our spirits on a wet Monday morning.

grapefruitpip Sun 10-Nov-19 18:48:59

I'm guessing tomorrow we will be regaled with Corbyn is a baddie and so was Diana.

Possibly a side swipe of Boris is silly and Meghan is lazy.

lemongrove Sun 10-Nov-19 18:49:36

Yes Pantglas you could well be right, Corbyn may be spending more time with family and veggies if he loses this GE.

merlotgran Sun 10-Nov-19 18:52:04

My money's on 'Is Meghan pregnant?' grin

Blondiescot Sun 10-Nov-19 18:56:59

Really? On today of all days - hardly the time for political point-scoring. Political leaders' attendance or non-attendance at such events certainly wasn't at the forefront of my mind at our local Remembrance Service today. I was there in gratitude for the fact that my son returned home to us safe and sound from his tours of Afghanistan and Iraq, and thinking of all those families who were not so fortunate...

growstuff Sun 10-Nov-19 18:59:23

What a relief for you and your family Blondiescot. You're right. Some families aren't so fortunate. I was thinking of them.

Jaycee5 Sun 10-Nov-19 19:00:14

He was at the Cenotaph to lay a wreath. He stayed behind to speak to the veterans whilst Johnson went off to a VIP dinner.
Then Corbyn went to his own constituency and spent time with veterans there and read a poem. Unlike Johnson he did not lay his wreath upside down.
The OP is blatant propoganda.

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-19 19:01:54

Nooooo merlot, enough is enough with the dramatics of the election promises , we don’t need an announcement announcing there will not be an announcement ?

grapefruitpip Sun 10-Nov-19 19:02:55

Ah ,merlot, you have trumped my feeble effort. Yes, a strong contender.
