One thing that no one has mentioned is that couples without children are more likely to stay together. Reading various threads on here it is apparent that there are a lot of divorced people. There are also a lot of people who rarely see their children, not because of distance but because they have fallen out with them.

My 36 yeard old son never wanted to have children (he said that from the age of 18). He's got a good job, a nice house (mortgage), lovely car, etc. He lives alone, has a great social life, holidays, romances, and I can't blame him.

It is a good thing that people are now able to chose whether or not to become parents.

Every child should be a wanted child.

We may have been the first generation able to chose. I remember my GP prescribing the pill for me in the 1960s, but only because I had assured him I was engaged to be married.
