So today Johnson refused to look at footage of a 4 year old boy being treated on the floor of a Leeds A&E, even pocketing the phone of the journalist trying to show it to him.

Where is this man’s common decency?
Where is his humanity?
When will he realise the buck stops with him ?

and by the way urmaston,
I have a fourteen year old. It is not so far away in time that they were that young. Even with her being the age she is
it is actually really really difficult to tell sometimes how ill they are, a virus could be something worse and I applaud the mum who took him to hospital .

Would have done the same. Well done the mum in queston and well done for publicising it. That has taken some bravery. Once again well done. Don't you dare criticise the mum in question. We mums come in for enough parent-bashing when half at least of what we have to deal with is Boris Johnson's fault and co. Locally we have no A and E service whatsoever in the evenings. It is an hours taxi ride and fourty quid to get to the emergency hospital.

with kids that young it is part of the course that they have illnesses and accidents. My daughter broke her arm playing football at school...trapped her toe on an excursion with the school and needed plastic surgery. Don't know what we would have done without the local hospital a and e. It is NOT There anymore.

Surely no mother would leave a potentially seriously ill 4 year old lying on the floor?!! You'd have them on your lap comforting them! Well,I certainly would! As for that oxygen mask! on the floor! No health professional would entertain that!

The country is in a mess - yes
NHS - yes needs more money
Education - yes needs more money
People need to learn to live within their means
People need to realise that they can not continually expect other people to fund their lifestyle. In many cases their lifestyle choice.

Out of the lot of them, who is capable of sorting all this out?

Boris Johnson gets my vote.

Urmstongran Mon 09-Dec-19 18:57:37

Calm down pttr Don't you dare criticise the mum in question

Whoah!

Where did I do that?

I did not.

How convenient, Tory visits Hospital, child pictured on the floor, Liebour rent a mob on hand to dish out some violence. Definitely not a set up then.

Ilovecheese Mon 09-Dec-19 19:02:17

No urmstongran the story about the taxis for activists was a lie given to journalists by a "senior Tory source" Robert Peston has deleted his tweet about this and apologised for the misinformation.

Opal Mon 09-Dec-19 19:02:40

love0c absolutely agree

Baggs Mon 09-Dec-19 19:03:26

I think Paul Bloom's argument is that acting by instinct tends not to end well in complex human situations.

What good would empathetic gushing from BJ have done in this situation as far as his detractors are concerned? Not a jot.

Ilovecheese Mon 09-Dec-19 19:04:18

There was no violence, that was another piece of misinformation for which Robert Peston and Laura K have retracted when shown a video of the incident.

Urmstongran Mon 09-Dec-19 19:13:11

Anyone else suspicious of that picture? No way on earth would any nurse or doctor allow a child to be dumped on the floor like a bundle of clothes, with a drip attached. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this was another of the left's dirty tricks.

Labaik Mon 09-Dec-19 19:18:09

'Out of the lot of them, who is capable of sorting all this out?

Boris Johnson gets my vote'....his party have been in power for 10 years and you think he's the one to sort the mess out?? Is that logical?

GagaJo Mon 09-Dec-19 19:18:51

Cherrytree59, quite simply, I am proud of Jerry Corbyn as a politician because he is honest. There has never been any evidence of him lying.

So whether he becomes PM or not is irrelevant to me. I'm amazed to have seen TWO honest politicians in my lifetime. 1) Barack Obama and 2) Jeremy Corbyn.

I'm doubly proud that one of them was black (my family has some African American members) and that one of them is British.

Labaik Mon 09-Dec-19 19:23:18

BJ is a journalist himself so should be able to deal with journalism. The problem with this country [and I'm repeating what a Conservative party member told me a while back] is that it's now run by journalists. We need MP's that either have life experience or a grounding in the law, not journalists like Johnson and Gove....

Labaik Mon 09-Dec-19 19:25:55

GagaJo. I've never been a fan of Corbyn but I think he's a decent, honest human being. As for Obama; what I'd give to have him as PM of this country.

paintingthetownred Mon 09-Dec-19 19:29:16

Urmaston and co.
'Surely no mother etc'...
Shame on you.
How dare you mother-bash on this one.

How dare you.
Disgusting that you don't realise what the tories have created and what mothers like me have to deal with.

Currently in our area. A one hour travel to the nearest A and E department. If ANY child had an accident it could potentially be the difference between life or death.

Area you a grandmother? Disgusting that you are coming out with comments like this.

Pity your grandchildren, and their parents

GagaJo Mon 09-Dec-19 19:30:37

Labaik, definitely yes! I can't believe that I saw the first black American president. I didn't believe it would happen in my lifetime. And then! What a man. We can only wish.

paintingthetownred Mon 09-Dec-19 19:33:00

Labaik. Johnson is not a card carrying member of the journalists profession, he is a PRIME MINISTER.

Therefore he should be aware that journalists have a job to do.

This country is not RUN BY JOURNALISTS. They have an important function to fulfil in democracy. Study and learn about the British Constitution. No, they don't always get it right. yes they should be held to account.

But they are not the BLXXDY government. We are talking about the Prime minister for heavens sake. Wake up

Hetty58 Mon 09-Dec-19 19:33:10

Agree about Corbyn, Labaik, not so sure about Obama, though. Compared to the twin clowns, Trump and Johnson, they do look marvellous!

GagaJo Mon 09-Dec-19 19:33:37

Urmstongran, I can ASSURE you, A&E is HELL these days. My grandson was there a week ago (drunk something poisonous - he's fine thank god). BUT not only were there no beds, there were no chairs for anyone to sit on, it was so full. Parents of children with breathing problems, broken limbs, standing in hallways.

Don't believe it happens? Easily solved. Get yourself down to your local hospital and look.

Urmstongran Mon 09-Dec-19 19:35:30

painting what ARE you on about? You are furious with me over something I HAVEN'T SAID!
?

Moving on - Remember Kinnock's "Jennifer's Ear " story back in the 90's? A Labour /NHS hyped up story during an election for political gain.

This boy on the floor story has all the makings of another one. So low, so cheap, so obvious.

Jaycee5 Mon 09-Dec-19 19:35:53

Urmstongran The Metro is owned by the same people as the Daily Mail

Labaik Mon 09-Dec-19 19:38:18

paintingthetownred; as I pointed out, it was a member of the Conservative party who said that about Johnson, Gove et all. Johnson was a journalist for a long time; one that made up lies about the EU. Trouble is, he now can't stop lying. And, if he knew more about the law he wouldn't have tried to prorogue parliament.

jura2 Mon 09-Dec-19 19:39:12

Oh yes if only.

And some people say we should not fall out or put distance with family, because of mere politics. But politics is about humanity and values- politics is about schools, and healthcare, and social care for those who are unlucky enough to fall on bad times, and public transport and the environment, and so much more. 'Politics' don't hang there in a vacuum- it is what shapes our lives.

So when some of my relative reacted with sheer racism towards Obama, saying they could not bear to have a black President with a Kenyan mother, and a Muslim and AlQuaida plant, who should not be allowed a passport, let alone be President- and that is wife is a black bitch - I should have said 'ah well, let's agree to disagree- it is only politics' ...

Nonsense. Should Germans and Austrians have agreed to the rise of Hitler, because it was mere politics. Or Italians with Mussolini, or Spanish with Franco, or South African with Apartheid. NO they should not. If people can't see parrallels with what is happening now, and close their ears and eyes and say 'oh it's only politics- it does not matter' - well, they will reap what they sow- and so will their children and grandchildren.

Simples.

inkcog Mon 09-Dec-19 19:40:50

a tiny anecdote.....a friend of mine broke her arm 4 weeks ago and nobody will help her. She has been ringing round hospitals trying to get it plastered. True.

paintingthetownred Mon 09-Dec-19 19:42:56

Urmaston. I assure you. I know exactly what you said. You wrote it. I read it and responded.

Disgusting of you. Disgraceful

I'm not arguing about it. It is there, black on white on the thread.

paintingthetownred Mon 09-Dec-19 19:43:40

I'm sure that is true ick cog.
