So today Johnson refused to look at footage of a 4 year old boy being treated on the floor of a Leeds A&E, even pocketing the phone of the journalist trying to show it to him.

Where is this man’s common decency?
Where is his humanity?
When will he realise the buck stops with him ?

Yes Labaik. So why are you still voting for him as you say he is a lying Sxxtbag

Boris Johnson because I think he will use discipline. A strategy that has been badly lacking for a long time!

pinkquartz Mon 09-Dec-19 19:47:11

"People need to realise that they can not continually expect other people to fund their lifestyle. In many cases their lifestyle choice."

In a discussion about the NHS !

Many of us want to pay more tax for the NHS........but then the Govt found money to bribe the DUP and whatever else they want.
This is not about luxury this is about basic decent healthcare that we pay for.

also love0c

the Tories have been in power for a while now, and Johnson lacks self discipline so don't think he will using it.

inkcog That's awful. We had a few drop in centre locally but one by one they are becoming appointment only. My surgery is only open on occasional days as it is a branch surgery. I know it sounds like a daft question, but can't her doctor refer her. A broken arm sounds like an emergency.

Urmstongran Mon 09-Dec-19 19:49:38

What does your friend’s GP say about a broken arm that needs a cast but no one will listen to her or attend to it 4 weeks on?

Bizarre situation, if you don’t mind me saying so.

painting I’ve re-read ALL my posts.

I cannot find where I have been ‘disgusting’.

I’ve just checked the calendar too in case it was ‘get at Urmstongran day’ and I’d missed it.

Baggs Mon 09-Dec-19 20:01:26

Yes. Bizarre. Has she been to A&E? Was it x-rayed?

The statement "No-one will listen to her" is really odd.

inkcog Mon 09-Dec-19 20:06:13

OK, I am passing on what somebody I trust told me. Sorry, I have no further information.

Baggs Mon 09-Dec-19 20:07:43

TBH, not that I've asked any Tories, their past two leaders haven't been much to be proud of. Cameron and May were never journalists, were they?

Urmstongran Mon 09-Dec-19 20:41:47

My cousin uses Facebook oppress Twitter (I don’t).
She just sent me this:

On social media in the last hour or so is a comment from a Senior Nursing Officer at Leeds Hospital.

'The child was on a trolley in a treatment room awaiting treatment, the child was taken off the trolley and placed on the floor by the mother, the mother then took photos, the mother then put the child back on the trolley'.

Presumably the photos were then sent to people who could make the most use of them politically.

lemongrove Mon 09-Dec-19 21:01:53

I must say it’s stretching credulity to believe that nursing staff
At the hospital placed a sick child on the floor for hours to sleep.
True, beds are often not available at short notice but trolleys are, also two chairs can be put together with blankets on.
Leeds hospital need to come out with a true statement on this.
Am with Baggs on the matter of Johnson not responding immediately to having a phone thrust at him.
All this ‘ he isn’t a normal human being, no empathy’ bullshit
Is just political game playing.
There have been crowded A&E depts for as long as I can remember, certainly it has got worse, but an increased population, drunks, and many going to hospital when they could see a GP the next day have caused all that ( DIL is a nurse and sees and hears it all!)

Nandalot Mon 09-Dec-19 21:43:05

Urmstongran, Leeds live published an apology from Leeds hospital.
Dr Yvette Oade, Chief Medical Officer at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: “Our hospitals are extremely busy at the moment and we are very sorry that Jack’s family had a long wait in our Emergency Department.

"Our Chief Executive Julian Hartley has spoken to Jack’s mum and offered a personal apology.”

She continues by stating how busy they were and apologises later in the statement that he had to wait in the treatment room.

“We are extremely sorry that there were only chairs available in the treatment room, and no bed. “

He was later put on a trolley.

jura2 Mon 09-Dec-19 21:56:41

Thank you Nandalot. Shame on you who accused the mum of lying and making a political point with her sick child sad

lemongrove Mon 09-Dec-19 22:00:58

Thanks Nandalot that makes it all clear, the Mother’s experience and what Leeds hospital say.
They were fantastically busy, but despite that, the little boy was asessed and they were in the treatment room without a bed for a few hours. There were chairs in the room.
It had nothing to do with lack of funding.

MawB Mon 09-Dec-19 22:01:08

Thank you Nandalot - not a “fake news” staged ambush of Johnson then, but showing the man up in his true colours.

jura2 Mon 09-Dec-19 22:05:21

oh lemon, please- how can it have nothing to do with a lack of funding. Please - listen to yourself sad Why do you think they were so busy, why do you think they didn't have sufficient beds or staff. Please- stop excusing the inexcusable, for goodness sake.

jura2 Mon 09-Dec-19 22:06:56

so, who is going to come on and say it is because we have too many EU immigrants?

GagaJo Mon 09-Dec-19 22:09:14

Won't be long Jura2.

Or people who don't need to be in A&E but should go to their GP (despite a 3 week wait for an appointment).

jura2 Mon 09-Dec-19 22:12:24

I wonder how many immigrants were on duty- nurses, carers, cleaners, doctors, surgeons, Consultants, x-ray, phlebotomists, etc - EU and non EU?

Gonegirl Mon 09-Dec-19 22:14:11

The child needed to lay flat, probably to open his lungs up. Oxygen mask would be fine on the floor.

There is a new children's hospital in the pipeline for after Christmas. Sounds like they need to speed it up.

Gonegirl Mon 09-Dec-19 22:15:25

The mum had come from the doctor's surgery with the boy. The doctor suspected bronchitis.

Gonegirl Mon 09-Dec-19 22:17:21

Was pretty daft to put the phone in his pocket. He handled it very badly.

lemongrove Mon 09-Dec-19 22:17:32

Perhaps I know a bit more about hospitals than you jura.
To increase the beds they need to expand the hospital, which it sounds as if they are going to be doing in the near future.
You don’t purchase beds and then dot them about the place just anywhere.Trolleys answer the bed shortage when a patient is waiting to get onto a ward.
The little boy was admitted to a ward initially for a while, then a more acute case arrived and he had to vacate the bed ,
This happens all the time btw. He then had to use a treatment room, where there were chairs only, and later onto a trolley, and eventually back to a ward.
Flu was diagnosed and he was allowed home the next lunchtime. If he had been a really serious case he would have stayed in the bed on the ward.
The hospital admitted it wasn’t ideal, but the little boy did receive care. The NHS has had record amounts of money allocated year on year and yet still becomes a political football near election time.

trisher Mon 09-Dec-19 22:19:07

lemondid you read the article they were in the treatment room for four and a half hours, then he was taken to child assessment and spent 5 hours on a trolley. It was 3 am when he was finally given a bed. No one, let alone a 4 year old boy, should have to wait so long.

Yehbutnobut Mon 09-Dec-19 22:22:19

At last the public is seeing what this man is actually like. It was clear he had no answer, couldn’t think on his feet and reacted in this bizarre manner.

Those who continue to defend him and excuse his behaviour are blind. Of course other parties will make capital from this. How could they do otherwise when this just illustrates how the NHS is falling apart.
