I was shocked and horrified at the exit poll revealed at 10pm. Thought they must be wrong after it is only a prediction. Unfortunately as the night unfolded the predictions became reality. How can they be so right. Not sure how that works.

I should have realised that the writing was on the wall before the election.
An interview with the owner of Weatherspoons (staunch Brexteer) revealed that he had given the Tories £50,000.00 last week, 'why so near the election', he was asked.
Answer ' 'because the Tories will not take 10% of my business in taxes and he will be able to employ people from outside the EU at a more reasonable rate.
As a reward for his loyalty Weatherspoon owner is now entitled to eat with BJ at the top table, something he is looking forward too very much. Will any of you who gave BJ your precious vote be able to join him for dinner?

How many more promises did BJ make to the billionaires from around the world, we may never know but the truth will show itself in the long run, just hope its not too late for the rest of us.

Sadly no. It’s like being American and waking to find your fellows have elected trump. No election should ever be run on a single issue. Too much else matters. Now we have more years of cuts, hardship and misery for so many, run by such a man as Johnson. Still, no more than I expected. No surprise.

Not at all surprised that they won - even with a scumbag such as Johnson as PM. Corbyn was a liability and his supporters were so blinded by idiology that they couldn't see where it was all headed. I guess now the NHS will continue to be carved up and services sold to the highest bidder, and the whole "safety net" of those in dire need will shrink until it's barely there. Currently there are 2,000 food banks in the UK, in the 5th richest economy in the world (from 20 when the Tories took office); I fear that the number will escalate even further. Many of us will be okay, regardless, but it's the poor and sick that I feel most sorry for. But never mind, at least the billionaires who wanted us out of the EU will be happy.

AWFUL disaster for the UK ...end to GREAT Britain ...cannot stand alone...…..what a shambles I am so pleased I am at the end of my life and not the beginning. I would up sticks and go back to live in Europe but now that hope is dashed ...thanks, Brexiteers for ruining everything ..I hope you are happy ...who will you blame when it all goes pear shaped ???

I am appalled, saddened, and angry.
That the people of my wonderful country, trudged like lemmings to the polls chanting like zombies "Get Brexit Done " as if that was the only issue in debate .
And voted in a pack of lying ,entitled myoginistic , homophobic half wits who haven't got this countrys best interests at heart..
But hey, what do I know. I'm only the ordinary little woman on the street with grandchildren who may need a country they can be proud of and contribute to.

I'm not especially pleased that the Tories got in, like others, I fear that Johnson and Trump will make happy bedfellows.

We must hope that our all fears are unfounded, that Brexiteers are proved right, and that Boris can summon up some common sense and fairness in government in the years to come.

Otherwise we're all sunk...

I’m pleased with the result and glad it isn’t a hung Parliament again because that would probably take ages to sort out particularly with Jo Swinson losing her seat. I do think that people just didn’t like Corbyn, even some of his ex MP’s are blaming him for them losing their seats because they had to tow the party line in regards to Brexit. We now need stability and concentrate on other issues.

Not surprised, but very depressed - for the country, the union, the planet, and the poor and disadvantaged. Our family will be OK - we're comfortably off, and our kids have already emigrated. It's the people who were duped who will suffer the most. Shall we revisit this in a couple of years, and see how happy everybody is then?

So relieved. I didn't think for a minute it would be much different but the majority is amazing. Now we can get on & build our country again & here we have got rid of Sam Gyimah as he could not come back to Tories again after his defection & we have a new MP!

I don't like the implication from Annie that those who don't agree with her didn't give their vote sufficient thought.

And ignoring the referendum was democracy?

Some might like to consider the low turnout in seats tories have taken. labour have hung on in NW where turnout was high. Also note vote in NI and Scotland - Johnson can hardly claim to be leading a united country.
Be interesting to see which of his 'promises' actually come to fruition. Expecting more creative, confusing sums and plenty of half truths

Hate won. And the vote in Scotland and NI tells a very different story to that in England.

Very pleased with the result, I think they will put money into the NHS and other important project. I don’t want to live in a communist country paying homage to the Russians and China.

I am relieved Boris won as I feared JC was a risk to national security.

I'm just glad Corbyn won't get within spitting distance of No.10. Not a huge fan of Boris though but we'll see if he settles down and gets to work.

@Gaunt47, one of the losing seats this morning has gone to the press calling for an end to " first past the post " policy ! Would he include horse racing and competitive sports results or just the electoral vote.

I notice there are still the conspiracy theorists out again. ‘This isn’t democracy’ dodgy goings on at polling stations, students being turned away blah blah. One poster despairing at the lack of morals and common decency of the British people. Get over yourselves. The people have spoken - again. We’re leaving the EU and Corbynism is no more. I’m just pleased that we now have a government that can actually govern with the majority they have. I hope they do a good job.

I was undecided until I saw a clip from Ben Elton on my fb page as I have always voted labour and I just wasn’t sure because of corbynn but as he said I wasn’t voting for mr C I was voting for the Labourparty. So I voted for the party and my local mp who dies so much for our community.
What saddens me that my beautiful gd has been told so many times by brexiteers so go back to her own country when actually she was born here. So we will see.....

2019 European Election - the country voted to leave when the Brexit Party turned the country Brexit blue.
2019 General Election - the country voted to leave with a massive Conservative majority.

How many more times does the country need to say we want to leave the EU

I'm horrified as to what will happen to the poor and vulnerable too, as others have said. In a couple of years time when charges to use the NHS are introduced amongst other thing people will realise what they have voted for.

This is the howl of anguish from our own rust belt, they have been betrayed too many times when contracts went abroad both Labour and Tory have let them and us down. Corbyn and his cadre were and are too Londoncentric, why would I vote for a vegetarian/pacifist elite or years of country stagnation of being neither in or out. Get it on train our own nurses, plumbers, electricians, engineers. This is me who usually votes Labour.
