Lol

craftyone Mon 16-Dec-19 17:26:41

Both are sugar and fat filled moreish rubbish. Neither of those but I have bought some hand made craft chocolates, just for me

Quality Street usually but this year we have bought some Heroes for the children and went to Thotntons for chocolates as they mostly gluten free. Usually, there are loads left over so we only bought one box then saw some things were buy 2 get one free so we bought Brazil nuts, ginger fudge and turkish delight. At the till be got a box free for spending so much. There goes not buying too much! Suppose I'd better start on them!

Quality Street for the green triangles.

rafichagran Mon 16-Dec-19 17:38:00

Neither, just dont like them anymore. Love M&S chocolates

Quality Street for me but I’m not buying any, hope someone buys me some lol.

The nutty Roses and toffee Quality Street.
The last one left in the box is always nougat!

Roses for me but they don’t taste the same anymore since they have made them round to suit the American market. I also vowed not to eat cheap chocolate like Cadbury’s and others that used palm oil. Didn’t last long just no willpower.

Spookily enough, I note that Cadbury’s chocolate from Australia and NZ do not contain palm oil ie their coconut rough which is absolutely delicious.

Do not suck the chocolate off the Brazil nuts then offer them on Christmas Day with the cheese, it’s against the law!

I’m another one for green triangles, but honestly, apart from coffee creams, and the strawberry ones, I’ll eat any of them.

I agree with craftyone. I am in the process of choosing some good quality choccies.

Although, if anyone offered......

EllanVannin Mon 16-Dec-19 17:57:40

They smell when you take the lid off---and not nice either ! Yuk.

No nice chocolate unless it's hand-made like Hotel chocolates.

Who remembers the Terry's 1767 chocs in the most beautiful boxes with little drawers ?

jura2 Mon 16-Dec-19 17:58:28

neither - too much sugar and - give me real 70% dark chocolate, please.

ayse Mon 16-Dec-19 18:02:39

I loved Terry’s and their beautiful caskets and boxes. Very good chocolates as well. Chartreuse cream, Benedictine cream just to mention a couple and wonderful shapes as well. Dad used to buy Mum a box every Christmas and I was allowed one, so it took a long time to choose.

OP, if I was buying it would be Quality Street as they are selling bigger tins, made of tin, not plastic

Told DH I prefer Hotel Chocolate dark, of course, in a small box to a great big box of Thornton’s or similar.

Can’t beat a good dark chocolate

GrannyGravy13 Mon 16-Dec-19 18:06:38

Hotel Chocolate chocolates here for me, but I had a panic on Friday and bought a small pack of both Roses and Quality Street tchblush

Harris27 Mon 16-Dec-19 18:09:11

Quality street is my favourite but I do like roses as well.

notanan2 Mon 16-Dec-19 18:10:33

Yuck neither!
Aldi and lidl do nice fancy chocs
I also like Thorntons and choc brazil nuts and any turkish delights.
IMO hotel chocolate is empirers new clothes: I dont get it just tastes like bog standard chocolate.

Urmstongran Mon 16-Dec-19 18:11:09

Along with copies of the Christmas editions of the TV & Radio times? (not)

I used to like Roses best but Cadbury chocolate has changed in taste (creme eggs anyone - no thanks) and is pretty yuk now.

Did the Americans buy it?

notanan2 Mon 16-Dec-19 18:12:49

They just get regifted until someone gets desperate and opens them grin

IMO every christmas box of quality street has been on average to 3 homes before it gets opened
(In my totally scientific opinion)

notanan2 Mon 16-Dec-19 18:14:13

Panettone is the only edible item that has a longer chain of regifting before consumption than quality street

Dreadful things happened to Cadbury. Now made in Poland and Romania not sure if UK anymore. The Cadbury family would probably turn in their graves. Decline since 2010.

As she heaves another choc into mouth.

Wheniwasyourage Mon 16-Dec-19 18:43:31

Neither - Roses are not the same as they used to be since Cadbury went American, and Quality Street is Nestlé and so I'm boycotting them. If someone gave me a box of Thornton's now, or Celebrations...

ginny Mon 16-Dec-19 18:45:29

Neither, I like decent chocolate.

Daddima Mon 16-Dec-19 18:46:58

notanan I found a panettone in the cupboard ( a gift from last year). It made a lovely bread and butter pudding, which I scoffed all on my own!
