Was taken from Sandringham to Edward 7th hospital ,London for observation in relation to a pre existing condition.

I doubt she'd care! It's Mary Berry we're talking about, not Mary Whitehouse!

SirChenjin Sun 22-Dec-19 16:17:52

Thank you MissA grin

annep1 Sun 22-Dec-19 17:40:02

Yes Jabberwok but how did they acquire their own money.

No Anniebach they aren't responsible but they are profiting from it. Just as eg, slave traders profited.

If I gave you £1000 and you later found out I had acquired it by breaking in and robbing someone would you still feel entitled to keep it?

It's impossible to get through to people. I know we are all entitled to opinions but facts are facts.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 22-Dec-19 17:43:22

There is a 98 year old man in hospital, he is a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, I for one have compassion and empathy for anyone poorly.

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 17:44:28

annepl who are you referring to ? The queens parents ?

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 17:45:39

Bravo GrannyGravy

Jabberwok Sun 22-Dec-19 17:48:31

Bravo indeed GG!

inkcog Sun 22-Dec-19 17:48:35

I don't think anybody has exhibited a lack of compassion?

inkcog Sun 22-Dec-19 17:48:54

Yes Bravo!

annep1 Sun 22-Dec-19 18:01:52

I too am sorry he is ill. As I would be for anyone.

Anniebach you haven't answered. I refuse anyway to explain any further. Sirchenjin has done it very concisely. Easy to understand. I'm off to sing now?

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 18:26:53

I wonder what his thoughts are now he is reaching the end of his life, no roots, no parents from a young age, mother in an
asylum, father deserted his family. He went from one extended family member to another, boarding schools then the navy . No contact with his sisters . I think it’s so sad.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 22-Dec-19 18:29:54

Anniebach he did have a disfunctional family, I may be wrong but wasn't he reconciled with his Mother in her later years.

inkcog Sun 22-Dec-19 18:49:19

I believe it is possible to leave a dysfunctional family and reflect, admit problems, have the guts to find a therapist and move on. Not for the faint hearted.

MawB Sun 22-Dec-19 19:03:32

I am afraid I have never read such a load of irrelevant anti-Royalist tosh as on this thread.
Where would you begin to debunk the urban myths? Tge Gordonstoun one might be a start.
I wouldn’t actually bother but agree with GG - here is a 98 year old man who has supported our Queen throughout her time as Queen which effectively deprived him of his career, had to give up his surname so that his children bore her name and now a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather with prostate cancer is virtually unable to escape the public eye or prurient observations of people who know little but say much.
Cut the man some slack, please!

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 19:07:52

Yes GrannyGravy his mother was at his wedding , she ended her days in Buck House, was buried in St George’s Chapel but later her body was exhumed and she is buried in
Jerusalem. She was honoured as ‘Righteous Among Nations’

A remarkable life.

SirChenjin Sun 22-Dec-19 19:14:05

Not an urban myth Maw but as I said, I have no issue if someone chooses not to believe me, it’s of no consequence to me one way or another.

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 19:15:18

Not an urban myth , just gossip

MawB Sun 22-Dec-19 19:20:24

DH went to Gordonstoun, not your typical “English” public school and no buggery.

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 19:22:48

According to SirChen there was, someone told him/her

SirChenjin Sun 22-Dec-19 19:25:06

No, something that was known amongst his school friends Annie. It was the early eighties though, not the fifties or sixties when people were locked up. I’m not sure why it’s causing so much upset, he was known to be gay at school amongst his peers - so what?

SirChenjin Sun 22-Dec-19 19:26:57

I didn’t make any mention of buggery confused It was you who mentioned buggery and abuse Annie

Callistemon Sun 22-Dec-19 19:35:12

An old man is in hospital and, whatever you may think of the royal family, this thread is disgraceful.

Gransnetters should be ashamed.

The worst of Gransnet is evident on this thread.

inkcog Sun 22-Dec-19 19:36:20

Who exactly should be ashamed and for what please?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 22-Dec-19 19:37:04

Not every boarding schoolboy has “a gay episode”, my brother definitely did not!!!

Anniebach Sun 22-Dec-19 19:48:56

Yes GrsnnyGravy and I meant no offence to those who attended boarding school, it’s just so wrong to say a person was gay because someone at school with him said so.

And I am not anti gay just anti gossip
