I’ve just been looking at those pictures, and agree poor Archie looks like a sack of potatoes! I think he could have been asleep though, so would tend to loll in his harness. Holding two dogs on leads also.
But a good photo opportunity of Mommy having a stroll with baby and dogs, awaiting Daddy’s arrival from work on the other side of the world.
Surely a period of low profile is due.

Harry & Megan drop HRH Titles
(478 Posts)I think that they have agreed to drop the HRH titles from April, as there would have been too many conditions to making money while holding the title.
They are also, apparently, going to repay the £2.4m of taxpayers money spent on Frogmore.
So, it looks like neither of them will be back to the UK very often at all.
I think that this is the right decision, do you?
Anyone else think this is not a random paparazzi pic, but one that has been carefully stage-managed by Meghan? Surely, instead of struggling with baby and two dogs, any sane person would have handed the dogs over to one of the security guards?
This is written by theTimes Royal correspondent who, unlike most on here, has actually met H and M on numerous occasions. ”Harry and Meghan escape from poisonous palace”

No one should be called Royal Highness or be curtseyed to. Its a nonsense.
To be fair, Archie is in a harness and she's leading two dogs. I often think babies in harnesses or carriers seem a bit awkward. I don't suppose all the parents with harnesses have nannies for the "hard lifting"!
merlotgran
I agree - she looks like someone who is unfamiliar with holding a baby. Maybe nanny does the hard lifting when the cameras are not in evidence ?

She still hasn't got the hang of holding a baby.
pinkquartz yes, I agree money can help cushion life but having health problems, whether mental or physical and feeling in the depths of despair due to either of those is not dependent on how much money a person has.
It was very insensitive, however, to complain about one's lot in life when people who have so much less and children have few prospects, however unhappy they were feeling themselves.
That's right Sparklefizz . I think H&M really thought they would they would get their own way in all of this. The Queen has been advised well and dealt with this superbly. I do have a lot of sympathy for Prince Charles too,
I do wonder just who has been advising H and M. The whole episode has been a PR disaster. Charles and the Queen appear to have been put on the spot - what a sorry, sorry mess.
Very well articulated comments Maw I totally agree and can’t improve on them so just a ?? from me.
Sparklefizz,
I now realise why Meghan brought the American Advisors in. But I’m certain they don’t have a clue how the royal family operates. I’m not sure they understand British culture either.
Calendargirl,
You are absolutely right, Meghan is getting old by Tinsel Town standards. But will her royal status buy her in?
On the News this evening it was tactfully said that H&M had taken advice from people who did not know how the Royal Family operates.
The more I see and hear -particularly Harry's speech last night- the more I wonder really what did H+M expect?Using a private charity dinner as the place to air his dissatisfaction?I would have thought his speech to them would have been kept truly private and just to reassure Sentabale of his on going commitment to them .But then it was released via their Instagram. But I guess that's that is part of their new way of communicating, and keeping it under their control.
And seeing clips of Harry with those children in Africa made me rather sad for him.I think in his heart that is where he really feels free.I wonder becoming brand Sussex in N.America will really make him happy?
He must be desperate to see Archie. And still think although a lot of people will genuinely wish them well. But still think it's a great shame they went about it this way,and presented the Queen with crisis negotiations at this stage of her life and reign. And it was very presumptuous to set up the SussexRoyal site so far in advance IMO and speaks volumes as to how naive they were - The Queen is a tough old cookie !
A sort of Royal hokey cokey.... in, out, in out.... shake it all about.
I think the Queen has handled it so well. Harry wanted it both ways but that wasn't possible. Now he has let the world know he us not happy with the outcome. What a shame. I have been getting miffed as he constantly bleats on about how hard done by he his, when he is supposed to be talking about the charity he represents. I and many others lose our mothers whilst young, but we have to carry on, without the wealth and priviledge he has. There is a saying, be careful what you wish for, for now he has it, as well as considerable wealth and of course Megan and Archie. I can't help but feel if it were my husband doing such a big thing I would have been at his side. For someone who does not want the limelight, he made sure his speech last night was recorded and released to the Media and is on the News, not a way to go low profile.

Meghan, although glamorous, is pushing 40, no longer the attractive young starlet she was when she landed the Suits role. She might find the celebrity world somewhat changed as she approaches middle age.
I think H&M were quietly confident that their half in, half out new Royal life would be accepted by the Palace and the family. I suspect it’s been a huge shock how it has actually panned out, particularly to Harry. I think he is gutted to have lost his military connections, but is having to take it on the chin.
I agree. Harry's complaining speech last night sounded as if he was blaming the Queen for not agreeing with what he wanted.
Perhaps if they had kept their wishes to themselves, and spoken to the Queen first before confiding in Elton John and sharing their plans with the world, things might have been slightly different.
Personally I think the Queen has been magnificent.
Luckygirl
with respect to you it was that you wrote that they were up against "inhuman odds" that I thought was too much.
They are not up against "inhuman odds" at all.
I did not know you have been a social worker and I am sorry for you own situation but I still cannot see any real hardship in their lives
We all have to do battle. Life is not easy for anyone
but they seem to think they should have it all.
every last piece of cake.
I just think that if they are up against inhuman odds how would anyone describe what some of us are going through and without support or money?
money does soften the blow. And so does having good health
however sarcastic some people can afford to be (not you Lucky girl I don't mean you)
Those two have no idea how fortunate they are yet they were recently in South Africa . Incredible tunnel vision.
Maw,
I think you’ve got it absolutely right. I’m certain Meghan never wanted to spend her life here in Britain. I just hope she’s worth it, and she doesn’t devalue our monarchy too much.
Merlot,
Poor William, apparently normally Harry would have been by his side tonight, but as Harry’s left, William will have to go it alone. So very sad.
My opinion only, but I feel that Meghan never actually intended to stay here permanently. There were suggestions at the time of their wedding that Meghan didn’t want to live in Britain and wanted to split their time between Canada and Britain. A lot of these leaks came from Meghan’s friends apparently, and whilst they were dismissed as press speculation at the time, these things have now come to pass. Meghan is known for using her friends to release the information she wanted to release but couldn’t do herself.
No Anniebach ever since William and Kate produced the heir and the spare, his role has become increasingly redundant.
What did he actually do?
If they (the Palace) had thought it through they would have let him back in the forces- army/Air Force, whatever, in the same way William was allowed to be a rescue helicopter pilot, feeling he was actually doing something useful.
Active service in Afghanistan was clearly a no-no for Harry for reasons of security but there must have been a role for him somewhere.
Harry is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but has the attributes of a good soldier, the structure and tradition helped him to feel secure. He chose a strong woman - not unlike the glam “sleb” Diana became after her divorce and instead of supporting him and helping him to find his niche in the U.K. (could you imagine Meghan on Anglesey, popping our to Waitrose?) she must have convinced him that the celebrity route was his way out.
It will end in tears.
Just wondering whether Meghan will deign to set foot on British soil when Prince Philip passes away - or the Queen?
The former’s funeral could be a bit awkward and I would not necessarily bet my OAP on it.
A good post Maw.
I thought it was announced yesterday that Prince Charles will continue their allowance (two and a half million a year) for one year. I think they’re expected to fund themselves after that. I heard something about a contract with Netflix, I’m not sure how that would work.
I do find the idea of American business, tinsel town etc using the royals in this way, to make profit rather distasteful. Maybe I’m too British in my outlook. But I think (my opinion only) that this is what Meghan wanted and where she’s happiest. I don’t think she was cut out for a life of duty, simply not glamorous enough for her. She is of course, a very beautiful woman with a lovely figure, I can see why Harry married her. I hope it works out for him, but I think we’ll miss him. And I’m absolutely certain that in time, he will miss the loving family he has given up, and he will miss his country.
I think they wanted him gone before William's big night tonight hosting his first solo reception at Buckingham Palace.
