Harry & Megan drop HRH Titles

I think that they have agreed to drop the HRH titles from April, as there would have been too many conditions to making money while holding the title.
They are also, apparently, going to repay the £2.4m of taxpayers money spent on Frogmore.
So, it looks like neither of them will be back to the UK very often at all.
I think that this is the right decision, do you?

She committed the unforgivable act of cutting off her father. You know the one who went to the media before the wedding to try to make himself look better. The one who use the media to get more attention for himself.

Meghan was already ostracising her father.

Harry didn't even make the effort to meet him when they got engaged

You cannot claim that is normal, loving behaviour

Money was certainly no object

I still do not understand why they didn't go and see the guy when they were 'courting'.

Or dating

Hanging out

Whatever you want to call it

ReadyMeals Sun 19-Jan-20 13:13:46

Sarahellenwhitney that's all inaccurate. Diana held the title THE Princess of Wales, or Princess Charles of Wales, automatically as she was married to THE Prince of Wales. When they divorced she no longer held the title, but was allowed to go on using the courtesy STYLE of "Diana, Princess of Wales". She continued to have her very own title Lady Diana which she gained through having been born to an Earl. When (not if) Prince William becomes Prince of Wales, Kate will automatically gain the title Princess William of Wales, and will be referred to as The Princess of Wales. Should she ever divorce William, it will be up to the current monarch to decide if she will be allowed to style herself Catherine, Princess of Wales, but that would be a style not a title.

sooziewoozie has several user names she tells us so she may be commenting on her under one of her other names.

Perhaps she uses on for politics, one for games etc!

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 13:13:55

Sorry, forgot, Kate can be Catherine Princess of Wales,
Camilla is Camilla Princess of Wales but the decision was taken not to use the title because the public would object

sarahellenwhitney Sun 19-Jan-20 13:17:14

Possibly life as the wife of a prince did not live up to expectations .?What did she know other than what she observed in books or well meaning friendshmm told her.
Kate would have been all to familiar with what the press and public can do.Meghan clearly could not handle it and Harry is the one who gets my sympathy not his wife.

Meghan was already ostracising her father.
your point is? That seems to be the basis why most people don’t like her. Because she has cut off her father. It is none of our business why she has done so, but after how he acted and went to the press, I can certainly understand why. Somebody doesn’t change and go to the press like that on a whim. Does personality traits are already ingrained. She knew who her father was, and she made a choice. None of our business.

None of his, or her sisters actions happened in a vacuum. Perhaps all three are toxic. Who knows. But to blame her for his actions is madness.

So, for so many to be so upset about how she plays the press, in their words, it’s baffling why it is OK for him to have done so.

Are you angling for a job on the RF PER

Eloethan Sun 19-Jan-20 13:28:24

Are you angling for a job on the royal family PR team *anniebach"? Your stance seems to have changed a great deal from a few years ago when you were quite critical of the many properties owned by the queen.

As a frequent contributor to the religion forum, how do you think Jesus would view these people who give themselves medals and titles - and vast amounts of wealth - for doing not very much?

sarahellenwhitney Sun 19-Jan-20 13:31:37

Readymeals
Oh dear, can I take it a slap on the wrist and the naughty corner is the order of the daygrin.

Oopsminty Sun 19-Jan-20 13:33:49

If you can't see my point, summerlove, it's pointless discussing it with you

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 13:35:10

Been searching archives again eleothan , you must be so
bored/lonely to find my posts of interest. You do this quite
often, stalking !

ReadyMeals Sun 19-Jan-20 13:35:15

Lol Sarah, no slap on the wrist. All this title stuff is bloomin' complicated grin

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 13:37:51

I don’t think Christ would be concerned about medals, he would be distressed about anti semetism, he suffered it,

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 13:40:33

Sorry ReadyMeals ,

ReadyMeals Sun 19-Jan-20 13:40:57

Actually... wasn't it the other way round? Christ was persecuted BY his fellow Jews.

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 13:42:48

No.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 14:04:53

Do you think that’s it summerlove? She cut off her father who has behaved appallingly? I think you are right about her being judged as an uppity American. I’d have been running for the hills had he been my father as well & I certainly wouldn’t allow anyone that keen to sell a story close to my children .

ladymuck Sun 19-Jan-20 14:17:40

Does Prince Harry really want all this? Leaving the country of his birth, seeing little of his family, living in other people's houses.
I wonder if, when he proposed, Meghan actually made this a condition of accepting?
She is used to being a Hollywood star in her own right, and being part of the glitz and glamour of it (although I personally had never heard of her prior to her relationship with Harry).

Being part of the British royal family is not the same thing at all.

Hm999 Sun 19-Jan-20 14:21:36

I'm really sad, because I had high hopes that they would drag the royals into 21st century. We had the same modernising vibe in 1980s, but that ended in tears.
I can't see the monarchy lasting. I have nothing against William and Kate, but they just seem to be more of the same, very old-fashioned and loathe to try and show that things can change. We are looking at Scotland leaving UK in the next ten or twenty years, and I wouldn't be surprised if the monarchy goes so after.
Honestly, I never thought I would think like this until recently.
On a more positive note, I thought the Queen's announcement was nicely and sincerely written.
Good luck H & M (and little Archie - I wonder where he'll go to school)

Tweedle24 Sun 19-Jan-20 14:23:36

I await correction, of course, but, I think the £2.4M, offered by Prince Harry to repay the cost of the house refurbishment, is a bit of a red herring. My understanding is that those costs came from funds specifically put aside to keep these properties in good repair. The Prince of Wales, I believe, shelled out for fittings and fixtures so, that is a private arrangement between father and son.
All the other things agreed for their future are still to be seen. Let us wait and see what happens next.

Karlaeliz Sun 19-Jan-20 14:25:03

I think it's best. M obviously couldn't hack it.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 14:27:15

I think the monarchy will survive hm99 but slimmed down (& maybe it should be).

ReadyMeals Sun 19-Jan-20 14:37:31

Can we be sure it was actually Meghan who couldn't hack it? Do you think it was actually Harry who was suffering but carrying on pushing himself and Meghan who realised that and made him see he could put his mental health first and step back? Maybe she did do it, but she did it for him?

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 14:48:27

Who knows ReadyMeals? It’s certainly possible - he has hinted at struggling at times hasn’t he? And his childhood must have been emotionally very difficult.

Hope they both find some peace.

Phloembundle Sun 19-Jan-20 14:53:25

Sadly, I don't believe the relationship will survive the move to Canada. I hope I'm wrong for Harry's sake.
