..... they, plus Edward, Sophie and Princess Anne, are doing the country proud this evening.

I think the Cambridge and Wessex families will do a good job for the monarchy now. Princess Anne has always worked hard and just got on with things.

trisher Tue 21-Jan-20 13:38:23

Couldn't care less about any of them. I would issue a warning to William. Historically kings called Charles have suffered or been followed by periods of upheaval. Cromwell and William and Mary. It might be best if he tried to develop some other skills. grin

Pantglas2 Tue 21-Jan-20 13:48:09

Do you mean like flying helicopters for rescue services trisher?

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 14:00:15

Thankfully we have more members of royals with dignity than lacking dignity,

Jabberwok Tue 21-Jan-20 14:06:21

Honestly trisher, bit of an exaggeration! Cromwell, maybe, but William and Mary? As James 11 left quietly (allowed to go!) the glorious revolution was a relatively low key affair Anyway, whose to say Charles won't take a different name on becoming king as did George V1th?
I think William and Kate will flourish now whining Harry and duplicitous Meghan have gone. The RF looked brilliant, out en masse, business as usual! H and M already yesterdays news, and forgotten already!

Yehbutnobut Tue 21-Jan-20 14:23:36

Of course Kate is perfection. She didn’t set her sights on William by applying to the same University. She has produced an heir and two spares. She has no life beyond her husband, children and royal duties and she is white. Perfect princess material.

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 14:28:31

I think with Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, Anne, Sophie and Edward, the royal working family are right for
this country.

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 14:30:48

Kate was sure to grab Williams attention , only 7,500 students

Yehbutnobut Tue 21-Jan-20 14:30:55

And hasn’t public opinion changed re Camilla! Thankfully.

Yehbutnobut Tue 21-Jan-20 14:33:02

???

Jabberwok Tue 21-Jan-20 14:36:58

Oh dear, I guess for some people the Duchess can't do right for doing wrong! Some people are happy for their lives to revolve around their husband and children! Why should that be something to sneer about? Not much she can do about being white, though of course it should have immediately debarred her! smacked wrist indeed for PW for even acknowledging her in the first place!!

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 14:45:23

Kate produced a heir and two spares ? Artificial Insemination ?

trisher Tue 21-Jan-20 15:52:08

Jabberwok I think the Irish would disagree about the low-key affair given the Battle of the Boyne. Charles may take a different name. Maybe W will be hoping.

Jabberwok Tue 21-Jan-20 16:18:04

I said 'relatively '! Compared to years of civil war, execution, and Cromwells republic , the G.R was pretty low key notwithstanding the battle of the Boyne.

Pantglas2 Tue 21-Jan-20 16:24:18

And William doesn’t need to ‘hope’ trisher, he could always train as a helicopter pilot couldn’t he......oh wait!

lemongrove Tue 21-Jan-20 16:32:40

I think you are right about the present ‘working royals’, Anniebach a pared down RF who will all get on with the job is enough.?

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 16:44:13

Yes lemon , and do it without complaining.

PamelaJ1 Tue 21-Jan-20 18:16:59

Anniebach, some of them would have been male heterosexuals though so that narrowed the field considerably ?

Anniebach Tue 21-Jan-20 18:23:01

Yes I thought of that Pamela, but if 2,000 were female
the odds were very high

Jane10 Tue 21-Jan-20 18:32:46

DH had dealings with Sophie and Edward and was very impressed. A very nice couple who did a great job encouraging a lot of youngsters at an event he was involved with. I didn't speak to them as I was only lurking but was amazed at how tiny they were!

lemongrove Tue 21-Jan-20 19:25:28

That’s because you are 6ft2 Jane10 ?

Jane10 Tue 21-Jan-20 22:36:01

If only lemongrove! They were really quite dinky. Very nicely dressed and with a lovely manner with the youngsters.

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 23:42:11

Sophie Wessex is 5' 5"
Which means I am dinkier still because I think I've shrunk.
And Edward is supposedly 6ft

Are they very slim?

I thought Princess Anne was tiny when I saw her, but it's reported that she is 5' 6". She is very slim.

janipat Wed 22-Jan-20 00:50:47

My mum was a midwife at St Thomas's hospital London when the Queen visited( I think to open the new maternity wing). She said the Queen was tiny but had the most beautiful skin, this was 35/40 years ago!

janipat Wed 22-Jan-20 00:51:58

And should have added, my mum was no Royalist so that was an honest assessment.
