..... they, plus Edward, Sophie and Princess Anne, are doing the country proud this evening.

Jane10 Wed 22-Jan-20 07:18:43

They were petite. Neatly in proportion. No way was Edward 6ft.

I think Lady Louise might start doing some royal work in a few years, she's seems relaxed at events she has had a role in, and she looks sensible.

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 10:08:42

Perhaps they were measured when wearing crowns or tiaras!

tickingbird Wed 22-Jan-20 10:10:06

I saw the Queen close up once many years ago and she does have beautiful skin. I thought she looked like a china doll.

Jane10 Wed 22-Jan-20 11:05:00

She and the Queen mother were wearing platform shoes when I saw them once.
My Dad remembered being shocked at seeing George VI during the war wearing a lot of make up. Apparently it was to make his face clear to soldiers at the back of the large regiment he was inspecting. Sorry. Wandered off the thread!

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 11:06:56

Platform shoes and a crown could add several inches.

Perhaps I should try it grin

I don't agree with having Royals and never have they are given too much money they are greedy. Would love a republic.

Bridgeit Wed 22-Jan-20 15:26:31

The problem is that what ever the system is, nothing can or ever will be level, even or fair.
We can only strive for it to be so.
I have said before ,that as a child I watched a report about the starving families in Biafra, that’s a good 50+ years ago & still it goes on.

Jane10 Wed 22-Jan-20 20:29:05

So true Bridgeit. All those years ago our school was collecting for Biafra, then Ethiopia then Somalia etc Somehow there's always trouble in Africa. I don't know quite why.

During a visit to a Cardiff children's centre today, Kate admitted she had felt lonely and isolated when George was a tiny baby. They were living in Anglesey when William was flying helicopters for the RAF search and rescue team. No family nearby and William working long shifts often at night.

No complaining. She just got on with it.

Anniebach Wed 22-Jan-20 21:53:53

yes, no complaint that no one asked if she was ok.

Callistemon Thu 23-Jan-20 09:48:28

Wars and corruption, Jane10 and Bridgeit sad

trisher Fri 24-Jan-20 17:25:43

Lonely and isolated with just William's nanny brought out of retirement and a new nanny appointed before George was a year old. Poor thing! I wish I'd been as isolated.

janipat Fri 24-Jan-20 17:34:17

Isn't it strange how some are all over one mother who says nobody asked was she OK, but another mother who says she felt isolated is to be sneered at? Some consistency at least would be nice.

Anniebach Fri 24-Jan-20 17:49:03

Kate said she was isolated without family near by, her husband was working.

Megan had her mother fly over from America and we know she has no time for the rest of her family or her husbands family.

Moving from London to Anglesey, try it

trisher Fri 24-Jan-20 17:54:38

I'm consistent I don't think any privileged entitled young woman should be preaching to anyone about how isolated they were when they had the best most expensive child care and enough money to do as they wished. But nor do I think a young woman who takes responsibility for her life and finding happiness should be pilloried because she is strong and independant. One is simply moaning about her life and not quite telling the truth the other is changing things.

Anniebach Fri 24-Jan-20 17:59:51

ttisher your adoration for Megan is simply because you are
a republican and you have great hopes she will damage the
Royal family.

You mock Kate yet ask ‘where is sisterhood ‘ when Megan is criticised , mmmmmmmmmm

janipat Fri 24-Jan-20 18:03:01

One is simply moaning about her life and not quite telling the truth she said she felt lonely and isolated, how is that not quite telling the truth? Were you inside her head to know how she felt? I've never pilloried Meghan, neither will I pillory Catherine. As for moaning, please! Admitting your feelings is not moaning, I thought we were encouraging telling it how it is!

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 18:07:53

You have to remember Kate was chatting to young mums at the time, and trying to empathise with them. I doubt she was really moaning about her lot. Just sharing.

merlotgran Fri 24-Jan-20 18:09:12

Kate wasn't complaining when she said she felt lonely and isolated, she was emphasising with other young mothers during her visit to an Early Years Centre.

In other words, she was showing support.

merlotgran Fri 24-Jan-20 18:09:50

Snap! grin

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 18:10:50

Great minds.... grin

Jabberwok Fri 24-Jan-20 18:14:54

When I was first married DH was in the Fleet Air arm working long hours, periods away from home and I missed him. I expect Katherine did too! Nanny's don't compensate, even much loved parents don't!
I don't think any privileged woman should be preaching to anyone else about their perceived pain and suffering, lecturing others about climate change when they clearly fly around without compunction and do nothing but go on and on about the appalling treatment meeted out by her in laws and the public in her adopted country who actually made her extremely welcome and wished her all good things.

trisher Fri 24-Jan-20 18:15:50

Oh I've got it! Of course she was lonely and isolated because she couldn't talk to the nanny, well you wouldn't would you? She's just staff. Mind I bet some of those young women wouldn't mind a few days isolation like that.

janipat Fri 24-Jan-20 18:22:07

trisher you have no empathy whatsoever if you don't realise people can feel lonely and isolated even in a crowd of people. Catherine seems quite able to converse with anyone. You really do love putting her down don't you, she can't do a single thing right. And you still haven't explained why her saying she felt something is a lie!
