I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking? I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later. I would be heartbroken and furious.
GracesGranMK3 I agree. I try to call out ageism when I see it on other sites but then I come here and frankly, it is hard to defend when so many people behave as they do here. All spite and speculation. The same people that claimed to be sympathetic when Caroline Flack committed suicide but will happily give the same kind of abuse to Meghan that Caroline received. The excuse is that she probably does not read this thread, but the press does and it reinforces the view that what they write is popular. It is disheartening and I don't understand it either.
When two cultures collide (in this case Royalty and celebrity) then one partner has to give up their previous life. It should have been Meghan but has turned out to be Harry, which is wrong on all levels. Marrying into Royalty is similar to taking holy orders, you cannot bend the rules to suit yourself. Meghan must have known this. Remember those chilling words 'What Meghan wants Meghan gets'
Jaycee5, There is no comparison between Caroline Flack and Meghan because we are commenting on a member of the royal family not a TV celeb that some of us had never heard of because we don't watch Love Island.
Jacee a d GG I'm risking a bun fight I know but is it really so awful to pass comment on the behaviour of people who are purposely in the public eye, and supported by the public financially? I can only say I have no invested animosity towards them.
Meghans actions are the reason for adverse comments, not her ethnicity! Perhaps she is worried about Archie travelling, so surely best not to come herself Perhaps she won't, perhaps PH will go into voluntary quarantine on his return? Think the media would have got hold of this if it were the case!
I have been a victim of racism. 1st March 1999, I drove a friend to Moorfield Eye Hospital London, was wearing a daffodil naturally, someone said ‘look at her, they want their own government but want to use our hospital paid for with our taxes. ?
And it works the other way round Annie. My mum was Welsh and begged me never to marry a "foreigner" because her English husband was a bad choice, as were they all!
merlotgran The similarity is to the impact of online and press bullying on an individual that people think are somehow protected from the emotional impact by their status. I don't understand why people enjoy it so much.
Namsnanny Can you imagine? "Fancy bring that baby over here, subjecting him to a plane journey, everyone wanting to see him, touch him, and risking him catching the virus. They should have left him on the island with Nanny"!
Which ever Annie, he wouldn't come into contact with "everyone wanting to see him, touch him" etc. If a commercial flight it would have been first class and I shouldn't think they'd have to queue for passport control and the number of people he'd come into contact with would be minimum.
Yet another person comes along convinced that any criticism of Meghan must automatically stem from racism.
The sensible ones on here have accurately laid out how her behaviour has alienated most of us here, yet STILL the howls of outrage come from those determined to see ‘racism’ where plainly none exists.
Why is it so difficult to understand that if she was white and behaved as she has done, we would still feel exactly the same?
We are criticising her and her behaviour, not her skin colour.
Gossip is often very destructive and usually far from the truth. It seems there is gullibility and gullibility merlotgran. Some are gullible enough to believe their vicious gossip does no harm.
