Yorkshire Tea boycott

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard from so called ”Left Wingers” all over the Internet they are calling for a boycott of Yorkshire Tea after the Chancellor Rishi Sunak was pictured making a pot of tea using Yorkshire Tea Bags.

The political left should have better things to worry about......electing a new leader, forming a front bench to be a credible opposition to the Government and sorting out some policies for a start

Twinnings Assam loose leaf tea for me. As I like it strong probably just as well we only have one pot in the afternoon. Taylor’s of Harrogate Lava Java coffee beans am.

Tea is tea?? Not in my house?.
I don’t drink coffee just lovely tea.
Yorkshire tea unless I can get my hands on the very wonderful strong Barry’s tea.
I don’t care if Yorkshire or Barry’s is the devils tipple, I would never give it up. ☕️ ?? ??

Sean Bean was in my local woods last year

Filming something

It was frightfully exciting

As the sun is considerably past the "yard arm" I am partaking of a very nice Sauvignon blanc.

As a born and bred Yorkshire woman ( yes I know! So many of us on GN, hardly room for anyone else)?I have to say I much prefer Earl Grey into which you must never dunk a biccie.
It’s all a bit laughable ( the twitter thing) but has given Yorkshire Tea a boost if nothing else.

Twitter? - wont affect me never used it - wouldn't know how!

I think a lot of people [myself included] are a bit sick of this 'all things British'ness'. Morrisons sticking Union Jacks on everything etc. I can only assume that the Yorkshire Tea boycott stems from that. I must admit to buying Yorkshire tea most of the time but my SIL recently told me that Tetleys is better and, as I had a great cup of tea at their house the other day I am going to switch. But only when it's on offer.

Question Time was once described as "the BBC's flagship political programme" but over the last twenty odd years it has sunk lower and lower by relentlessly promoting Farage and his anti-EU poison ad nauseam (29 appearances in the years before the fraudulent referendum when only one other MEP was ever invited -brextreemist Tory Daniel Hannan who appeared once), allowing a right-wing extremist to select the audience and by inviting actors and other "celebs" who were often less well informed than the average viewer to spout whatever they had to say, presumably in the name of entertainment.

Sean Bean - aahhhh

suziewoozie Tue 25-Feb-20 17:39:35

What career would that be Lily. He’s already given up acting ( not getting any work), he’s a completely talentless singer and songwriter and there’s a limit to how much of a career there is as a stupid ill educated racist talking head on panels ( it’s such a crowded field already).

trisher Tue 25-Feb-20 17:39:12

Sean Bean is much more fanciable than Lawrence Fox and a better actor. Plus he's Yorkshire!

Paperbackwriter Tue 25-Feb-20 17:30:26

Lilyflower "Laurence Fox's career seems to have been ruined when he pushed back reasonably at some live trolling and uttered opinions with which most sensible middle of the road people would agree."
No I don't think sensible people would agree, actually: he was very insulting and wrong to shout down and find 'boring' a black woman's experience of racism as if he knew better. Some further statements of his were even more stupid (the Sikh presence in the film 1917, for instance) I'm not surprised he is now considered something of an idiot.

Millie22 Tue 25-Feb-20 17:12:22

Much prefer Tetleys tbh.

4allweknow Tue 25-Feb-20 17:05:39

The actual tea is grown outside of UK. Company originally founded by Taylors of Harrogate a well known longstanding company. Why is it such a terrible deed to be making a cuppa with this brand of teabag? Perhaps it was a non political staff member who organised the purchase! Taylors also do coffee, just bought two bags of their toasted beans this morning on special offer. Some folk do need to get a life!

Smileless2012 Tue 25-Feb-20 16:59:28

I'm not a lover of Yorkshire Tea but I do like Sean Bean.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 16:55:06

Sean Bean advertised Yorkshire Tea a while back.

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 16:48:34

Tea is tea

Are you a tea drinker - brands vary a lot.

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 16:47:25

What has Sean Bean got to do with Yorkshire tea?

He's not my cup of tea anyway.

Davidhs Tue 25-Feb-20 16:34:41

“You under-estimate people's intelligence Davidhs”

Never underestimate the power of advertising, seducing customers with the Green Yorkshire Dales and Sean Bean make you all feel good.

I know pretty much the intelligence of most shoppers, so do the retailers. Tea is tea and there ain’t much difference unless you feel posh and order Earl Grey or some such.

georgia101 Tue 25-Feb-20 16:04:36

I'm enjoying a nice cup of Yorkshire tea as I read this.

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 15:54:04

Or your teacup sarahellenwhitney!

Joesoap Tue 25-Feb-20 15:51:02

What a load of rubbish,if you like strong tea,Yorkshire Tea is the one.Lets hope all this talk about Yorkshire Tea will make people want to try it, something good may come out of this. Just off to drink mine!

sarahellenwhitney Tue 25-Feb-20 15:39:25

What ever floats your boat Callistemon.
