Yorkshire Tea boycott

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard from so called ”Left Wingers” all over the Internet they are calling for a boycott of Yorkshire Tea after the Chancellor Rishi Sunak was pictured making a pot of tea using Yorkshire Tea Bags.

The political left should have better things to worry about......electing a new leader, forming a front bench to be a credible opposition to the Government and sorting out some policies for a start

Nothing will separate me from my Yorkshire tea!

Greyduster Tue 25-Feb-20 12:39:58

Personally, as a died in the wool Yorkshire lass, I can’t stand the stuff (only drink Rooibos or Earl Grey), but, by ‘eck!, I will fight to the death for the right of others to stand their spoons up in it!? (including the Chancellor of the Exchequer!).

Now we've had Brexit, I don't think we should drink any tea - it's not grown in England, and is NOT acceptable.
We must drink nettle tea with local grown nettles until such time as the British Raj is reestablished.
I hope it will be with that nice Mr Rees-Mogg as Viceroy, and then, only then, can we once again drink tea grown under decent British rule.
BRITISH TEA FOR BRITISH PEOPLE!

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 12:44:36

I thought you were going to tell us that it was for ethical reasons .....

Ah well, I can relax and enjoy another brew and by 'eck, Greyduster, no other tea will do!

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 12:49:37

Davidhs well, Dorset Tea is not grown in Dorset either ....
Cornish Tea is not grown in Cornwall, although a specialist tea is grown there.
I don't think that Dorset Tea is even produced in Dorset any longer shock

How ridiculous. I shall just make sure I make more Yorkshire Tea than usual, and let all my friends know. So there!

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 13:00:03

GreenGran78 Tue 25-Feb-20 13:17:16

Don’t tell anyone, or it may start another War of the Roses. (whisper) I drink Yorkshire Tea, and I’m a Lancashire lass.

GreenGran78 Tue 25-Feb-20 13:18:26

and I HATE soggy dunked biscuits of any kind!

Pix5 Tue 25-Feb-20 13:19:58

I support Yorkshire tea! I'll go and buy a box now.

allule Tue 25-Feb-20 13:22:09

Rich tea...yes.
Dunking...no!

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 13:24:52

Yorkshire Biscuit Tea tastes like tar that’s had a malt biscuit stirred into it shock It’s definitely a love it/loathe it thing.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 13:25:11

Tea not tat. Although...

Barmeyoldbat Tue 25-Feb-20 13:25:25

I can't stand tea, just hate the taste and the smell makes me heave. So sorry I don't care.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 13:25:52

Oh for heaven’s sake - tea not tar

Greymar Tue 25-Feb-20 13:28:18

Barmey , me too. Hate the smell of it.

pollyperkins Tue 25-Feb-20 13:32:56

Found this easily by googling

Scribbles Tue 25-Feb-20 13:42:45

I'm obvious!y a bit slow and I don't do Twitter but please can somebody explain why a picture of somebody making tea (of whatever brand) is offensive to anyone?
(....Goes away, scratching head in puzzlement)

Yehbutnobut Tue 25-Feb-20 13:43:07

They use plastic in their tea bags.

pollyperkins Tue 25-Feb-20 13:43:23

I quite agree Scribbles

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 13:47:43

Because it’s Twitter scribbles - a place where pond life go to stir things up. It’s best not even attempting to understand it - rational brains will struggle to do so smile

kittylester Tue 25-Feb-20 13:47:59
