This is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard from so called ”Left Wingers” all over the Internet they are calling for a boycott of Yorkshire Tea after the Chancellor Rishi Sunak was pictured making a pot of tea using Yorkshire Tea Bags.
The political left should have better things to worry about......electing a new leader, forming a front bench to be a credible opposition to the Government and sorting out some policies for a start
I'm quite left leaning (and I use Twitter). But as I don't like being told who and what I should boycott, and for such silly reasons, the next teabags I buy will be Yorkshire ones. FFS - when are people going to GROW UP.
I suspect that Yorkshire Tea will get the most benefit from all this publicity. Bet they're laughing their socks off - or should that be teabags?
NB As a born and bred Yorkshire woman, now living in the South, I've been drinking YT for years - did you know that they do one especially for hard water areas?
Yorkshire tea is nothing more than a very clever marketing machine aimed at convincing impressionable shoppers that the tea has a connection with Yorkshire - it doesn’t.
There are plenty of foods that do but not tea
It’s blended by Taylor’s of Harrogate according to Google, so I guess that’s the connection to Yorkshire.
It is one of the most idiotic things to happen but what do we expect Idiots are simply that Idiots.

Extracts from the various formats from the BBC link :-
'The Twitter image led to calls by some on the left for a boycott of the brand.
The company said it had been "pretty shocked" by the outcry, reminding people that Jeremy Corbyn had also posed with its products in 2017.'
'It's been pretty shocking to see the determination some have had to drag us into a political mudfight. But it's been lovely to see others speak up for us - we're so grateful to everyone who's done that in a civil way (and gutted to see some use it as a reason for more nastiness).'
' But for anyone about to vent their rage online, even to a company - please remember there's a human on the other end of it, and try to be kind.'--
This has been spoken about in the press and TV and is possibly receiving a wider audience than some think.
IF and I repeat IF because I cannot find one piece of evidence to back up the accusation but IF those on the right of politics had called for Yorkshire Tea to be boycotted because Corbyn had his picture taken with the product I would think it was utterly moronic / ridiculous and call them idiots.
I think it is utterly moronic / ridiculous on the other hand to call for a boycott of Yorkshire Tea because Rishi Sunak had his picture taken with the product.
I think it is deemed a bit of sport, a fuss about nothing, it will be yesterday's chip paper but it will have damaged / targeted a respectable company and as they say :-
' please remember there's a human on the other end of it, and try to be kind.'

Well, fancy that. I expect most people thought Yorkshire was wall-to-wall (or-moor-to-moor) tea plantations manned by good salt-of-the-earth Yorkshire people wandering amongst the rows with baskets on their backs.
You under-estimate people's intelligence Davidhs
I am a socialist and don’t think most normal left wing socialists would boycott a tea just because a Tory was seen drinking the product! I guess this has been blown up by the media for sensationalism purposes. I did however as a pro EU person personally boycott companies which ploughed money into Brexit, which is different, as this was those companies actively supporting something with which I vehemently disagreed!
Thanks for the explanation, Yehbut. My mind hurts from boggling.
I really don't understand why anyone in any position of influence or authority takes any notice of these spiteful extremists who comment when it is clear that the majority opinion is usually not being expressed.
Laurence Fox's career seems to have been ruined when he pushed back reasonably at some live trolling and uttered opinions with which most sensible middle of the road people would agree.
Sudden and cowardly back covering on the part of authority is sometimes (but not often enough) revealed to be mistaken as when Roger Scruton was hastily sacked from a position recently. It turned out that the left wing extremist had copy/pasted and confected Scruton's opinion and an apology had to be issued.

Did you take no notice of what the company has said.
' It's been pretty shocking to see the determination some have had to drag us into a political mudfight. But it's been lovely to see others speak up for us - we're so grateful to everyone who's done that in a civil way (and gutted to see some use it as a reason for more nastiness).'

The media have reported what is happening, the sensationalism belongs to the morons who say they will boycott their product.
Anyone know which brand of red wine it was that Boris spilled?
Should we boycott it?

Reporting it however adds fuel to the idiots calling for a boycott doesn’t it and keeps it in the headlines!
Not only does Rishi have 'taste' but looks
to 'die' for.
perhaps, but he's not everyone's cup of tea sarahellenwhitney
I wonder what inspired ? the makers of one of my favourite coffee's to give it the name Camp?
Oh Davidhs you have just shattered my illusions. My mum and dad always told me that Yorkshire tea was grown, picked and packed in Yorkshire and all along it was just a marketing ploy. What can I believe in now? Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy and now Yorkshire tea all just stories. But I still believe there's a Big Bad Wolf and he's living in No. 10!
Sad really!
I enjoy Yorkshire, tea, PG Tips, Tetleys and many other teas and would not boycott.

Thousands of pounds worth of free publicity, we love YT in this house down in the South!
What ever floats your boat Callistemon.
What a load of rubbish,if you like strong tea,Yorkshire Tea is the one.Lets hope all this talk about Yorkshire Tea will make people want to try it, something good may come out of this. Just off to drink mine!
Or your teacup sarahellenwhitney!
I'm enjoying a nice cup of Yorkshire tea as I read this.
“You under-estimate people's intelligence Davidhs”
Never underestimate the power of advertising, seducing customers with the Green Yorkshire Dales and Sean Bean make you all feel good.
I know pretty much the intelligence of most shoppers, so do the retailers. Tea is tea and there ain’t much difference unless you feel posh and order Earl Grey or some such.
