In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

To call someone’a disgrace and a waste of space’ is distasteful

Summerlove Wed 18-Mar-20 21:49:49

Summerlove it was said on the news non essential travel will not be allowed to cross the border. It is to be announced soon.

Citizens will still be able to enter their country. Canadians in America will still be allowed to go home and vice versa. It’s tourists that won’t be able to go. Supply trucks and trucking business is, as well as other potential business things will still be allowed to cross. Also, that’s just the land border. Plans are still flying I’ll be at at fewer airports

Is it acceptable to say of any person ‘they are past their sell by
date’. trisher ? If so what is the sell by date you would put on
any human being?

I wouldn’t say it about an animal.

Chewbacca Wed 18-Mar-20 22:32:47

She's a disgrace and a waste of space.

Hmm, I can think of several people who fit that description but the Queen isn't the first one that springs to mind. hmm

merlotgran Wed 18-Mar-20 22:38:48

It's all a question of timing. At the moment everyone is focusing on government updates every afternoon. Of course the Queen will make a speech from Windsor but she will be advised on the best time to do it.

gillybob Wed 18-Mar-20 22:40:52

My heart is bleeding for the rf . How on earth will they cope in light of the recent restrictions ? I mean who will shop for her maj? (She obviously can’t shop for herself can she? ) What about Charlie and Camilla ? I do hope Willy and Kate are shopping for them.

maddyone Wed 18-Mar-20 23:18:14

I don’t like the expression that ‘they’re past their sell by date’ applied to any human being personally. My mother is 92 years old, as are both my parents in law. If a nearly 94 year old is described in such a way, so must all the over 90s. Actually the Queen does rather more work than do any of my three, although I realise that she has handed a lot over to her 70+ year old son, and William and Kate. Nonetheless I don’t agree that anyone should be described in such a manner, I think it’s dehumanisin
Come on Suzie, you know this is below you.

maddyone Wed 18-Mar-20 23:19:25

dehumanising

I don’t know why the g dropped off.

Namsnanny Wed 18-Mar-20 23:43:46

Still waiting for an answer suz

paddyanne Thu 19-Mar-20 01:30:20

SUZ I've always thought they were a waste of space, so much good could have been done with the tens of millions she gets every year not counting the "Duchy" incomes and everything else she manages to pocket .Lets face it she couldn't give a flying fig about her "subjects" onlt y the gravy train they provide for her and her expanding brood .

I look forward to the day they all get the sack .France had the right idea centuries ago ....and guess what ....they still have millions of tourists spending billions of euros.

Calendargirl Thu 19-Mar-20 06:48:00

It doesn’t seem to matter what the subject is, all your posts are nasty Paddyanne

Anniebach Thu 19-Mar-20 08:24:03

paddyanne’s posts regarding some of Scotland’s politicians and retired politicians have been full of praise

Grany Thu 19-Mar-20 08:30:58

Well Said paddyanne I totally agree with you. The Royals are a waste of money.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Mar-20 08:31:38

There should never be a sell by date attributed to any human being, whether you like them or not.

How utterly deplorable to post such a thing when people round the world are losing loved ones daily!!

Anniebach Thu 19-Mar-20 08:37:31

To hear any human being is a waste of space tells much of those who say it.

Grany Thu 19-Mar-20 08:49:48

I agree with everything you said suziewoozie What is the point of any of them?

trisher Thu 19-Mar-20 09:02:56

Annie perhaps the Queen is "past her sell by date" for the role she insists on clinging to. Perhaps if she had retired like most of us and changed her way of life we would have more respect for her. As it is the only reason for keeping her in role is a belief in the divine right of kings. There is no other reason for her continuing. I was imagining what people would be saying if we had an elected Head of State. I don't think they would be permitted to hide away in any residence.

Anniebach Thu 19-Mar-20 09:07:16

trisher perhaps ? There was no ‘perhaps’ in the posts

trisher Thu 19-Mar-20 09:23:12

Perhaps then you can say why she isn't past her sell by date Annie as the rest of us undoubtedly have been in our careers. Why is she different?

Greymar Thu 19-Mar-20 09:30:49

Whatever your views, it would have been far more sensible for the Queen to hand over as she reached say 65. That way she would still have done a very god job and been continuity from the past to the present. If the RF had begun sensible, grown up talks at the point , they perhaps wouldn't have been in the mess they are today.

Perhaps we are projecting our own " stuff" onto these figureheads. The Queen, so tiny and frail is sad to see in my opinion.

paddyanne, is not nasty. She has strongly held and consistent views.

Jabberwok Thu 19-Mar-20 10:14:41

What a horrible, horrible conversation by horrible horrible people about a person who has devoted her life since the age of 25 to the service of this country and whose only crime is to be old! Your comments are disgusting particularly yours paddyann concerning the French revolution! I find it hard to believe you would talk like that about anybody! Bully for the Dutch! The same RF that fled to Britain in WW2, Our RF stayed here in the face of invasion! but no doubt that was disgraceful to the left on here!

Calendargirl Thu 19-Mar-20 10:18:12

Lots of others have strongly held and consistent views Greymar but are more tolerant than Paddyanne.

Jabberwok Thu 19-Mar-20 10:22:21

Isn't strange that abroad, particularly the Commonwealth our Queen is loved and respected,, it's only in this country people are so vile about her! As for abdicating? Apart from Edward V111th, no monach in the history of this country or Scotland has ever done this and there is no reason on earth why this one should!

trisher Thu 19-Mar-20 10:24:38

No one has yet explained to me why the Queen should remain in post apart from a belief in the Divine Right. Now I accept that she may well believe that but why should the rest of us? If a 94 year old was at the Asda and insisted she was the checkout manager although she was noticably frail do you really think she would be kept on?

Anniebach Thu 19-Mar-20 10:37:57

Nothing to do with divine right, just a woman who made a
promise when she was 21 years old and is keeping to her
promise.

Best we all ignore David Attenborough’s warnings on the
environment, at 93 , he is by some here - past his sell by date.
