THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands. ”
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus

Annie The RF has a member with paedophile connections who isn't cooperating with the FBI. A member who screws as much money out of his tenants as he possibly can. There was a notorious drunk and many others who wouldn't stand up to close inspection. I don't think Mitterand or any other President could possibly compete and if they did they would certainly have been removed from office.

Be it far from me to even comment on another country's way of governing itself and every system has its faults, but no system has a head of state that isn't backed up by enormous sums of money and influence, (corruption?!) The RF are no worse or better than anyone else, and the Queen herself is almost certainly not corrupt and is above politics so why change it?!

It's not about family members, it's about the person themselves! Which one of us can help how our family behaves, and which one of us would have lost our job because a family member fell foul of the law?! Nobody I suspect!
We can debate the benefits and pitfalls of a monarchy versus a republic till the cows come home and most people will still be firmly in one camp or the other. Personally I believe that the Queen has represented us well since she was catapulted into the job prematurely due to her father’s early death. She is now nearly 94 years old and I think it would have been better if she had retired when she was 65 or 70. Nonetheless she didn’t seek my advice. She made a promise and she intends to keep it. Normally that is seen as an admirable quality.
Of course the family has black sheep within it. Are all the members of your families lily white? But the black sheep aren’t the H of S. The Queen is. And she appears to have taken her duties seriously and done her best to represent Britain around the world and at home.
Now she is in her twilight years, she should be able to follow the same advice as all our other older citizens, in other words, to self isolate. She may well yet speak to the nation, we’re a bit behind the other countries in Europe with this situation. Let’s wait and see, we actually have more to worry about at the moment than this.
I have just been off for nearly 2 hours doing some baking and eating my lunch, and I come back onto this thread to find that Trisher is still arguing about the RF!!! Sigh.

Governments are in power because they have been given a mandate of sorts through the ballot box.
There are however two unelected individuals who behind the scenes have acquired the unique right to be consulted on, shape, and even block legislation that affects their private interests in a way they do not like. Those individuals are the Queen and the Prince of Wales.

Cognitive dissonance. Everyone defending the Queens right to say nothing needs to seriously look into it.
Some long for the Queen to make a speech so they can mock her.
Some long for their Queen to reassure them. Just as she did in days Of old. It’s a noticeable absence that the Royal Family have said nothing. It’s disappointing.
But it’s totally ok to expect the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to live up to other people’s expectations.

People keep harkening back to how the world was worse than this and how everybody just carried on. Well, when the queen was a princess she addressed the nation of children at that point and apparently gave them a lot of comfort. She could do the exact same now.
We really don't need a very well heeled old woman telling us to keep calm and carry on Summerlove .
There's one thing for sure she (and her family) won't be worrying about where their next meal will come from or if she can get her hands on a loo roll or paracetamols.
She would give me no comfort whatsoever in fact I think she might just make a lot of people feel a lot worse .
The Queen will do what her advisers advise as she always has even when she was a Princess. Her speech to the children would no doubt be considered patronising these days certainly
among republicans, so perhaps best to wait, or perhaps Prince William will do the honours if the over 70's are in lock down. Who knows what is planned.
Prince William has made a speech regarding a National Charity, cannot remember the exact name but it has been set up to help people in need during the coming weeks/months.
