In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

maddy there could be a reason for Phillip moving to Windsor, St. Gorge’s Chapel and Frogmore

GrannyLaine Fri 20-Mar-20 08:25:24

Errr.... or could it be that the Royal Family normally spend Easter at Windsor Castle?

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-20 08:28:07

Could be, just going a week early

Lucca Fri 20-Mar-20 08:33:17

About to stick head above the parapet. Every morning I see this thread is still going and can’t believe it, then through some awful fascination I look and see it’s exactly exactly exactly the same as when it started, I m sorry but I think it’s becoming an obsession for some.

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-20 08:59:16

Yet you read it ?

Lucca Fri 20-Mar-20 09:02:29

I just said that

merlotgran Fri 20-Mar-20 09:37:30

So, Harry and Meghan are going to 'provide accurate information and facts from Rusian pranksters trusted experts' grin grin grin

Pointless witterings, in other words.

Sparklefizz Fri 20-Mar-20 09:38:38

grin merlotgran

Nothing wrong with the Queen and Prince Philip isolating themselves at Windsor a week early. It's only fair to their staff to scale back and should Philip need to be hospitalised again they are much closer to an appropriate hospital.

MawB Fri 20-Mar-20 09:41:43

Just looking in out of curiosity as I couldn’t imagine there was much more to be said!
Glad to see Prince Philip joining the Queen at Windsor - I wonder how much longer he has. Another sad thought, you can have all the money, power, possessions in the world but when he goes it will be a massive blow for her.

GrannyLaine Fri 20-Mar-20 09:58:06

Pragmatic decision to go now, I would say, as there is always the possibility of London going on lockdown

Greymar Fri 20-Mar-20 11:24:32

The next piece of news surely has to be PP has died? That will lead to a flurry of activity here.

annsixty Fri 20-Mar-20 11:29:12

I thought he looked very old, as he is, but quite dapper and no frailer than anyone of his age would.

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-20 11:36:01

If he were to die I am sure there will posts here expressing
sympathy

Eglantine21 Fri 20-Mar-20 11:43:58

Did you mean to sound quite so callous Greymar.

I get you don’t like royalty but he is still a person and somebody’s beloved.

Greymar Fri 20-Mar-20 11:46:56

I have never said I don't like royalty. I think some of them do a fine job.

I mean a sense of foreboding and that will be the next thing maybe.

eazybee Fri 20-Mar-20 11:53:11

What a lot of morbid speculation!
I know Prince Philip is not the monarch, but at one time it used to be treason to speculate on the death of the King.(Immersed in 'The Mirror and the Light'; now those really were dangerous times.)

Eglantine21 Fri 20-Mar-20 11:55:15

Oh, ok.

I just thought it sounded a bit dismissive of the man......

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-20 12:01:15

Don’t mean to be morbid, I hope he sees his 100 birthday, he
Will get a telegram from the Queen, and he deserves a state
funeral

eazybee Fri 20-Mar-20 12:02:39

And just to add, I am amazed to find that I actually feel some sympathy for Princess Beatrice, not one of my favourites, because of all the uncertainty about her wedding. I know it is the same for many brides at the moment, but they don't have such embarrassing families.

Her father, (will he be allowed out), her mother, (behaviour), the venue, the Reception, the guests, (limited to five), will THEY attend? They clearly can't hold it in Italy.

Anniebach Fri 20-Mar-20 12:31:40

I am sure her father will attend. Perhaps they will delay it a
year

Calendargirl Fri 20-Mar-20 14:11:55

I thought I had read a day or two ago that Bea has postponed her wedding already.

Callistemon Fri 20-Mar-20 15:10:18

I think the limit is five in total eazybee - the priest (or officiator), the bride and groom and two witnesses which is the minimum allowed.

I do feel sorry for anyone whose wedding has been postponed because of the virus and I also feel sorry for anyone whose livelihood depends on the wedding business.

merlotgran Fri 20-Mar-20 15:23:15

I feel sorry for Beatrice as well. Harry and Meghan had all the razzamatazz they wanted and Eugenie's wedding was lovely with family from both sides. Beatrice sensibly decided on a low key 'do' but I bet the poor girl didn't reckon on the lowest key imaginable.

I hope when they do eventually get married the Queen and Prince Philip will be able to attend.

maddyone Fri 20-Mar-20 15:23:48

I feel sorry for all the weddings being postponed, all the planning, the money, the hope and expectation, it’s very sad.
I’m pleased Philip is joining the Queen, they should be together at this difficult time. As I said yesterday, I truly hope he doesn’t die at this time because I can’t see how they can have a state funeral, which is what will have been planned. The same goes for the Queen too. As for the rest of us, if we have family deaths I cannot see how we can have a normal funeral. It’s very sad when people can’t say goodbye properly to their loved ones. That’s what I was trying to say yesterday. Perhaps I didn’t word it very well.
