Oh dear Harry and Meghan

In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

Yes, it is absolutely unfair. Harry has ditched the royal family, except for their money of course, and so he should behave exactly like any other person. It’s seems he/they want a foot in both camps, all the privileges and none of the boring duties. I’m heartily sick of them both, and their precious behaviour. It’s enough to make me think about becoming a republican!
I don’t resent Prince Charles getting a Coronavirus test, even though he’s not in hospital as the rest of us would be, but I absolutely resent Harry being given diplomatic status, it’s immoral in my opinion. Trump appears to love the Queen so will probably do whatever they ask just because he likes the Queen so much.

Does that mean that M automatically gets it also? Unbelievable

I think they treated Canada very badly. Publicly sucking up thanking them just because they took an extended break at Vancouver Island? Turning up at Canada House to feather their nest before announcing Megxit? Expecting Canadian tax payers to foot half their security bill?

Then making a hasty retreat just as the borders are about to close - probably because none of their demands were met.

They won't find Trump a soft touch. At least I hope not. He might like the Queen but H&M were extremely rude to him when he visited Britain and made no secret of their dislike.

Meghan is an American citizen but why should Harry get any special favours?

Jane10 Sun 29-Mar-20 17:11:58

maddyone I don't think people are automatically in hospital if they have Coronavirus. If the symptoms are mild as Prince Charles's seems to be its quite right that he's at home.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 17:45:32

He leaves his family , the U.K. and charities to protect his wife
and child and moves to LA! He does the dramatics so well, as
did his mother. Play the victim, keep the money and stay on
the front pages.

maddyone Sun 29-Mar-20 17:54:45

Jane10 yes I know that Jane, I meant Prince Charles had a Coronavirus test because he started to show symptoms, but he remained at home. As I understand it, none of us would be tested whilst at home with symptoms, we would only be tested if we were admitted to hospital. Perhaps I didn’t explain what I meant clearly, sorry.
In fact the same has applied to Boris and other members of government, they’ve had tests but remain at home. We won’t get a test unless we’re admitted to hospital. Well I have no resentment about that, but I do resent Harry being given diplomatic immunity, if he is given it, when H+M very clearly and publicly stated that they wanted to be private citizens. So why don’t they get on with it and be private, ordinary citizens?

Jane10 Sun 29-Mar-20 17:59:50

Yes. Why on earth should they have diplomatic immunity. They're not diplomats - in fact the opposite really!

Smileless2012 Sun 29-Mar-20 18:02:07

I was referring to our ES Annie.

SueDonim Sun 29-Mar-20 18:02:58

I don’t think Meghan would get diplomatic immunity as she’s a US citizen. Maybe it’s to do with their security detail. Tbh, I don’t know why I’m even commenting, I’ve lost interest in them both! grin

maddyone Sun 29-Mar-20 18:07:47

Haha, yes, I think they could do with some lessons in diplomacy.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 18:31:13

Smileless. I am so sorry but what / who is ES ?

Oopsadaisy3 Sun 29-Mar-20 18:54:42

Mrs Simpson?

Oopsadaisy3 Sun 29-Mar-20 18:55:05

Forget that her name was Wallace wasn’t it......

maddyone Sun 29-Mar-20 19:01:20

Annie
It means estranged son. Very sadly Smileless has an estranged son.

Jabberwok Sun 29-Mar-20 19:02:27

It was!!!

Smileless2012 Sun 29-Mar-20 19:19:00

Thanks maddyonesmile. Sorry Annie I was posting my own thoughts and not clarifying them.

I remember posting on the first H & M thread about the similarities between M and our ES's wife. I could see it coming and it was and is, like watching our own experience played out on the public stage.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 20:16:46

Thank you maddy

I am so sorry Smileless it must cause hurt for you x

eazybee Sun 29-Mar-20 20:23:11

Do you think the interest in them will last beyond a few years, now they are no longer royal and can't offer exclusive visits to royal palaces and functions and introductions to 'personages'?
They are neither of them particularly talented.

Smileless2012 Sun 29-Mar-20 20:37:07

Thank you Anniesmile.

I doubt it will last that long eazybee. Any interest seems to be outweighed by anger at how they have, and continue to behave.

With so much going on, now is not the time, but when this is over I hope there's a review of the arrangements with regard to their security and the funding they receive from the tax payer is revoked.

I think it's in the region of 8 million a year, which in the scheme of things may seem like a drop in the ocean but think of what good use that money could be put too.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 20:43:30

It will last as long as he keeps talking of his mother. He knows
this will bring awwwwww.

Smileless2012 Sun 29-Mar-20 20:47:35

Surely that has a limited shelf life though Annie I mean it's already past it's sell by date isn't it.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 20:48:29

The Duke of Windsor received an allowance from 1936 when
he abdicated until his brother King George died in 1952, it
was then stopped

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 20:50:27

Smileless I don’t think it’s past it’s sell by date for the Diana
fans

Ellianne Sun 29-Mar-20 21:08:52

I agree Annie, Diana was for many people a legend, especially Americans.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 22:23:37

Yes Ellianne and some here still believe she was murdered !
