In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

No Jane10 then you'd all be complaining they never told us/said goodbye etc.

Anniebach Tue 31-Mar-20 13:46:32

There is no need for many threads, posters choose what they
want to discuss, there is always the choice, read of don’t read

I wish I had backed my claim with cash ( to DH) as when they first went off to Canada I said they won’t be there for long, they’ll be off to the US to live, probably LA.

Jane10 Tue 31-Mar-20 13:47:47

No trisher I wouldn't. I don't even think about the RF usually but the manoeuvring of these two have brought them to my attention. I'm not impressed. Good riddance and I don't want to hear any more about them.

The Duchy of Cornwall consists of 132 thousand acres generating a lot of wealth So PC has plenty of spare cash to spend on H&M

Bridgeit Tue 31-Mar-20 14:00:58

And generating a lot of jobs, especially in areas where employment is lacking.

Jabberwok Tue 31-Mar-20 14:32:47

Sulky pants?! When where? True, P.W was angry at the service on Commonwealth day, perhaps the upstaging of other royals could have had something to do with that! Otherwise I don't see any 'sulking '! In fact they seem a devoted couple doing their duty, supported by three delightful children whom we are allowed to see!.

maddyone Tue 31-Mar-20 14:42:47

Grany you are right, Prince Charles is a rich man, but so is Richard Branson who lives on his own private island, because if he lived in Britain he’d have to pay taxes to the UK government. But few appear to condemn him. And now he wants a government hand out to bail out his company.

I believe taxes are one, only one I emphasise, of the reason why H+M have gone to LA. Apparently American citizens have to pay tax on their income, (which includes the money Prince Charles gives them) they pay taxes whether they are living inside the USA or not. Therefore by living in Canada (or Britain) they have to pay tax on their income twice, but by relocating to America, they only pay once.

Grany Tue 31-Mar-20 14:45:48

The monarchy costs 334 million every year that's costs of security cost to councils and loss of revenue from the Duchies

Charles is a master lobbyist he writen hundreds of letters to polititions. Can decide what legislation he wants and doesn't want for his own financial benefit

People on Isles of Scilly can't buy the land their house was built on like you could with any other landlord. It is feudal

maddyone Tue 31-Mar-20 14:47:39

Jabberwok is correct in my opinion, Prince William is just getting on with it, which means he has to do more work now that Harry has left.

Anniebach Tue 31-Mar-20 14:52:59

The costs of security is never disclosed,

Grany Tue 31-Mar-20 15:28:58

Their will are kept secret too

Grany Tue 31-Mar-20 15:29:11

Wills

Jabberwok Tue 31-Mar-20 15:36:06

So are most peoples!

Grany Tue 31-Mar-20 15:54:07

Yes but people's will can be seen

Depends on wether probate granted
After the Grant of Probate has been issued, the Will becomes a public document and anyone can then apply to the Probate Registry for a copy of the Will.

The Queen Mother could “look the East End in the face” as the royals were all safely ensconced in Windsor Castle with good food and the Royal jewels hidden in biscuit tins in the basement. She just dressed up, smirked her way round the peasants and went back to the good life.
She had a touch of Markle about her, on the make, self absorbed and an actress.
The present Queen is the real deal.

trisher Tue 31-Mar-20 16:23:07

maddyone I know a lot of people who hate Richard Branson, don't think he should get any money and should pay his taxes.

Anniebach Tue 31-Mar-20 16:25:55

In fairness to the QM, that was 80 years ago, not a time when
the royal family would be seen with their hair wrapped in a scarf and wearing trousers, she was of her time dress wise.

Greymar Tue 31-Mar-20 16:43:02

they seem a devoted couple

They seem like nice people, who knows? None of us.

Great post holly. Isn't it interesting the way that phrase has stuck. Clever PR machine.

Jabberwok Tue 31-Mar-20 16:53:48

Well the 'peasants' certainly cheered them and old Winson at the end of the war! At least they didn't leave the country at a time of need which they could easily have done. The late Queen mother supported her husband after he had been pitched into a position that he neither wanted or had been prepared for, she didn't encourage him to run away. Yes she was a tough cookie and hated Wallace, but to accuse her of being like MM is just laughable. I think she would have considered her vulgar and a complete charleton. During the war the King and Queen did not go to Windsor, they stayed in Buckingham Palace which suffered nine direct hits. The Princesses went to Windsor for their safety. The King also went abroad to visit his troops in France and North Africa. Princess Elizabeth joined the ATS, Princess Margaret joined the Sea Rangers. Windsor Castle was built for the safety of the RF, a fact most people know!

Greymar Tue 31-Mar-20 16:55:47

Didn't the QM and some other hideous old bat plot and scheme to find a nice young virgin for Charles?

Anniebach Tue 31-Mar-20 17:05:47

No scheming, all planned between Johnnie Spencer and his
mother in law right from his 3 daughters childhood,

Jabberwok Tue 31-Mar-20 17:11:38

What's that got to do with her war record? She was in fact Lady Femoy, Diana's maternal Grandmother lady in waiting to Q.E the Queen Mother. How do you know that she was a hideous old bat?!

trisher Tue 31-Mar-20 17:12:02

Actually the peasants didn't cheer Churchill his popularity is a largely constructed myth. The dockers in Hull booed him, the dockers and the miners hated him. It's why he didn't win the post war election. The dockland cranes that dipped at his funeral only did it because the drivers were paid overtime.

GagaJo Tue 31-Mar-20 17:23:44

The QM, a woman born to wealth, would have looked down on MM and seen her as vulgar? A black woman who came from a normal family and worked her way up. Of course she would. Racist, silver spoon and with nazi links. Bit less palatable than vulgar.

Although, that's just your assumption JW. Probably says more about the writer than the QM.
