It’s said as a precaution, not an emergency. I hope he recovers. Who will lead?

No one is indispensable. Boris was working extremely hard? Getting the cabinet to behave like infant school children chanting about Brexit and trying to get Big Ben to bong when the pandemic had started in China. Thats my memory of a few short weeks ago. Remind us what did about the floods?

LIZZIE28 Mon 06-Apr-20 11:27:38

Needs to take proper time off and look after himself.

Get well soon Boris.

francisdelima Mon 06-Apr-20 11:29:21

Get well soon Prime Minister.

Pippa22. Hear, hear on your comments about a certain poster. An unpleasant bully indeed who appears on numerous threads with a viscious nasty streak. Friends.. ha ha! I very much doubt it!
I really hope Boris gets better soon, the country needs him well and firing on all cylinders.

CaroleAnne Mon 06-Apr-20 11:30:35

Yes very worrying about Boris. I hope that he will make a good recovery. I thought that he did not look at all well last week. He certainly must rest. Let someone else take the reins for a while to allow him to recover properly.
My best wishes for Carrie and the baby too.

Mapleleaf Mon 06-Apr-20 11:42:47

I think that whatever our political persuasion, no one with a degree of humanity would wish for Mr Johnson to decline in health? I wish him well, and sincerely hope he recovers from this dreadful illness. He looked dreadful on Thursday evening when he stood at the door to applaud key workers. The poor man needs proper rest. Whatever we might think of Government policies, I don't think this is the thread to debate them - it needs a thread of its own.

FarNorth Mon 06-Apr-20 11:43:00

Seriously, Pippa22, organising the government - to be a complete shambles in dealing with brexit and with covid.
And why would you expect the leader of the opposition to 'be of some use' to the government? Their job is to oppose.

Luckygirl Mon 06-Apr-20 11:47:44

Essex59 - we do not need Boris. He is a bumbler. We need a statesperson who is clear and decisive.

I am sorry the poor man is ill, but he is not the leader we need just now. I watched one of the briefings from a while back and he was saying that he had shaken hands with lots of people on a hospital visit - Chris Witty had to intervene and say that hands should be washed and Boris enquires whether before or after!

I do not wish him ill and hope he will get better soon - but we truly do not need him as leader at this time. However the worry is that we might finish up with Gove at the helm eventually - now that would be a worry.

FarNorth Mon 06-Apr-20 11:48:14

Mapleleaf it's relevant that Boris has behaved stupidly all along and continues to risk his own health by not resting when he has a serious illness.

Jabberwok Mon 06-Apr-20 11:50:27

Susiewoozie isn't the only poster making unpleasant comments, implying that Boris has been lazy and indolent ever since taking office which is blatantly untrue! As for the floods, what good could an early visit have done except create more headaches over security and had him getting under the appropriate authorities feet taking up their time and getting in the way So bringing up that irrelevant issue as he lies dangerously ill, is inappropriate to say the least!
Boris being ill is the last thing we need, and God willing he makes a speedy recovery.

I wish him well. He didn't sign up for this just a few months ago, when we were in another world, and has had unbelievable pressure, along with everyone else at the cutting edge.

Sparklefizz Mon 06-Apr-20 11:54:49

I sincerely hope Boris (and Carrie) get well soon.

Unbelievable that some posters on here can make dreadful political comments about him when he's seriously ill. Where is their common decency and humanity? He is someone's father, partner and brother.

I despair some times! shock

Hopefully Boris will get better but as for his country needing him. He’s dire. We absolutely don’t need him. Do you really think he would be where he is if he wasn’t born with a silver spoon. Would probably have been a comedian on the stage, much more suited to that.

MaizieD Mon 06-Apr-20 11:58:07

The country needs neither of them, jh85

suziewoozie Mon 06-Apr-20 11:58:15

Pippa same applies to you - I actually think BJ’s Health is far too serious a matter to use it to take cheap pot shots at KS which is what Essex did. Can you explain please why her post was acceptable to you? On what planet? For the avoidance of doubt, KS would not be an alternative to BJ in the current situation. Do you get that?

Joesoap Mon 06-Apr-20 12:04:19

Yes he has looked unwell the past days, lets hope the tests mean he can be treated and be will again soon.

vegansrock Mon 06-Apr-20 12:05:45

It is not lacking in humanity to wish him a speedy recovery on a human level is it? Doesn’t mean we have to agree he has done some kind of marvellous job.

eazybee Mon 06-Apr-20 12:06:40

Boris being ill and taken to hospital does rather negate all the comments about him not knowing or experiencing what 'ordinary' people are going through.

Be thankful for what you have and don't disparage others.
So easy to criticise.

dragonfly46 Mon 06-Apr-20 12:10:14

Suzie anyone will tell you I do not take cheap shots at people but I am astonished at your tone and unpleasantness.

Romola Mon 06-Apr-20 12:11:51

I hope BJ has a good long convalescence to think about his record of indecision at the start of this pandemic. And I also hope that he realises that the Brexit transition period must be extended as leaders of all the EU nations struggle with the pandemic.

growstuff Mon 06-Apr-20 12:15:05

Lot of new posters on here today! (Just musing hmm)

Nannieannie51 Mon 06-Apr-20 12:17:34

I agree Romola. The voice of common sense.
