It’s said as a precaution, not an emergency. I hope he recovers. Who will lead?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 06-Apr-20 12:18:28

Isolating appears to affect GN members in different ways, fortunately it brings out the best in the majority.

I wish our PM a speedy recovery, and I do hope that Carrie Symonds is feeling better with no adverse affect on her pregnancy or unborn child.

Indeed! And there a lot of teenagers around with time on their hands. (Just saying.)

Aepgirl Mon 06-Apr-20 12:22:51

Let’s hope we are being told the truth, that it’s just for tests. He certainly looked unwell. BTW why do news presenters say he ‘has a temperature’? We’ve all got a temperature - he has a high temperature.
Get well soon, Boris. We need you.

growstuff or maybe they're people who have been lurking until now, or have been posting on threads you have no interest in.

MamaCaz Mon 06-Apr-20 12:30:27

BTW why do news presenters say he ‘has a temperature’?

Probably because it's a perfectly acceptable expression which, as any dictionary will tell you, means that someone's temperature is higher than normal.

And they thought this was going to bring about a kinder, more cohesive population having All experienced this awful pandemic.

This proves business as usual.

In response to an earlier comment I would think medical staff would treat Boris in the same way they would any other patient regardless of his record on their pay structure.

How many posts has sooziewoozie had deleted on this thread now ?

Unconscious?

I looked at this thread yesterday and added a comment, just come back to it now, but jumped to the last page. I don’t know what’s been going on but I’m glad I haven’t seen it. We all have enough to cope with without whatever was being said. I wish Boris well, as I said last night. Today it was reported he is being given oxygen so he is obviously very poorly. I really do hope he recovers soon, I’m afraid to think anything else. He has a new baby on the way, the country needs leadership, and Carrie needs him. His family must be extremely worried, as are all the families who have a loved one in hospital.

I am amongst many who would prefer that Johnson was not the PM, but imo it would be disastrous to loose a PM at this stage of a massive crises.

BlueBelle Mon 06-Apr-20 13:14:06

I read that his pregnant girlfriend has had the virus and recovered

Yes,I read that too, so hopefully it's true and that she and baby are ok.

Sussexborn Mon 06-Apr-20 13:29:17

I hope that Boris will pull through this and that no harm has come to Carrie or their baby.

Here’s hoping that “what goes around comes around” doesn’t prove true for the ill-wishing armchair critics.

I have a deep suspicion that there is a certain unpleasant poster, lover of vitriol and spitefullness, who changes her name from time to time and launches herself onto Gransnet for an interlude of sniping and confrontation. Sated with aggravating others she then slides back in to her lair and starts boiling in her own bile again. The style of posting is beginning to show a pattern - anyone else noticed this over the past year or so?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Apr-20 13:48:02

I do think that the spin surrounding Johnson is at best unfortunate.

If he is well enough to be working on his boxes, then he isn’t ill enough to be inhospitable and bed. Blocking.

If in fact (as I suspect) he is too ill then they are lying.

They need to get a grip

moggie57 Mon 06-Apr-20 13:52:00

MAYBE NOW HE WILL SEE that the NHS is poorly equipped ..a lot of people are dying after getting it while in hospital.not saying everyone is .but his lockdown is partly working ,but not everyone is doing lock down .thinking i'm young and fit .

maddyone Mon 06-Apr-20 13:58:49

Whitewave I agree, I suspect that Boris Johnson is much more ill than we are being told. As you said earlier, it would be disastrous to lose a PM at the moment.
I wouldn’t wish this terrible illness on anyone. I wasn’t a fan of Jeremy Corbyn, much prefer Kier Starmer, but I wouldn’t wish Coronavirus on JC just because I wasn’t a fan. Stay safe everyone.

..a lot of people are dying after getting it while in hospital.not saying everyone is

Do we have any evidence of numbers for that?
And I seem to remember that when everyone else was preparing for lockdown, you were exercising your right to go to a child's birthday party....

suziewoozie Mon 06-Apr-20 14:18:00

I think it’s going on the ventilator rather than going into hospital that is a real red signal. I wonder how many of people admitted to hospital progress to a ventilator?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Apr-20 14:23:38

I have read , but not been able to verify that he is on a ventilator. So can’t be sure.

There are two types of ventilation ( honestly what you learn at times like this!) the mask/oxygen type and the much more intrusive type that is put down into your lungs and pressure is put on the something or others to force the fluid caused by pneumonia put. I’m sure that’s not right but you get the drift!

For the more serious one you are put into an induced coma, and it seems very touch and go.

So let’s hope it the first type, if he is on any form of ventilation.

suziewoozie Mon 06-Apr-20 14:26:33

dragonfly I’ll try one more time. Was it acceptable for a poster to come on this thread where we are discussing the serious issue of BJ’s health and post that she didn’t want KS because of his record as DPP? The poster seemed to be saying that KS was the alternative to BJ which clearly he’s not - it would be one of the existing cabinet. The post was inappropriate and goady but I notice she didn’t get criticised st all - was that because you all agree with her? I accept I came in strongly in response but I believe it was justified

Luckygirl Mon 06-Apr-20 14:26:55

I am guessing that the reason for admission was declining oxygen saturation levels. That is the point at which oxygen is needed and careful observation.

MegrannyW1 Mon 06-Apr-20 14:31:15

Get well soon Boris
